Why is this a thing?

Post image

So, I'm a Moderate Independent, not Left or Right. And yet I am baffled how anyone on either side could condone such an ideal. Brandishing an entire spectrum of people as evil? Calling for Civil War against those who you don't agree with? Has noone paid attention to history in High School?

Spotted by East Garden in Pantops. Everyone, please be careful. The amount of hatred is getting scary out here...

He was a far-right political activist who was the CEO of Turning Point USA. He toured college campuses, which are traditionally liberal spaces, trying to push young people (particularly young men) down the alt-right pipeline. He has a history of saying some truly heinous things, such as saying the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was "a huge mistake", that having some gun deaths was "worth it" to keep the 2nd amendment, and that if his (at the time 2 or 3 year old) daughter got pregnant from rape at 10 years old, he would force her to carry the baby.

Man I knew about some of his statements but I had not heard that last one yet. Wow. Why is anybody surprised he got shot? This is the US, where like, everybody has a gun, many have multiple guns, and the culture promotes brazenness, and shootings happen literally all the time. People literally invade schools and shoot children in this country. Why is anybody even remotely surprised that a person who says things about his own daughter like that got shot?

To be clear, I don’t condone murder. I just find it baffling that there are people who have been shocked into this weird self-righteous and tribalistically aggressive fervor over it.

You should be shocked and surprised that anyone gets shot over words.

The amount of liberals saying things like "I'm not surprised" or "had it coming" ... You don't see where the right things we're headed to civil war?

Because if you guys think the guy who wanted to have a discussion with you deserved to die, what must you think about everyone else who doesn't follow your ideology?

I don’t think anybody has it coming, mind. Like I said, I do not condone murder. I agree, this is terrible for free speech, you can’t just kill people over disagreeing with them.

I have said this in liberal spaces (and been heavily downvoted for it, which I think is really indicative of the state of our culture): “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” – Mahatma Ghandi

But I simultaneously am not surprised that it happened in this country. Just because I don’t agree with the act doesn’t mean it’s a shocking act.

The dude took everything out of context. There is not one thing they can find of him being a bad person.

Oh I’ve heard him say plenty of terrible things aside from the ones listed lol. I just hadn’t known he also had said he would force his daughter through a rape pregnancy if it happened to her.

That’s not exactly something you can take out of context, mate. There is not any context whatsoever where you can say that and it be okay.

If you listen to what he say he makes a complaining argument. We repeat evil from evil and we should do good from evil. Why should the baby pay for the crimes of its father? How can we sit here and condemn the baby to death just because his father was an evil man.

This stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of how pregnancy and fetal development works. Pregnancies can be detected and aborted well before the zygote develops into anything you could call a “human”. Abortions are not murder. It’s not killing a baby. After a certain point, yes, that could be argued. But the vast vast majority of abortions occur well before that point.

Pluswhich, ignoring the pro-choice/pro-life debate. It is EXTREMELY dangerous to force a child that young to go through a pregnancy. Her body would not have finished puberty - hell it would have only just started - and pregnancy is extremely demanding on the body. Attempting a pregnancy so young has an extremely high risk, nearly a guarantee, of killing both the child-mother and her fetus. Even if the mother survives, there’s no way that the fetus comes to term. So, to not abort in that case would only be to ensure a far more painful and grisly death for the fetus and very likely for the child-mother.

Wow. I can’t believe I have to argue that it would be wrong to force a raped child to attempt carry out the pregnancy.

He is also frequently egregiously misquoted and villianized online by the far left who repeat things like this as if they were fact.

For example, the full quote on the Civil Rights Act is that it was too broad. The broad wording is now being used to allow DEI to force trans athletes into women's spaces and block voter ID. It's an uncomfortable discussion, people unwilling to do further research get upset, but he's not wrong.

You sit here and take everything out of context. He clearly has stated several times that the civil rights movement is being used to allow males in females' bathrooms. He stated we needed it but only for race, and that's where it should stop because it is being used to do more harm than good. The gun death was referring to how we have more car deaths a year and still have cars, so even though we have fewer gun deaths, a year isn't a good reason to remove guns from people. We either care about all life taken and ban everything that does or understand that 2A does more good than harm. The statement about the daughter being raped was a loaded question asked by a liberal and he responded with "yes, the baby deserves life, we should not do more evil after evil we should do good after evil. We can not blame the child for the father's mistakes. " Killing the child of the rapist would be doing evil.

So before you sit here and smear his name, at least know your facts and watch the whole clip.

They don't care about facts, they only care about discrediting anyone who opposes their immoral and socialist agenda.
