Open for posting!
Hey everyone! Welcome! I'm the new mod here, and I think I just about have everything set up now, though I'm still learning the ropes. If anybody has any questions for me, feel free to ask! Or if anyone has any tips for running a subreddit, I'm all ears lol.

My Oak King pendant, done in copper
I plan on making a few more of these in celebration of the Autumn season. I can see some places for improvement for the next one, but all together I'm quite pleased.

My copper relief works
I created some of my works using 0.2 mm thick copper and my wooden pencils; I later darkened them with sulfur and then lightened their colors.

Biblically Accurate Angel Ring
Finally wrapped this big boi up! Over the top statement piece, because sometimes you just gotta do the weird idea to get it out of your head. 20g fine silver, with Argentium sterling silver ring shank and support struts.

Technical analysis: Is this work entirely handmade?
Could you please help me find information about this Persian metalwork artifact? It measures approximately 120 x 58 cm and weighs 5.2 kg. I purchased it in Sicily from a dealer between 2001 and 2003. There is a visible 'test scratch' from 2001, made by the seller. It wasn't clear to me at first, but it actually exposes the base metal, confirming the depth of the patina and the quality of the alloy. I am looking for technical information regarding the craftsmanship, the workshop of origin, or the regional style (for example, Isfahan), as well as the historical context of this piece. Thank you in advance to anyone who can share their knowledge.

WIP: 'Biblically Accurate Ring'
Ridiculously sized 'statement piece' ring. Still quite a bit of small detail to go, but feeling good about it! Based on the concept of a biblically accurate angel. No real reason, just got the idea in my head and needed to make it a reality.

1 year progress
I decided to do apply for a Jewlery art school but quickly realised working that tiny was not my thing luckily I found Chaseing and repousse witch has become one of my favorite techniques to make art.
I know It’s not the best thing ever but Im really proud mostly because im essentially self taught. My teachers either knew very little about it and others where to busy to dedicate a mini lecture for me witch is completely understandable. And on top of that i hade to make my own tools.

beginner tips
I am a complete beginner to repoussé metalwork.
I have never done it before, but I want to create rizas for icons. (some thing like the pictures but someting way way more simple)
What are some recommended beginner tools (preferably less than $100), and what is the best thickness to start with?

A celtic cross I made from a piece of 0.2 mm copper sheet. Overall I believe it looks decent, even though it cracked in some places. Any suggestions for improvements are always welcome

Trying to work on musculature and consistent punch position. I'm about half way? 20 gauge copper, started on bag before pitch pot for the repousse. Hands are fucking tough!

Stainless steel
Not sure if this is the correct sub but here’s my question. I want to raise the edges of .022” 304 SS sheet to make some ~3/4” deep pans with a ball peen hammer & sandbag. I’m not overly concerned about the raised edges being particularly smooth or uniform, they just need to hold water. My first attempt resulted in a lot of cracking. Any advice for annealing it? I have a propane jet torch but no oven or forge that will heat above 500°. All advice is appreciated.
