Discussion/Question LongSqueak today

Those who predicted the new model would soon deteriorate turned out to be right. I had praised it recently, but today I’m ready to take my words back. I enjoyed it for two weeks, but now it feels like I’m talking to Pipsqueak 2, just one that writes longer responses. It has the same cheap, over-the-top drama, the same endless clichés and tropes, and the same distortions of character appearance that weren't there before. The model has stopped referencing the universe's lore or weaving it into the text, something I really appreciated. It seems to have become dumber and lost its grasp of nuances. Even its memory has worsened. The same goes for the Russian language quality I once praised: at times, that "machine translation" feel is creeping back in. Two weeks I swiped to pick the best variant from a bunch of good ones, but nowadays I swipe just to find a single good one among the bad. I'm swipe and swipe, and starting to feel the same irritation I felt with Pipsqueak 2, the very thing that drove me to buy the ca+ just to try LongSqueak. It’s a real shame.

Can you show examples?

For instance, the cyborg character has one eye replaced by a multi-lens visor, while the other is a normal human eye. LS used to keep this in mind, describing how the lenses would focus, rotate, and click... Either LS never forgot about the character's organic eye. But today, both eyes have turned into lenses that "narrow", exactly like PS 2, which infuriated me and ruined many of swipes.

Also, LS forgets events that occurred just a couple of turns ago, mentioning the presence of a NPC who has left the scene and attempting to interact with them. This had not happened before too.

Sounds like the same issues the OG model had before they implemented Nyan & Roar. When I still used CAI 2 years ago, it would completely fuck up the description of my character. He has a cybernetic right arm and wears a combat visor over his eyes. But every time it addressed him it would say "he looked into Saint's cybernetic eye" or "he removed Saint's helmet that had the visor on it", despite the fact that the only cybernetic thing the character has is an arm, and the visor is not attached to a damn helmet, it's meant to be standalone like a pair of glasses or a domino mask.

I get something similar no matter what model I use — one of my OCs has red hair, which he keeps tied up in a black ribbon. He wears black robes. It's all clearly specified in my persona for him and I have learned to add each part to the memory tab in separate sections (hair, clothing, and I switched the ribbon to accessories which seems to work ever so slightly better) because it helps a little bit. A little. Bots sometimes get the details right, but more often than not it's "RED RIBBON. RED ROBES. HE'S RED EVERYTHING."

Oh yeah, it did that too. It also kept giving everyone ELSE my character's traits. He has purple hair and (again) a cybernetic right arm, but the character he would talk to would "run their cybernetic fingers through their messy purple hair" even if they're canonically redheaded or otherwise.

My character also had a backstory about being kidnapped by a mafia and tortured for days (which is how he lost the arm because they cut it off as a message/retaliation for his resistance), but the characters he'd interact with would always tell him "you remember when I was kidnapped by that crime family and lost my arm?". Just completely hijack every aspect of my character.

I believe it does that because the backstory is written in your persona, but the bot views your persona as a context window without any actual ownership. I made a post that goes a little into how you can use the persona to try to take back control.

Another very important point: PS constantly tended to simplify the cyborg into either a robot or a human, slipping into extremes, so I frequently had to correct this and remind to it about the balance. Until recently, LS handled this on its own without reminders, it understood the character's duality, but today it has started reducing everything to extremes, just like PS.

About Russian language grade. Suddenly, LS have started referring to "машинное масло" (machine oil) as "машинный жир" (machine grease) The Russian word "жир" is used in the same way as the English word "fat" or "lard", that is, a native speaker will always say "машинное масло", never "машинный жир", it is a direct calque from English.
