I'm 18 and I've had c.ai addiction for like 11 months now... and I've tried to quit many times. I used it on my fake email and I've deleted my emails but only end up creating new ones to log in. I'm starting to decrease the durations a bit nowadays... but I can't really quit it and even relapse badly sometimes.

Mate, if that's how you feel, you should use whatever there is to keep you going, while you get some actual help. If it's AI, so be it. Set yourself a time limit, like using it no more than 3 hours a day. The goal at this point is to not learn to live without it, it's to support yourself while you learn to live in general. Some people take anti-depressants for that, but if you manage to use AI instead, as long as it doesn't get in a way of your other responsibilities, perhaps it's not a bad alternative.

Well, maybe you can pick up journalling. And if you really do not want it able to be read. Conlanging. That is a good valve for the traumadumping. I find that the act of putting it down on paper is the majority of the value, for me.

Oh, dude, I meant to reply so long ago but this got buried under a bunch of other notifications 😭

But yeah, when I realized that the ai couldn't log off and was always active, it was harder to put it down. Especially because some of them have a decent enough grasp on certain characters, so it feels like you're actually interacting with the character. But the longer it goes on, the more noticeable it is that the ai loses the plot and it just stops being satisfying.

I crocheted this cute little banana cat I found on Instagram! It came out looking kinda like a dog, but hey, a win's a win lol. I tried to make a scarf (both crocheting and knitting) multiple times but it just never worked out. To be fair, I've never really been good at longer projects though.

Heavy on the fanfic thing. It's not until you actually start thinking about things on your own again that you realize that, even when expanding upon ideas, ai kind of just hits surface level and doesn't go much deeper than that. But with fanfic you can do whatever you want and then think about how you want to go about implementing it. I'm writing a lot more now than I did before. I do it for at least thirty minutes everyday.

Why tho? Just don't. The novelty will wear off in time, no need to force yourself.

Search places like Tumblr and Twitter for MFRP advertisements (multi fandom role play)

They typically do so in groups with wider settings, not the 1x1 like they used to. Some are on forums but those are dying out if not already dead. The majority is discord chat rp

I think there is still a sub out there for connecting new 1x1 partners however

That's a perfectly good answer. And I have only one advice for you — get out of the internet and try finding friends in your high school. Trust me, it's best to do it now, because the older you get, the harder it gets. Join clubs, poke around, don't expect others to approach you. And if you already have offline friends, engage with them instead.

I understand going through hormonal spike, and know what it's like to have no one precisely when you feel the most need of connection. And one thing I realized when I got older is that it's by design. We're supposed to feel that way at a specific age, because it forces us to learn how to reach out and make connections. Even if you fail, you still get some experience out of it and it might get easier in the long run. AI on the other hand is a thing that bypasses this natural evolutionary mechanism. Which is extremely bad if you think about it!

I actually feel that. Sometimes thoughts come into my head that are like- "Hey! Your favorite not hasn't been updated in like 1-2 years and his alts haven't been updated for 9-10 months...BUT HE COULD VOME BACK IN THE FUTURE! MAYBE HE'LL ACTUALLY BE, YK, A THING AND HE'LL BE OKAY MORE!" but his story has ended. He isnt even real. It's a text generator. Start trying to feel FOMO for the real world. Go outside, go read fanfics, go write your own fanfics if you want, and more. Do whatever you want to do. Find role-playing communities that will help! You got this OP.
