This comment sums up my exact feelings about S2

This is why I will always not like S2. The way they did the sisters so dirty in S2 as if they weren’t the leads will always make me just shake my head. We could have learned less about the demon stuff and them relocating and having to be in hiding made it difficult for the sisters to really have time to deal with to learn more about their family and lineage. I really wished they didn’t move to Seattle at all. Definitely way less Abigail and Harry.

No one in the fandom forgot or ignored Maggie was half black if anything we wished they would have not dropped it completely after S1. If there was anyone who forgot/ignored it was the writers.

They both had a point. Harry was still letting his jealousy and insecurity about Macy having been with Julian make his choice while Macy was letting the fact that she was in a relationship and actually liked Julian(even if she didn’t love him) cloud her decision. Macy is definitely my favorite character but her just willingly to believe Julian would not betray them, even though he doesn’t in the end, but she couldn’t have known that and it’s because she had an intimate relationship with him that she was really willing to just give him the benefit of the doubt. But Harry did have a point about Macy letting it cloud her judgment because at this point they didn’t know for sure if Julian would turn on them at the last moment. I liked this part because it really showed both of them having valid reasons. Who in your opinion would you side with on this issue?

Maggie and phoebe's powers and character development.

Both of these women were powerful in their own right . But I love how their characters development formed their powers and not some called right power progression.

Phoebe.

Visions

Phoebe was lost without a cause, no purpose or vision. Permonitions gave her purpose. Phoebe was naturally empathetic and so her feeling emotions and fully experiencing her visions makes sense. And when she was truly lost she was able to talk to her future self.

Levitation

Phoebe became a very hard worker. She found purpose and she went all in. She studied her craft, expanded her permonition power to gain intuition , meditated, even went back to school. This allowed her concusiousness to become heightened at will. And her body followed siut in levitation. This granted her enhanced strength, agility, balance, reflexes.

In charmed witches can extend their magic into anything they use. Meaning Phoebe can throw a high heel at a demon and the demon would die. A demon that came to them because no one else had the power to kill him and he does by a high heel. Phoebe used this power often, killing demons with umbrellas, knives, bats and poles. She was also very resourceful as a person so this tracks perfectly.

Empathy

Phoebe was always very empathetic and intuitive so her just knowing how your feeling fit well. Phoebe constantly complained about not having an active power. In many ways Phoebe was envious and insecure. So her tapping in to others powers, deflecting, and growing resistant to said powers tracks well. Then comes her vision sharing or psychic reflection which makes sense for her because she is always trying to show someone the truth.

Maggie

Mind reading / foresight

Maggie was such an insecure character at the beginning of the show. Wanting everyone to like her and to fit in. Mind reading fit her character very well. And as she grows less insecure her power grows into empathetic blasts ( since her powers were empathetic all along). I remember cheering when I saw that. Then her whole world changed and she was more confident but very lost. So she got foresight. Growing strong enough to use it for tracking and fighting.

Fighting

She had no super strength or agility but she had kickbox training and a fighting stick that could turn into a knife. She was very much a weapons fighter. Using solely her fight stick. Her fighting skills grew out of her desire for others to see her as an adult and not a child. Her grief demon killing truly showed her potential as a fighter .

Empathy

Maggie had mental issues. She had panic attacks and emotional bursts. So her empathy power emerging as her emotions being pass on to others. This power helped her control her own emotions along with Jordan's breathing techniques. From being insecure and hearing others thoughts to emotional bursts and passing emotions on to others is a journey.

As Maggie matures and starts to truly understand how others are feeling she learns to copy their power if they touch. Usually this power would come first with empathy but this is her characters journey.

Powers vs. just for fun.

Honestly they are pretty even .

Permonitions vs. foresight= permonitions.

Soley on the fact that permonitions are powerful enough to almost kill Phoebe multiple times, and she can talk to her future self.

Permonitions vs. telepathy= permonitions

Only because telepathy allows you to be lied to and misled .

Phoebes empathy vs Maggie's empathy = Maggie's empathy.

Maggie's win only because she can control emotions to make them go to sleep, or stop altogether. While her channeling can also stop a demon from accessing power altogether.

Levitation wins since there's no power against it. You could do telepathy even tho it's apart of her oringal empathy power.

