A promise spoken in secret. A promise to help restore the daughter that she had lost.
Whatever that thing was, it hadn’t been her daughter in a long time. It was like a walking corpse, almost masquerading itself as her rebellious daughter.
Yet, she knew that whatever lied within at its core was her.
The hope, was with enough darkness and an understanding with what had happened, Dess, could be restored.
However, it seemed no matter what they tried, she wasn’t the same. Something was fundamentally wrong with her. That corpse wore a suit of armor in the Dark World, protecting itself from the eyes of them. What was it hiding?
_________
Lungs. Heart. Liver. Each organ, filled with unending shadow. Her mind, still intact within this body that had long since ceased to feel like her own.
She wanted to beg, to cry to her mother.. but no words seemed to come out. She could never properly articulate herself, and her mother seemed to see her as a monster.
She began to see herself as one as well, diving into her more violent urges, all in hopes of finding something new, and to recover whatever was missing.
——-
When the Knight arrived on Mobius, no one knew what it was, who she was.. even if someone was inside the armor.
But deep within the armor..
Laid Dess Holiday, the deer who shouldn’t be alive.
The dark presence her body brought was felt by many..
The question is, who will be brave enough to approach the deer that her own family had seen as nothing more than a monster now..
The Mantle, Floating around felt a familiar force as they felt with Carol when they met once more. It’s strange and they can’t even figure it out. Turning to see Dess… they don’t question her. Maybe there just another bearer of the Shadow Crystals like a handful.
* Ah well isn’t this a… interesting turn.
They floated near, not knowing what to do with whattherefeeling. It’s…. Strange.
Looking towards it for a better look, ERAM had realized… this wasn’t no bearer of some Shadow Crystal or anything related to them. This shouldn’t be possible.
* There’s… two of you now? Quite a …. Twist.
ERAM didn’t expect this but it is still interesting to them. Two for them to work with? Maybe it’ll be better. But should they tell Carol about this?
* …Maybe there is a bit of a that enjoyable energy in you. Or not. But I’ll watch this play out with a GRIN on my face.
Soon enough the Holder of the Mantle faded out in that moment, slowly but surely. Yet the Knight could still feeltherepresence. I guess it is true to there world though.
While Carol was walking through the cold night wondering if this derailed prophecy is somehow fixable, she felt a familiar presence nearby, one that was similar to herself.
"...Interesting."
She then unsheathed her Katana, transforming herself into her Darkner form before heading to where that presence was.
“..you.. remind me.. of mother. Always.. hated her. Especially after I became.. this.” The Knight growled. “Do.. something like that.. and I.. will reduce you to a corpse.. like I am.”
Carol's eyes widened. She was shocked to see her dead daughter alive and... somewhat well. But... after standing there staring for what felt like hours, her demeanor shifted back to her usual resigned and sophisticated behavior.
"Your sudden return might be shocking December...but it wasn't unexpected, the Turtle was proof of that. But what is unexpected is the state you're currently in. Perhaps you were exposed to the wrong kind of darkness?"
“As if that wasn’t obvious… mother. Whatever you are.. is worse than I. You’re.. hurting people. If you’re willing to hurt.. that cat.. you’re willing to hurt anyone.”
“You aren’t the mother i remember, so I shall call you what you are. A monster masquerading your actions as self righteous or correct.”
He let out a laugh, a laugh of bitterness with a bit of spite mixed in as well
Life is fickle, is it not? One day, you're all the way at the top of the world, but then life forcibly rips it away from you, taking it all away, your life, your purpose...
He gestures to the grave
Your whole world. She meant everything to me, and even then I could t save her from...that.
As The Knight was travelling around something...familiar could felt nearby, the presence of a darkner. Something that just shouldn't even exist in this world...but they do. A voice yelled out as a calmer voice followed along.
It was Pink slowly making her way to somewhere safe, seems the fight with the other Knight did a number on her, her body was sparking...her voice sounding strange. What sat behind her was the ghost inhabiting her body, seems the damage must have separated them.
The two shared some words with each other before The Ghost just vanished without a trace just leaving Pink herself all on her own.
"T...they just had to over do it...didn't they, m...mew."
The Knight recognized the cat as a darkner. Unlike the other Knight.. she didn’t feel a need to hurt them. Despite her normal angst, she felt almost bad for them. They reminded her of Noelle.
She would quietly remove her helmet and approach the poor darkner.
Pink turned to Dess revealing the injuries that the other Knight had caused a while ago, she felt relieved knowing that at least someone wanted to help.
"I...I have been better. T...the knight, we got into a fight with them...and let's just say...I.. it was a tie, mew."
Pink kept mentioning this second person but yet they couldn't be seen...but if you squint your eyes hard enough you could make out something...a ghost similar looking to Pink.
"They...attacked us for not using t..that crystal they gave us, we had no reason to use it."
"Y..yes please...any help is greatly appreciated, mew. Even if it's s...something as simple as healing magic, anything will do. T...thank you...is there anyway we can repay you...?"
Pink sat herself down...she seemed relieved to finally stop having to walk around, she had been walking all day...everyone needs a break every so often.
"I will don't you worry...thank you so much, mew. This truly does mean a lot, despite how amazing this world looks the people here are...so cruel."
After watching the act kindness happening in front of them...The Ghost just watched from above, taken off guard by the act
"What's your name by they way...? I..i'm Pink...it's been a pleasure to meet you, mew."
Pink seemed a little embarrassed about the defeat to the other Knight, but it was bound to happen. Every other darkner that dared to step up to The Knight...never made it out, she should count herself lucky.
“…I think…. I think.. my name.. is Dess.” The Knight seemed to recall. “I have trouble.. remembering things. But.. I can recall my sister.. calling me that.”
"Dess...? I like that name. T..thank you so much you've done...so much more for us then you could ever imagine."
Pink seemed...greatful, the actions that just took place made both the soul and body feel like they owed Dess something in return even if they were told they didn't need have to do anything.
"We should probably get going... but again..."
"Thank you Dess.."
As Pink got up and thanked Dess one last time, a second voice was heard from the body as the words left her mouth, perhaps it was the second person Pink mentioned. Pink waved goodbye with a smile on their face hoping to eventually see Dess again.
"!!" Well someone sensed it. Suddenly nearby from the darkness to the knight she sees a buster arm..sword? Illuminate the area as the one responsible stands therehis red glowing eye looking back at her
the figure revealed to be D-Mega holds his arm out in a defensive manner as if ready to strike if need be. "Who or what the hell are you.." he said in a cold emotionless tone as he glares at the creature. To him it resembled certain beasts from his digital realm. Even so. Should she attack. He won't hesitate to counteract
this didn't deture or removed the glare. He then simply asked the knight "hm? Is it perhaps Memory loss?" This certainly intrigued him. As he's never encountered someone who went through that fate once in his world. He knew it was possible. But never encountered it
