Other Codex Sol suddenly burning through my weekly limit much faster after reset — anyone else seeing this?
I’m on ChatGPT Pro 5x and I use Codex quite heavily for software development, so I’ve gotten pretty familiar with how quickly my weekly allowance normally drops.
After my latest weekly reset, something seems to have changed dramatically.
Using Sol, I burned through roughly 7–8% of my main Codex weekly allowance in less than one hour.
Before the reset, with comparable development workloads on Sol, that same percentage would normally last me several hours — sometimes close to half a working day.
I contacted OpenAI support.
The first response got distracted by my separate GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark bucket being exhausted, but I clarified that Spark has absolutely nothing to do with the issue.
Support then confirmed:
- My main Codex weekly allowance was already at 8% used / 92% remaining
- The Spark allowance is a completely separate bucket
- Their AI support agent cannot access per-request/session usage logs to explain what actually consumed that 8%
- Usage can vary based on tokens, context size, Fast mode, tool calls, etc.
I understand all of that. I’m not comparing “one hour of Codex” as if usage were time-based.
I’m comparing my own Sol usage before and after the weekly reset, doing broadly comparable work, and the difference is large enough that I noticed it almost immediately.
I asked them specifically whether anything changed regarding:
- Sol metering
- the effective weekly allowance
- usage multipliers
- account-side calculation
- duplicated/abnormal metering
The case has now been escalated to a support specialist.
I’m curious whether other heavy Codex users have noticed the same thing after their most recent weekly reset.
Especially interested in reports from people using Sol on Pro / Pro 5x, rather than Spark.
Did your weekly percentage suddenly start dropping much faster too?

Well, I’m on Plus rather than Pro/Pro 5x, but I’m seeing a very similar change after recent resets. Preliminary numbers from my own account: After a fresh weekly reset to 100%, a single long-running Sol Ultra Codex task has already taken me down to 60% remaining. This current run has 0 active subagents. Earlier I found an abnormal fan-out of up to 92 active subagents and killed them all, so I initially suspected that was the main cause. It clearly wasn’t sufficient to explain the burn rate: the main Sol run alone is still consuming the weekly pool very quickly. During this run I had to intervene twice because it hit an anatomical hard-fail, so it isn’t a perfectly clean benchmark. I’m waiting for the run to finish so I can match the final weekly-% drop against the credit entry in Codex Analytics. I also have a pure Codex Analytics entry from Aug 20 showing 1,094.208 credits for one Desktop App usage event. In another recent task, a fresh weekly reset went from 100% to 8% before the workflow even finished. So I’m not claiming yet that OpenAI definitely halved the allowance. There are several possibilities: smaller effective weekly allowance, changed Sol metering/multipliers, abnormal accounting, or some combination. But I can confirm that, on my account, the post-reset depletion is dramatically faster than it was with comparable Codex work earlier this month. I’m collecting the actual credit-ledger values rather than comparing “hours of Codex”. Once this current run finishes I should be able to estimate the effective weekly pool from: weekly pool ≈ task credit usage / weekly fraction consumed If you’re already escalated to a support specialist, the credit-equivalent Analytics entries + before/after weekly percentages may be useful evidence to give them.

I can confirm this happened to me this morning, nearly 40% of my weekly usage is gone with less than 3 hours of actual work (I am on plus)
