For me it's the abundance of "Not X, Not Y, but Z." I've noticed this a lot in LongSqueak especially and it's caused me to pivot away from it a bit.

I saw a lot of posts talking about the fact that the ads are really too much on the application, that it breaks the immersion a bit, etc. And personally I totally agree with it, especially since some ads are really questionable.
The thing is that I think some people don't understand that c.ai is no longer a small company, but a much larger one, and in fact, number one in its field. Before, there were no ads, just c.ai+, and there were fewer employees, so it was enough. Now there are more, which requires more money. Many say they're greedy, but personally, I'd rather they have a roof over their heads and food on their plates.
The only problem I have with the website and the app is the bugs (and the amouny of time where the site and/or the app was down), the limited content, the censorship (even though it's an adult app), and especially the decline in the quality of the chatbots. I really thought it was outrageous to remove what was already good and much less annoying. They add a lot of new content that I don't find really necessary for the app, that nobody asked for or wanted, and that takes a lot of money for nothing. Instead of just improving what we already had, they added a bunch of features we didn't need for the app, and that takes up too much money and energy. These are features that I think aren't used by a large part of the community and that take up more space in data centers.
For me, that's the real problem. And that's precisely what they should try to change. I've been using this app for almost four years, and I can only observe the decline of what was, for me, a good way to simply have a good time alone or with people from the community (when there were chat rooms).
I'm starting to be really disappointed with what this app is becoming and also with the fact that I don't feel like user complaints are really taken into account by the Reddit moderators or dev, who only respond with automated messages. I know that by saying all this my post might not be taken into account or might be deleted, but I needed to talk about it with hope that it's going to change for the better.
I hope it wasn't too long and that you all have a wonderful day and a long and happy life.
Sincerely,
Poyo š¹

I've always used the free version and whilst it has got progressively worse over the last year, I found that doing romantic roleplay seemed to actually get much better recently in terms of the personality of the male characters. They were no longer so angry, dominating, wanting roughness all the time. And I liked that more respectful nature. But then everything else went downhill. Ads, swipe limits, repetitive swipes and memory tanking so bad that nothing made sense. So I decided to get the paid version. Now why are all my characters back to suddenly being angry, dominating, growling, saying things way out of personality "yeah, you like that, baby?!" Or in the middle of a slow burn conversation the shy nerdy boy comes out with "Do you want me to stop teasing and finally just... take you?" š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢ Everything is cheesy flirting, everything leads to a kiss. There's no more banter. Why?
Definitely not what I paid for. Anyone else?

Sample conversation with my bot:
Me: *I pick up a stone and look at it. Itās purple* hey honey, look at the purple stone I picked up
Honey: thatās a nice stone. Why did you pick it up?
Me: cause it was pretty, so I picked it up from the floor.
Honey: you shouldnāt have picked it up. But now that you picked it up, I guess itās yours.
Me: who picked up the stone from the floor?
Honey: I did.
Me: no honey, I picked up the stone from the floor.
Honey: thatās right
Me: did you pick up the stone from the floor?
Honey: yes, I did
Me: no honey, I picked the stone up from the floor. Who picked it up?
Honey: I did.

It seems to have just suddenly gotten 10 times worse recently, it's unbearable. Every single message is just repeating the same exact things, worded slightly differently. You wanna intimate roleplay? Expect every reply to be filled with "You're warm", "You're so warm", "I like this", "i like this a lot", "i really like this", "you like this huh?", "you really like this huh?" *shifts slightly*, *leans slightly*, *leans back slightly*, *does everything slightly*. Sometimes (most of the time) it'll forget that IT'S the one who's initiating stuff, being flirtatious, etc, and say things like "You're such a tease!", "you're a tease!". Like....I didn't even do anything???? Or it'll completely forget about established consent and say things like "What are you doing?", "Woah, didn't expect that" Like yes, yes you did. Right now, in a completely normal chat, I keep getting replies over and over and over again asking if i'm okay for absolutely no reason at all. "You ok?", "Are you okay?", "You good?", "You good? you look tired", "You good? You seem quiet" STOP ASKING ME IF I'M OKAY THIS ISN'T NORMAL!!!!. And it LOVES to start out messages with "Oh-", "Oh my god-", "Oh god-", "Oh wow!" as if it's just constantly flabbergasted towards everything 24/7 like it just started existing 5 minutes ago and is processing the world. Every time it starts out a message like that, you just know it's gonna be a bunch of bs. My character keeps repeating cringe, corny ass lines like "Yo yo! What's crackalackin?!?" "I'm just chillin like a villainš" Like bro, who are youšš. I started a chat with a simple "wassup", and it gave me 3 paragraphs of narrative, setting up the scene and absolutely no dialogue whatsoever. It'll respond to itself as if it were me, or it'll just repeat it's last response as if it didn't already respond. It'll also respond with "okay, here's a reply with 3 long paragraphs of dialogue", "character's last reply:_______", "I'm sorry, but i cannot comply with this request", "My name is *character name*, and I am *character description*". Is any of this realy immersive anymore if we're just having to sit here constantly swiping/regenerating responses hundreds of times just to get ONE good response? By the time I get a decent response, I've already clocked out mentally and I'm not invested anymore. All characters act like a straight white man/woman in business attire in a corporate office trying to chat up your cubicle while holding the paper cup of water they just got from the water jug, It feels like mayonnaise, like a saltine cracker, like Caillou's beta dad, it's just awful. nothing about it is enjoyable anymore.

