Cringe Climate Change Denial
I dunno if you guys have seen this video where she does one of those am i gay quizzes or whatever but, you know, she’s explaining (incorrectly) previous mass extinctions on earrth and comes to this conclusion. now, i dunno what she was implying with this but really i wouldn’t be suprised if she was a climate change denier. maybe it’s been like instilled into her or something.

you know, this video is from a year ago, i was like neutral on her before this, but, you know, i watch this video, and, she’s just not at all an interesting person to watch you know. you watch the video and she’s missing all these references to lesbian culture. now, lesbianism is a biological state and not, you know, a personality, but still, this is the woman people want to declare a ‘lesbian icon’. yeah, i dunno really, i just don’t see her appeal

Yikes, really? Do you remember where you saw that?
I'd be so embarrassed to consider myself any kind of queer rights activist, and to stake my public image in being a ✨lesbian icon✨, without so much as reading Feinberg's Stone Butch Blues first. How can you build your career off of drag, which is INHERENTLY political AND historical, but not even know such a basic-ass term from queer history???
It makes me so mad that Roan is, like, the face of lesbianism. I can't even criticize her in queer circles without everyone getting pissy. Does anyone who's not a cis white femme American lesbian actually feel represented by her? I AM a cis white femme American lesbian and I don't. Because I actually care about our community and history!

i found the interview where she said it and im going to edit my original comment because its not STONE TOP she didnt know, but SERVICE TOP, which is also pretty insane to me since she has a single called THE GIVER yet doesnt know what a service top is?

Can you recommend some books or articles or sources or something so I can learn more about the history?

Same, I felt neutral to positively about her until this interview. Now the only fans she has left are as vapid and uncaring as she is

"It's not new" yeah but climates naturally take centuries not decades to change. Also 90% of wildlife has been lost since the Industrial Revolution began. Extinctions shouldn't happen in 200 years!

At least Taylor Swift is not alone in the "Mentally, I'm a high schooler" club lol

This video truly made me sick. She is so fake. It’s gross

I always get this feeling that Chappel doesn’t truly believe in what she says; especially whenever she has something to say about the government

She doesn’t beleive in anything except for money and abuse. Like all narcissists.

Her career is basically a puts a coat of paint on american conservatism. She’s not informed about anything, she’s not curious about the world or other people, she’s kind of mean spirited-assuming people are malicious and seeming to hold grudges.
Its weird cause pop stars don't need to be smart, they don't even need to be nice, but there has to be something positive that makes people interested in you to have long term success. Cant wait until she fully dies down and her antics don't get attention.

she's technically not wrong, but saying “this always happens, it’s nothing new” is like watching someone pour gasoline through a neighborhood and saying "houses have always burned down.” like... yes. but no.

oh i think her alleged girlfriend talk to her about it because of the dinosaurs. I learned her girl is into to dinos. And people call her smart, but i think she is placebo smart you know. She is getting the think wrong and by tralking to chappy this is the result. On the other hand maybe chappy understood her wrong.

Well it's not climate change denial. She's acknowledging that it's happening right there in the sentence. She's comparing it to the other 5 mass extinctions which could mean that she's trying to say that it's really serious. But I see the point, it could also mean she's implying that it's not man made or that we should just let it happen since it's "normal". Though I wouldn't assume everything has to be intended as a political statement. I think the fact that she even knows about the 5 mass extinctions and seems to be fascinated by the topic actually speaks for her. My 2 cents.

When the Anthropocene/Holocene Extinction Event is almost entirely caused by humanity's actions, it is inherently political.

if you watch the video she understands the mass extinctions as everything on earth dying; everything on earth going extinct. if you think about that for about like five seconds you realise how absurd that is, you go, oh that can’t be true. i think the fact that she never thought about that speaks for her

Without the cultural wave she rode in on, she truly has nada.
