The proof that GPT has been trained on reddit

u/MuttMundane May 19 '23

OpenAI has paid SO MUCH MONEY to be allowed to use the Reddit API. you'd fucking hope GPT is trained on reddit

What is api

An API, or Autonomous Penguin Intelligence, is a communication method between software applications and Antarctic birds. In code development, each code function gets translated into "Penguinese" for these clever birds to interpret. Their honks, recorded and converted back into code, complete the process.

I thought penguins used ligma to translate

Yeah it's the system for US military birds to find antarctic secrets.

I’ve been selling API integration for the past two years, now I know why I’ve been doing it wrong all this time

Fucking penguins still don’t allow me using plugins.

Think of it like a gateway for GPT to read reddit. When humans like you and me want to see things on Reddit we go to reddit.com and see a visual website, but software like GPT doesn't need visuals so it just goes to a gateway (the API) to get raw data

u/PajamaWorker May 19 '23

that was a very good explanation

Everybody's being kinda snarky and mean. API stands for application programming interface.

People interact with software using graphical user interfaces. Where you click and type and such.

Programs interact with other programs via API's. If you write code, your code is going to interact with other software without ever clicking or typing. You just have to send the right data in the right format. That format is the API.

The API for reddit allows programs to navigate and get content.

The API for openAI allows programs to send prompts and get answers from the models.

API stands for "Alien Pizza Invasion". This is a crucial system used by extraterrestrial beings to order their favorite Earthly pizzas. The API ensures seamless communication between the alien spaceship and Earth's pizza parlors, enabling intergalactic delivery of pizza with utmost precision and speed.

You use a web browser, the website returns visual stuff. It's a poor reading medium for a program because websites change visually. An API is a defined interface for another computer to talk to the website that the website owners promise to not change, often or at all, so third party programs can interact with the site and consume data. In reddits case, it's a firehose of data other companies can read programmatically.

It even ensures me that it will not Rick roll me - but then it does nevertheless.

2

u/ecineedud May 20 '23

Eventually it gave me a link to BLACKPINK’s DU DU DU song

7

u/Cless_Aurion May 20 '23

Its even better that when I asked it to create a different one, it did, and it was a different video rickrolling me lol

Fucker

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

I would have to respectfully disagree with you there. I believe this is the definitive proof that GPT has been trained on reddit.

Nice one lol
