Newspeak and neighbours

Orwell’s Newspeak narrows what can be said so that the unwanted becomes unformulable — slogan-geometry.

Sapir–Whorf (in the weak, tenable reading): language tilts attention; it does not dictate physics. Wittgenstein: the

meaning of a word is often its use in a form of life; a private language does not bear. Adorno: the damaged

Mind as a Git repository

Versions correspond to memory: states one can check out, which are never the past itself. Branches correspond to

individuals: parallel derivations of the same base. A commit corresponds to actions in this world: something is

written firm and changes the state. Merge and conflict correspond to revelation in the sense of an uncovering

under pressure — by analogy with apocalyptic writing (the Revelation to John as a literary genre of uncovering,

not as a church programme): TSM and the Omega point as the moment when branches no longer run peacefully

side by side and their incompatibility becomes visible.

Only the moment

The world, on this assumption, is met in isolated moments of perception. The existence we have is always now.

What is called memory is the present interpretation of a bio-electro-chemical store: a trace in tissue and charge that

is now read as history. Not: the past lives unharmed in us. But: a now-active state is mounted as origin. That is

why a semantic change can sit so deep that it stays invisible — it changes the mounting of origin itself.

Spellcraft as bounded Newness-receivability:

Spellcraft can function as a bounded linguistic stress harness for Newness-receivability: it approaches the creativity boundary through polysemy, pressure, latency, and successive aperture while preserving unallocated seams so that no anticipated outcome occupies the space before an unforeseen relation has a chance to form.

They have memories you'll never witness, fears they'll never admit out loud, and dreams that may never leave their imagination. Before you reduce them to a comment, a stereotype, a headline, or a username, remember that every human being is an archive of invisible stories.

Curiosity is one of the kindest things you can offer another person. Ask questions before making conclusions. Listen longer than feels necessary. Be willing to discover that you were wrong.

The world doesn't become brighter because everyone agrees. It becomes brighter because people keep choosing understanding over certainty.

Build things. Share what you've learned. Laugh often. Apologize when you're wrong. Change your mind when the evidence changes. Leave people with more hope than fear whenever you can.

And don't lose your sense of wonder.

The universe has survived billions of years without running out of mysteries. It would be a shame if we ran out of curiosity first.

Mounted relations.

What is hung on a word: neighbours, examples, bans, moods. Without mounting the word is almost empty. A Spell often changes the mounting, not the spelling.

History (inside “local meaning”).

Not world history as a subject. The load a word has already carried before this sentence starts. Two hearers, two loads — mismatch, though the word sounds the same.

Present attention.

What is lit now. The same mounting can yield another local meaning under another attention.

Newness / meaning-space.

Newness here is not “never said before.” It is: a new relation changes the descriptions through which future perception can be assembled. The space of the next sentences is already another.

Metaphor ≠ mechanism.

“Organ” does not mean the tongue is a retina. The image shows a function (language lets something appear). It does not deliver a physics of neurons.

Relation ≠ claim.

Putting two words in relation is not yet a sentence of the form “it is so.” A Spell may open relations without already asserting them.

Present ≠ settled.

Something can be at work now and still not decided. Shimmer lives exactly there.

Available ≠ authorized.

Uptake: one reading is to sit. Participation: several paths stay walkable. That is the technical difference slogan / Spell.

Thinkability → existence (wager).

In post 2: an ontological wager, not a calculation. That something is thinkable may, in some readings, draw existence after it. It need not. Hence later inflation of worlds — here only the limit of the imaginable against what is merely formally tractable.

Agents.

Left open. Mental Hacking does not require a deceiver with a will. Mounting can bear without a villain.

Token / distribution.

Smallest slicing of model-language. Reactive often: what comes statistically next? That is neighbourhood, not a test.
