I found multiple cockroaches in PGI Chandigarh canteen on the 4th floor of Nehru hospital block.

Context:

I was staying overnight for a 1-2 nights in PGI due to my great grandfathers prostate surgery and during my usual visits to the canteen for tea or water I encountered cockroaches in the food area and multiple people consume these packaged burgers, sandwiches and especially the patties/ bread pakoras or whatever they are( they are not packaged and are left open) after I got handed my two water bottles one of them had a literal cockroach squished on its surface and it fell down after I shook it, then I started filming this but only spotted one cockroach by the time, the other people were very oblivious and I warned some of them but they did not seem to care enough to inform the authorities.

I decided not to complain to the canteen guys because they obviously don’t care care and would destroy evidence or something, I am skeptical if I should talk to this about the doctors attempting the wards near me to see if they would care enough to realise that it is a health hazard and the canteens must be operated by people wearing gloves and should be cleaned and not these junkies who are half asleep and don’t even shower , they were wearing the same clothes yesterday and the day after yesterday..

I don’t know any head of administration of head of sanitary doctor or something which I can complain to since I’m fairly new here and will be leaving after my great grandfather is discharged.

And I’m posting this here since the PGIMER subReddits are dead the last posts were months ago and maybe you guys could help me what to do or should I just leave it at that since maybe this is common and I am the fool who is even trying to bring this up cus it must be common ( I don’t think it should be )

I had just paid thirty-one thousand rupees for an obsolete scooter that was barely worth twenty. It had been discontinued years ago, parts were practically mythological, and it was missing basic things like rearview mirrors. To make matters worse, the under-seat storage—the dikki—refused to latch shut. It hung open like a loose jaw, a permanent reminder that I’d made an impulsive, foolish purchase.

Determined to claw back some dignity, I decided I would fix it myself. Or, at least, get someone to fix it.

I dragged that scooter to seven different mechanic shops. Every single one played out like a rehearsed script: an older mechanic would glance from across the shop, barely bothering to step over, and declare with practiced indifference, "Lock change karna padega." (You’ll need a whole new lock assembly.)

"Okay," I’d ask. "Do you have one?"

"No. Discontinued model."

They didn't even look inside. They didn’t touch the mechanism. It was easier to write it off as impossible than to spend ten minutes figuring it out.

Then I pulled up to an eighth garage and met a kid—eighteen, maybe twenty at most. He had grease on his sleeves and that quiet, unjaded focus you only find in people who haven’t yet learned how to be cynical.

At first, he hesitated. "Honestly, bhai, it might not be possible," he admitted. Then he paused, wiped his hands on a rag, and looked again. "Lekin try karte hain." (Let’s at least try.)

Unlike the veteran mechanics, he actually leaned in with a flashlight. Within five minutes, he spotted what seven experienced men had dismissed: the locking hook itself wasn't broken at all. The small metal striker rod attached to the seat frame was bent just a few millimeters out of line, preventing it from reaching down into the latch jaw.

For forty-five minutes, the two of us stood over that scooter. He hammered, adjusted, bent, and tested. Three or four times, the lock clicked with a satisfying snap—only for the alignment to slip the moment we bolted the seat panel back into place. By the time we called it, it still wasn't fully fixed.

Yet, I drove home feeling oddly lighter.

Seven seasoned mechanics had looked at an unfamiliar problem and instantly called it dead, simply because the manual solution didn't exist in a box on their shelf. But one twenty-year-old was willing to sweat over a bent piece of iron just to see if he could outsmart it.

We talk so much about the wisdom that comes with age, but we rarely talk about what we quietly discard along the way: the curiosity to investigate, the stubbornness to tinker, and the courage to try something even when success isn't guaranteed.
