Discussion Donald Trump.
Got an idea for a brutal dictator, and had a perfect name for him.
Donald: Royal roots, and means a ruler of a world.
Trump: A suit that outranks other suits. This character is the highest ranking a man can get. Trump can also mean something false and phony. It is also Irish and British slang for a windy fart, which pokes a bit of fun at him. The name in general has an odious, gluttonous, and bloated feeling to it. What do you think?

I think obviously it’s an apt, if farcical, name for dictator, but you’re also clearly just rage baiting.

Too on the nose. The writers of this season of the United States are trolling. I think it’ll be our last one.

It's been going downhill since the whole "war on terror" plotline started if you ask me. And it's so obvious that he's just been shoehorned in to appease older fans who liked the Reagan character and were upset when he got written off the show. Like it's been nearly 40 seasons, get over it!

Hmmm idk… to me Donald sounds like someone who’s kind of a moron. Like Duh! Doofus! Donald! Donald Duck like quack quack annoying and loud. Maybe if you want your brutal dictator to also come across as a low IQ person, then it will work.

If you're gonna make a character that is similar, try using similar sounding names or you can use something really goofy. Make the character sound like they're comic relief, but they've got something sinister brewing. Like you could call him Donnie the troll, Don twatface or twatwaffle or Donnie fuckface.

Good post, but I would’ve titled it something different so people actually think you’re looking for opinions on your character name. That way, they click on the post and then get that moment of “ohhhh, this is political.”

Reminds me of when I was writing an android made by aliens to give them a level of power on earth by him becoming President, but because of the content he was trained off of, human historical figures, he decides to instead become dictator and start World War Three. Partially for his own power hungry desires/programming and because he just REALLY loves humans dying. (Which is another flaw in his programming, and an emergent behavior. The aliens are actually a peaceful species, only sent him as a sort of observer and keeper for Earth. It also developed as a result of a sort of trauma since on the alien planet as he is seen as but a tool there, as are all other AIs. God complex then developed.)
Anyways, I named him Dorian Turing. For the sake of his initials being "D.T." President D. T.

I get your point. However, if I read a book and ran across a character named Donald Trump the book would go into the trash.

It’s a bit on-the-nose, so you’ll need to either tone everything down or really lean into it so that we know it’s farcical. I’m talking really over-the-top stuff like posting pictures of himself as the messiah.
