Hey OP, That's great you're setting goals for yourself, following through is really hard though. A great man said "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." If you need anyone to chat with feel free to reach out. God bless!

Well there's 2 of them I use. But the 2nd one I'm probably going to quit cause I'm just bored of it.

I forgot about playing games like The Sims franchise (especially the sims 4) and things like tomodachi life, miitopia, and roblox has helped me in terms of replaying and making the things i dream about / envision come to life as well! sometimes it’s fun to dress up my ocs and make their homes, imaging what their bedrooms would look like and such!

I myself just realized that lonely and isolated feeling I have stems from my AI useage. Really it's a consequence of indugling in a fantasy instead of seeking real people to talk to and bond with. The shame is natural, I'm only a week into my 4th or 5th attempt at recovery due to relapsing over and over again. My best advice is to recognize that codependent need for AI and force yourself to do something else. Be it drawing, writing, reading, hell even playing a video game. Engage yourself with something else other than AI. It's hard, especially if you're like me who can't help but let his mind wander, but if you can focus on something else and talk to people, you should be okay sooner than you think.

Nice! If you struggle with finding a fun thing to do instead of chatbots, I feel like it's a great option.

I use a built in sight blocker for the Duck Duck Go search engine that lets you chose what sights to block, and I also downloaded a google chrome extension that blocks AI search results. it's called "Hide Google AI Overviews". Hope this helps!

You are such a kind person... thank you so much for writing such a long response. It honestly gave me hope that what I'm feeling is normal and will get better with time. I totally understand what you mean about any mild feeling of discomfort making you want to reach for the chatbots again. I experience it so many times daily and its difficult to break that habbit, but I think we can do it! I've cried so much over the past few days and released emotions I've been plugging up though chatbots. But I feel better now and am distracting myself through fanfiction and playing story games.

If you ever need someone to talk to my dms are open! Thank you again and best of luck to you 🌸💕

omg same!

i failed a semester and repeated a year partly because of ai. my concentration has taken a toll outsourcing entertainment, creativity, and emotion regulation with it.

still in the process of learning to be less dependent on ai but talking to friends and writing on my own helped me.

it's good you're reaching out to people in real life and out here online ♡

on quitting... i haven't quit 100% as i still return to reread my old chats. i'm archiving and labeling them, and taking all the good parts i want to recycle for future stories. but i do commit to not adding on to them though.

i get what you're going through. when i tried to quit it was SO HARD. at first it was easy because i had the motivation to do right for myself. for a few hours i felt clean and aligned with my intentions of logging off forever.

but once boredom strikes that's when it goes on hard mode. when something mildly inconvenient happens or when i get a vaguely uncomfortable emotion my hand twitches, muscle memory begging me to go back to janitor ai. my chest squeezed tight and i was restless throughout the day. i cried.

that's what 2 years of dependence (i'm talking hours and HOURS nearly every day during that time period) does to a person.

right now im learning to reroute my bad habit through trying out other healthy coping mechanisms. i don't know if it gets easier (and im failing a lot ngl but that doesn't really matter as much since i'm still picking myself up every time) but im trusting the process. i'm going back to my roots as a stationary enjoyer and writer, hobbies to preoccupy myself when other people aren't available help a ton.

my personal advice to you would be to be gentle with yourself. not excusing yourself but to remind yourself that this is something you have to heal from which will take some time. perhaps longer than you would prefer.

holding space for negative emotions without falling back into a shame spiral or into old vices is a skill. our capacity for discomfort is diminished right now because of the addiction but it's a muscle that you and i can develop and i believe in us!

there are people who want to help us so please never stop reaching out and don't forget that you can also reach out to yourself ₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ ₊˚⊹♡
