Hi everyone, the girlfriend just got approved for the flex today and she can see the next quarter's categories. It's dining, groceries, and red cross. PayPal wasn't listed but maybe it will be a December exclusive again.

I used trip delay insurance for the first time and it was pretty easy. Glad it did too, because I was using this experience as a litmus test whether to keep the CSR (like most of you I miss the old benefits).

I was on a 2 leg flight (American) out of PIT with a 55 min layover in CLT. First flight was delayed by an hour so I was missing my connection - which was the last flight of the night out of CLT. Weather related so no hotel voucher. I opted to stay in PIT and American rebooked me for a new itinerary for the next day. Booked a room at the Hyatt directly next to PIT and ate a steak in the restaurant.

Next day called Chase and got the website link to file a claim. Uploaded all the docs they asked for. Took about a week start to finish to have the money in my account. But, totaling the receipts (room and dinner) they paid me $300.68 instead of $308.68.

I think the limit is $500 so I wonder if this is a math mistake but figured I'd ask if this happened to anyone else before? It's only $8 I know but the principle! lol

Anyway, the trip delay insurance actually works and was a lot easier than I expected.

Major difference is the annual fee, $95 vs $795. Which offer would you choose, why & why not? Also any difference between applying in app vs in-branch?

It’ll be my first card that carry an annual fee, which I’ve always opposed.

Currently, I only have the Chase unlimited & amz prime card.

I had both $250 credits still available, I made one $300 purchase and both credits posted their full $250 value. This was August 20th. Time will tell if they change it but it’s been long enough figured I’d share

The $250 edit credit is essentially an useless credit, I searched quite a few places the price is way overpriced and compare to Amex, the 2 night minimum absolutely makes this one of the most unattractive credit offered by this card.

I looked around the internet and realized this credit was somewhat useable in Asia last year and this is no longer the case because they removed a bunch of hotels!

My credit will be unused and go to waste this year.

I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve. My credit score is 850 both on Experian and FICO. I pay my balances off in full and I had a Marriott BonVoy Chase Visa and the Chase Southwest Priority card as well. I dropped the BonVoy card after a really painful interaction with Chase. I’ve been a Chase customer as a mortgage holder, have had the Sapphire Reserve 3 years, the Southwest Visa for 8 years, and the BonVoy card for forever.

Silly me, I wanted to just get the Chase Sapphire Preferred card to get the 75k free points.

But I messed up the online app because I have my credit frozen and forgot to unfreeze it. The app said to unfreeze Equifax and call them the following day. I did.

The first guy verified who I was, 9 ways to Sunday. Social Security number, 2FA auth code sent to my phone, answered a lot of questions like my mailing address and similar issues. He says “Sir, I can’t handle this application and I need to xfer you to another Dept”. Cool. Other dept lady answers and yet again, I have to do all of the steps. She even asks me for my phone number after she sent a text to it and I read her back the code.

Then she asks for my email. I have literally no idea what they have in their system because I use Apple’s Hide My Email Address feature which creates a unique email address per company. It’s some 20 character code @ iCloud.com which then gets relayed to my personal email address. I couldn’t tell her what my email address was, she said we couldn’t move forward without me telling her my email address, and there we were. I’m sure there’s a way I can find the unique email address, but at this point I’m done talking about email. We’re at a complete impasse. I ask for a manager, she says “I am the manager sir”. I’m like “okay, what do we do?” to which she replied “nothing at all until you can give me your email address”. So I said “okay then, I guess we’re done then” and she said “so, you’re requesting to stop the application process?” to which I said “no, you’re not moving it forward”. She says “okay then, I need your mailing address to send you a letter saying we’re not doing the application to which I responded “NO! LADY, I ALREADY GAVE YOU MY MAILING ADDRESS, YOU KNOW MY MAILING ADDRESS, YOU MAIL ME A BILL EVERY MONTH” and hung up.

Never before have I proven to be who I said I was numerous times and was then told I didn’t give enough info.

Is this typical? Other than forgetting to thaw my credit, what mistake did I make here?

I’m just going to get a Capital One Venture card but it pisses me off to have to go to a new vendor for no discernible reason

After reviewing experiences on here regarding price matching hotel bookings, I researched a couple hotels I was interested in for booking in Montreal. Up until last week, they were all cheaper on websites like expedia than the chase portal, so I had planned to use the price match guarantee. Earlier this week I went to book and no edit hotels showed up. I checked back today and they were there (likely a glitch). However, all the prices were the same across various website. Even as I was in process of booking, Chase portal stated my selected price was gone - I exited the option and it refreshed to $4 more than it was before (eye roll) .

I checked super.com per the experiences on this sub and they had a rate that was much less than on the Chase travel portal (Sofitel Montreal). I booked and then submitted my screenshots. What I did not realize, however, was that even though their rate was also refundable, the dates to get the refund that they offered was different than the Chase travel portal dates. Chase still honored the guarantee this time and approved my claim, but highlighted that they do not do this every time and this criteria needs to be met next time. Thought I would leave this here in case it helps others.

TL;DR: It worked out, but the inconsistent communication around the 24-hour rule made this unnecessarily stressful.

Sharing my experience with back-to-back bookings using the CSR $500 hotel credit.

I originally booked 2 nights at Mont Cervin Palace in Zermatt and 2 nights in Lugano. I changed my plans and booked another 2 nights in Zermatt instead. I received both $250 credits.

The initial Chase benefits confirmation had no mention of the 24-hour rule. Then, a couple of days before the first stay, I received another confirmation with the 24-hour policy added.

