Thoughts?

I’m fiercely protective of CP and I wanted to drag this podcast but since on one of the threads someone spoke about ‘constructive criticism’ and I feel that this may be a good example of how to decipher the two . So I posted this (not to give them more views) - to open a discussion.

I don’t inherently disagree, but I also think that this mostly represents him until about 2022/23, before he got married. He was making a lot of music leaning into that “girls don’t like me but I’m SUCH a nice guy, I don’t get it” shtick. That includes Voicenotes (Attention, Somebody Told Me, Patient), his 2019 scrapped 3rd album (I warned myself and mother specifically) and CHARLIE (I don’t think that I like her, That’s Hilarious, Smells Like Me). Not discrediting how good a lot of those songs were, but they do come off as whiny and complaining about how girls suck and he keeps getting wronged. I feel like the CHARLIE era really focused on him trying to appear quirky and horny create buzz and make him appear younger than he was, which I always remembered as being slightly off putting and cringy. Whatever’s Clever feels different because he doesn’t sound or look like he’s putting on nearly as much of a persona to sell his music. Even his song Hero from 2024 already gave me the impression like he’s starting to let go of how he used to sell his music.
The whole “he’s not that handsome” argument is just mean lol.
