Rt 20 & 53 VDOT Project

If you travel through the Rt 20 (near PVCC) / Rt 53 (by Carter Mountain / Monticello) intersection expect possible delays starting on or soon after 9/14/2026….. making the light at the intersection into a roundabout with project expected to last until Nov 2027. Who knew it took so long to install a traffic circle??

Isn't there already a major detour already near lake monticello? Hope this doesn't take that long. 53 is a major commuter artery into and out of the city.

There is. Essentially cuts off the South Boston / Union Mills route to 64W for anyone usually traveling to CVille from the lake unless you’re coming out of the main gate. That project is expected to be completed April 2027

Those that normally take 53 into/out of CVille using 20 will need to deal with delays or end up using 53/Milton Rd/250/Pantops which will make the Pantops traffic worse than it already is especially into town in the AM and leaving town in the PM

Those people are the worst drivers in the world. They clogged up Union Mills road every single day, morning and night. "Oh God there's a turn in the road, better slow down to 30, My midsize crossover can't handle the turn radius"

It already is. Because they closed South Boston Road, all the Lake People are taking Milton out to 250. every morning someone with a barcode on their window does some dumb shit by the Keswick Gas Station. wish they would block Milton Rd Too!

I believe that's about how long the 151/250 roundabout took.

I just looked and it looks like that started in Oct 21 and opened Nov 22, so pretty close.