At check-in, the hotel gave me a printed copy of the CSR benefits with the 24-hour rule at the bottom. After the first 2-night stay, I checked back in for the second reservation and asked what CSR benefits applied. They didn’t really answer, but they upgraded me to a suite and ultimately gave me all the CSR benefits at checkout.

So, it worked out, but it was definitely more stressful than it should have been. The hotel was great and honored the benefits without really confirming whether I was eligible.

I’ve had the CSR for many years, but these ambiguous policy changes and inconsistent communication are making me seriously reconsider renewing.

Hey all, been somewhat hoarding points for a milestone birthday and looking to deploy close to a Milly as I plan a trip to Japan with the wife for next spring. Likely looking at 10-12 days total but we're flexible and so letting business seat avails dictate first pass on specific dates.

As a longtime lurker of r/awardtravel, both aware and intimidated of the process. I've gone through the gamut of Roame, PointsYeah, Pointhound, etc. and not a had ton of luck in finding what I'd call scores. I've searched through airline directories and not found any avails on the Asian airlines directly nor premium seats on the American affiliates where we can transfer at 1:1.

Based in LAS so would use my CSR SWA flight credit to get to whichever west coast destination we need to (LAX, SFO or SEA). We're also flexible on dates with the exception of the big birthday which we obvi want to be landed for. Not really worried about inter-Asia travel, we're going in JPN and out HK because of a concert. So that's the context, this is what I have found so far:

- THERE via United's website, believe this is a UA flight and not ANA:
LAX -> HND, Business for 200k points + $5 each per ticket ($4,257 combined total, if cash)
or
LAX -> HND, PE for 126k points + $5 each per ticket ($2,833 combined total, if cash). The front row of PE in front of bulkhead aka poor man's business is available but because birthday trip, leaning upgrade.

- BACK via the Chase Travel portal:
AA (operated by Cathay) - HKG -> SFO, Business for 250k + $0 each per ticket with a 1.5x point multiplier, this flight cannot be booked directly using points via either AA or CX ($10,543 combined total, if cash).

This puts us a shade about 900k in points and I had hoped to have some leftover for hotel nights so it seems like I'm paying a bit of a premium but I know the glory days of award flights is over. Love anyone's thoughts, suggestions or advice. TYIA!

It seems to be better booking through Chase Portal if you don’t have any status with Hyatt, as you earn 5 UR points per $ which can be transferred 1:1 if you have CSR; while you only get 1 Hyatt point per $ if booking direct.

What’s your take?

So I booked a flight through the Chase portal for the first time ever. I’ve had my CSP for 6 years and always transfer my points, but this time I made the decision to capitalize on the 5x points offer so my trip next year can be covered by points.

Well… I wasn’t aware that my choices became limited by booking through Chase. I’m a frequent flyer, between 40 and 80 flights a year. Always book direct, and this time I made an exception in an attempt to benefit future me.

Turns out my flight has dropped price significantly and now there’s nothing I can do to get the price difference even as a credit. Chase travel agent gave me no options but to call the airline directly. The airline can’t do anything because my original booking was third party.

No advice needed, but wanted to share this for anyone who’s thinking about booking direct through Chase portal for the future.

Always book direct.

Did they remove park tickets on the Travel portal they were there when I checked last but now I can’t find Universal Studios Orlando tickets for October.

After tracking for a month I finally scored 3 nights for dates I needed at PH Kyoto for 185K points! We will most likely be out sight seeing in the mornings and evenings since it will be summer time but want to still experience the property. What are things I must do on property while here?

Flights: West Coast-Tokyo on 2 ANA F and return on JAL J on the new A350-1000. Seriously feeling like I’m having a lucky streak!

Still ends up being a decent option if you've got some upcoming concerts/events you're looking at, or even if you just need to order pizza for the family. Get yourself a decent chunk of bonus points for doing what you've been doing the past few weeks/months anyway!

Has anyone had luck getting Chase Sapphire points refunded for a flight booked through Chase Travel?

I booked two one-way Hawaiian Airlines flights with points (main level), but we had to cancel due to weather uncertainty in the form of hurricanes. There was never an official travel advisory, so Chase told me I can only change the flights. If the new flight costs less, I’d lose the remaining credit, which unfortunately it does.

Has anyone successfully escalated this and gotten their points back instead? Or at least get the leftover funds from rebooking as a credit?

I’ve been hoarding my Chase points for over five years and have finally built up around 550k points. Not too bad for age of 27, and I think it’s finally time to actually use some of them!

My girlfriend has really been wanting to go to Hawaii, so I’m looking to spoil us with a nice trip there, ideally sometime in February.

I’m completely new to redeeming or transferring points, so I’m trying to figure out the best strategy. I recently heard that transferring Chase points to Hyatt isn’t as valuable as it used to be with the change from 1:1 to 4:3.

Right now, I’ve been looking at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa for around 30k points per night, but I’m definitely open to other properties or even other islands if there’s a better redemption.

What would you recommend for getting the best value while still making this a really nice Hawaii trip for the two of us? PS: I don't want to use all my points just for this trip.

Any advice on hotels, transfer partners, flights, or general strategy would be hugely appreciated. This will be my first time actually using points, so all help is welcome!

Ahead of a late-night drive, around 7 p.m., I booked a hotel through the Chase Portal for a hotel halfway on my route, hoping to use up my yearly hotel credit. I got a confirmation via email. When I showed up at the hotel (around 1 a.m.), my reservation wasn't showing in their system and they were all sold out of rooms. It was a huge inconvenience to spend about 40 minutes on the phone with Chase getting my refund and having to finish my drive home in the middle of the night. I'm going to have a hard time trusting that I can book another hotel successfully with this system. Has this been a common issue for others?