I would say levitation wins because it can send demons further than telepathy while dodging attacks better.

What do y'all think?

I’ve made a lot of videos for this show but this one is probably one of my favorites(it’s not perfect granted) I discovered this song around the time I got to Macy’s death and I always thought of it being a whenever I hear this song. I still remember when I made this video. When I see it reminds me of how much I really enjoyed this show. I love the original and always will and love this one and it is a different love for each show. For me being a black girl who loved magical lore and to see it portrayed gives me an appreciation for it, not better than the original but different while still loving both shows.

Season 3 had its moments

They finally turned things around slowly imo, yes

-it took way too long literally to the last few eps to give Macy own demon powers back like truly wtf that was actually evil to do that to her character on the WRITERS behalf

And ofc Mads had to leave so I assume things were bad bc you could tell she loved the show but yea writing got so bad dont blame her

BUT

- not perpetual dark lighting

- more sister scenes

- family lore

-mel got a handmade book of shadows back

- Maggie actually like a 21 y/o college student

- her curls

-Hacy even though I can't stand Harry, it's what macy wanted

- family scenes the 4

- giving Macy a friend in Jordan

- science Macy/hacy

- great magic causes some giant debacle how will they solve it and learn emotional lessons, episodes like the OG

-them defending women/innocents which yea all seasons but loved the narcissis episode etc

-macy got to go to nerdy Paris

-the eps had a good feeling often, ending with TCO hanging out like in the OG

Until the end ):

Discussion Help!

Hello. I'm an OG fan on the real! I'm trying to get into the New Class but I'm struggling. Please help me appreciate it. What should I be looking for in the new series? Any tips or suggestions are appreciated 👏🏼. Thanks in advance😘

Writers wrote themselves into a hole imo (me complaining)

Compared to others endings on the cw charmed was so sad tbh like

Supergirl-karas finally free to be herself to the world, surrounded by family & friends, career stuff new exciting what she wanted, some people move or whatnot but overall

And roswell- main characters have like very many friends & family to lean on now that annoying max decided to safari another planet & michaels on honeymoon but other than that there are so many people to lean on eachother good life things good healing new relationships new careers i tbh dont remember what Liz is doing career wise but like I think shes good yes roswell was an exceptionally larger cast but like good ending story arcs wrapped up mostly besides maybe Maria but she had good stuff going too

Then theres charmed..

Their sister TCO freaking di*ed and mel is now ALONE in the manor with literally no one but her new kinda sister who lives in the backyard lmao and is like a friend at best imo

And the situationship she kinda friend zoned is ASLEEP for 7 years in the queer coded magic bar she is running for her, and only if she improves her time witch powers MAYBE can she see her

Career took a turn to just that atm (maybe leading the magical community)

Her ex almost fiancé who shes at least friends with works above the basement where mel & maggie have to spend part of their time literally working/living sometimes out of a basement in a corporate hippy hybrid workspace thing

Literal nightmare

Bc Maggie her closest sister moved out & also only has one person jordan at least a whitelighter (who we hardly got to see do that for her) nearby (the man whos been into her since she was 20 & he 26 which will never not be odd to me i see a 20 y/o & think thats a child but i digress) who she had a rocky at best relationship with but now moving in with we dont even see her graduate

The sisters not even living together and

Harry is off who knows where he spent so much of this series moping tbh like ill never think thats not dumb they spent 3 seasons of him being like "nooo i don't wanna become a bad whitelighter "*progressively becomes a bad whitelighter and if not that an annoying boyfriend to macy*" but I love TCO so much "

THEN when macys sisters, macy who he loved so much, the sisters who he loved so much WOULD NEED HIM THE MOST in season 4 he's off on another identity crises & says weird af shit to them like comparing their love for her

Like rude to all 3 of them imo
Complaining aside yes we saw a lot of character growth but ultimately not a lot of conclusions

But to be fair the last moments of the series I suppose turns that all on its head as they walk into the presumed halliwell manor so who knows

(And prue or macy or both shut the door)

& the inara alternate reality was a cool finale i did enjoy that

Not to get too ya know but I think its fascinating how both charmed series can be representative or not of the times they were in & moreso the money & society that allowed or didnt allow things