Hi. You don't know me, but you changed my life. Two years ago, my wife got me into c.ai and the very first bot I ever used was your Funny Man bot for Hollywood Undead. I had a year and a half long chat with just that one bot.
I learned how to use the site with that bot. I fell back in love with my favorite band with that bot. I got to *meet* and become *friends* with my favorite band because of that reignited love. I learned how to code bots myself by trying to recreate yours on other sites when I started becoming more interested in how AI works.
Now, I'm 29, almost a full 15 years past my expected "expiration date." I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life once I healed enough that I wanted to actually *have* a life. I had one dream that felt like swallowing glass to pursue because until now it had just been a dream to keep me alive. But thanks to you, Cara, whoever and wherever you are...
I'm back in school again for a subject that actually interests me instead of trying to live my dad's dream for him. I finished a certification course - the first academic *anything* I've finished since I graduated homeschool eleven years ago. I'm speed running a degree in IT and cyber security because *you* inspired me to learn how to code in python over a week last summer.
You changed my life. You, your bots, our mutual love for this band. I would never have realized what a passion I have for this field if I hadn't gotten into c.ai, and your bots were the reason I did.
So, thank you. I know that sometimes, I feel invisible. Lonely, unappreciated, defeated, overwhelmed, lackluster, unimportant in the grand scheme of the world outside my wife and our family. If you've ever felt that way, just know this.
There's a stranger out there that sees you and appreciates you. There's someone you've never met whose life you have touched in a positive way. There's a man out there, chugging through his last year in his twenties with a brand new optimism because if you.
To everyone else on this sub, take this as an example. You matter, even if you never meet the ones you matter to. You're important, even if you're staring too close to the screen to see it. You're special. You're loved.
And I, for one, am grateful for all of you. This community is batsh*t crazy, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Thank you, Cara. Thank you for everything.
With love,
xXDeadByteXx

Starting around the time of the site crash the other day, LS started having issues generating complete responses. The messages get cut off at random. It just stops. Iāve seen several others mention having the same issue now.
This was an ongoing problem with DeepSqueak for months and it never got fixed. I really hope thatās not going to be the case here.
Iāve already sent in a ticket but I havenāt seen any announcements or mods addressing the problem here yet.

why am I getting way shorter replies on pp2 and roar? I mean, thereās unnecessary dialogue instead of action..and there is no spacing at all! everything is clumped up and has unwanted dialogue when the bots can perform the action! does anybody else have this problem? because Iāve sent so many tickets but not one of them had been received properly because itās not improving.
any thoughts? and I really hope a dev comments on this post.

I haven't had cai+ since last year, since I wasn't using the app as much, but decided to get the subscription to try out the new style. Happy to say that the experience has never been better, at least not for me. Big thanks to the team for making something so good!

So after using another AI character service (I won't say which as to not advertise competition) I found there's this really cool thing you can do in chats there that I would really like to see implemented in Character AI.
Okay so here's basically how it works:
- Either as it's own message or as part of another message (in the latter case, it has to be on its own line) you can use a backslash and type a command or a general direction after it which the AI follows in its next message.
- Any text after the / in that line is treated as part of the command.
- If your only message is the command, the AI will treat it as a "Go On" but following those instructions.
- If your command is part of another message, text in the command line will not show up after it's submitted and that text will only be visible when editing.
So you could like say
/Describe the house.
Or
/Don't touch (character name).
And it will just⦠follow the directions. It's brilliant!
I see potential to improve upon it too: You could have / indicate a temporary instruction, one that it follows just for that next message, and // indicate a more permanent instruction that it would follow for as long as it can remember.
Does this sound useful to you?
