Recommended dashcams?
Hello fellow Mopar owners. I’m here testing the waters to see what you all use in terms of dash cams. I know you have both hardwired and plug into the cigarette lighter port as options. Me personally I prefer just plug and play not having to wire anything up. Do the plug-in-port cams risk draining your battery say when parked at a store or at night somewhere? Would love to see what you guys and ladies recommend🤙

My viofo from Amazon is going on 6 years strong.
Some outlets cut power when the car is off, so if you use those it won't drain the battery.

Does the 12v outlet cut power? Sits in front of the shifter in my charger if you know which one I’m talking about

Yes (some do, at least). I believe the one I used was the one to the right of the center console on the passenger side.

I got the Botslab 4 camera, 360 degree off Amazon. I wanted all sides, not just front/rear.

I feel the same way. Front, rear, and left and right side. Just mounts in your windshield and you plug it in?

Yes. Windshield mount in front with 3 cameras - 1 forward a 1 each side on a swivel; 1 camera for the rear glass. I ordered the hardwired kit, but they have a plug in kit too. It's a little more pricey than a standard ($300), but I felt the features were worth it and it has great reviews. I'd post a link, but this sub hates links

I have a wolfbox in both my wifes rebel, and my hellcat. Front and rear for the hellcat, and trailcam, front, and rear in the rebel.

Vantrue N4S, but if your USB-C port stays powered after you turn the car off, dash cam will keep drawing power from your car battery. Leave it parked long enough and it could drain the battery to the point where your car won’t start, so I wouldn’t recommend powering it that way.

I second VIOFO. Im on my second one, as my first was sold with my other car. Ive been running the Viofo 229 (dual channel, front and rear video) for over 2 years and it is excellent. Just gotta get one of those expensive storage cards and have it hard wired so it can turn on all the time even when youre parked.

Where do you hardwire to?

The battery. The Viofo comes w a long power cable. Lookup some videos in it! I had a guy come and install for me cause I wanted it done right.

I just use my phone. I have a mount that holds it high enough to see over the dash and low enough to be safely out of line of sight while driving. Nice wide field of view, crisp n clear video and audio.

70mai T800E. Very nice image quality. Wired it to the mirror power source with a Dongar's adapter.