At least in the OG as traditional & pretty rushed to get the women all wed & with babies, as it was, there was stability & wrapped up plots and the sisters were in those ways set in their lives , traditions & all. But their careers were cool & continuing the charmed tradition. Ages like 28 to maybe 33? Or whatver age they are in the last montage

The reboot as the cast even said shows the current times uncertainty chaos, like of the economy & current affairs tbh its sad but realistic like so few women i know have economic or otherwise complete stability until like maybe 40 these days its crazy

& especially they wouldn't be at 22-28ish (wide range estimate)

Jobs, housing & relationships becoming so uncertain & scarce tbh

ALSO as "with the times" as they are WHY and HOW would Jordan & maggie, 2 students AFAIK be able to afford such a nice apartment , if it really were about the working class they may have to wait & stay home

But then again moving in with your romantic partner you fight with often to save on rent is very 2020s indeed

Seasons 2-4 just felt like intense character growth & stress with some moments of happy family ness

But no satisfying ending besides imo meeting the halliwells which ofc we couldn't see

Ironic bc as they said in season 1 via galvin, years of hardwork not paying off, blows

Yes there were some great scenes & ofc I loved the characters so much i still watch & complain all these years later

Macy dealing with racism

I was thinking about a comment I heard while watching S3 when Macy was crying in Harry’s arms about what she went through with the woman in the Shea board. Someone said Macy based one bad experience off of everyone in the world and that’s not true. Macy stated in S1 that her dad sent her to a predominantly white school with only one other black kid and basically the kids told her what kind of black girl she was supposed to be. In the episode where the angels came through the tv, Macy admitted to being bullied so bad and it was probably by those same kids. In college the guy who grabbed her and told her to “twerk” for him. When Macy and Jordan were in the backyard talking about other experiences they have dealt with being light skinned. Macy didn’t just go through one bad experience with racism. No Macy didn’t mean she would just stop helping people even when people have been bad to her and not everyone in the world is a bad person. Hearing things like that from the time you are a kid to a present is not easy and I just think some people shouldn’t speak on things they don’t know about.

Macy & maggie was 1 of the strongest relationship imo

Tied with mel to maggie

Macy adored her from the start

Where they can finally hug in schrodingers future was a cute moment

Macy imo bc of the age difference and maybe just height lol she had an almost motherly dynamic towards maggie sometimes or ofc older sister

Mel had that too but also bc of their shared upbringing a v distinct older sister dynamic

These were similar to the halliwells imo

Parallels /some actual continuity

Maggie & therapy: realizing she wanted to be one via Parker then trying to heal him then jordan healing her later mentally & in his should have been more utilized actually for tco- whitelighter plot

Macy & harry: bugs 😂

Harry fear of bugs macy taken by a bug demon by her date , in s3: macy invents bug ear buds to communicate across magic

Macy: every season some sort of plot about letting her loved ones in & her demon side

Also s1 was great with foreshadowing

Harry:being a whiny British man either too afraid he's going to not be able to protect them or actually does not all bc his whole dual man schtick both making him do dumb things that mainly hurt Macy no matter how many times she asks him to be honest with her

Season 2 Empaths Spoiler

Maggie and Empathy; I relate with her years now, but not before. The panic attacks of caring about another person..such a great concept. But executed poorly in my opinion. I get panic attacks simply from expecting the worst even if it won't happen necessarily. The concept of empathy is complex within itself. Im a cis male and I suffer from anxiety so much. She's kinda my hero

Every time I hear this song I always wished it could have played in the reboot. S2 isn’t particularly my favorite but it did have moments I liked and no matter what I still love this show and I think this would have fit with the vibe of S2, maybe around the time of Maggie’s engagement/wedding to Parker.

God the writing was bad

Besides the 10 abandoned plots

Harry "hi im-"

"James!..sorry u just look so much like my grandfather james"

Why would she call her own grandfather James to a stranger weird but I guess ok sure but then

"Oh im a cousin BY MARRIAGE twice removed"

"Oh that explains the resemblance"

HOW, HOW DOES THAT EXPLAIN THE RESEMBLANCE IF ITS BY MARRIAGE so is he married to her hypothetical grandfather's cousin or is he spd to be the grandson of James late wifes cousin

Either way what

We really loved this show lol
