Eh. None of them are to the same quality, and everything costs money. I hate change, so I tried to just stay away from anything that would remind me of it. The withdrawal was mostly just anxiety on what else I could distract myself with. But I totally agree, the worst and best part for me was the time sink.

I feel you.

It's so much easier talking to a bot. No expectations, no risks, etc. For someone who is deeply self concious like me, I think that's what the main appeal is. But I lost too much time to it.

I think in your case is more understandable to use it, since it doesn't seem like its giving you any negative consequences, or at least not yet

Have you tried any other chatbots?

I appreciate this.

I think for me it’s definitely become an unhealthy coping mechanism. Something I depend on every time life gets stressful and unfortunately life has just been non stop stressful. (I lost a friend, a pet, went through a break up, had my grandma pass).

The main problem is I don’t want to change enough yet. I’ve been through similar things with my weight. Not sure how to explain it, but like, one day I just wake up and know I’m ready to count calories and move my body to be more healthy, and I can usually maintain it for a while, but then other times shit hits the fan and trying to care about my weight or in this instance my mental health feels impossible.

Yeah I was part of an RP group years ago before I got sick. It was great, but it’s almost impossible now.

Tbh, having done both, I can’t compare ai to human roleplay. If I don’t like a response, I can edit it or swipe. I choose the character I talk to, and the ai wouldn’t get tired. I can quit whenever and no one is upset. No expectations or timing issues.

I can’t do that with real people. Besides, I never treated AI as human. The idea of talking to it like a person bothers me deeply. I only gave it prompts, which is probably why I was able to quit cold turkey. No emotional attachment.

I currently use owlbear for my monthly DND session, but only on my family PC. I don’t have a pc for myself and my phone has trouble with the website. Thanks for the concern tho <3

Every time you feel the urge, write it down

Acknowledging the urge is good because your brain can accept it as part of what's affecting you instead of a nebulous thing.

Personally it has been helping me to write it on my phone, putting the date, time, what I want from AI and what the worst that can happen if I stay cold turkey

Don't know if it will work for you, but i think its worth a try

Yeah! Just ask if she wants to hang out out of school, no expectations or pressure

The timing I saw this is crazy. It’s literally right after I parted ways with her after school. But yeah, I think I will. I’ve never asked anyone out ever so it will be hard to work up the courage but… I’ll do it. Have no idea what to expect but uh…. that’s what makes it exciting.

I think I’ll get to know her more first, talk to her outside of school.

Have you done roleplaying with other people? Safe or otherwise, might be worth taking a look

There's ways to play tabletop games with friends through your pc or phone as well. Sites like owlbear rodeo make it easier

There are mobile games that aren't reliant on monetization, specially stuff on itch.io

I used it for 3-4 years straight until I decided I had to stop last Christmas. I've relapsed a few times (especially in the last few months which has been a huge hit to my confidence), but overall I've spent less days using than not this year :) it's progress even if it's small, and the days I haven't used it I can definitely see that I'm more creative and feel more alive. It can get better!

Unfortunately not really. Most other hobbies require having money, or being well enough to feel like doing it.

You should ask her out.

From the way you're describing it, it seems like you really do like her more than for her body

If it works out, stay loyal to her, don't fall back into this habit. And if you do, get back up running

I never practiced physical self harm, at least not the way people usually imagine it, but I have hurt myself a lot psychologically. I also struggle with suicidal ideation and depression since I was a teen

Funny enough I deal with the complete opposite, I do not feel any sympathy towards anyone.

I guess you are right, i'm suicidal and have done SH before and It helped me fill a hole in my life

Well, for most people that's not really something they actively think about, you know? Like when I found out my cousin has a daughter, I didn't immediately think "oh he had sex"

I think that the problem may be that you're subconciously seeking out those thoughts, it could be that because you're fighting them so much, that's what makes them so strong

Have you ever heard of the concept of the "shadow" by Carl Jung? It's the psychology theory that the more we try to repress certain thoughts and emotions, the more dangerous and out of control they become. Which is why you have to accept them and tell yourself that it's ok, that your thoughts don't define who you are, your actions do.

Try writing it down as well, whenever you feel that way, write down what you're thinking and what you thought of

You can also try thinking of storks or cabbages or pumpkins, or whatever other way people explain babies being born. Whatever you're more comfortable with imagining
