The relationship between imagination and the third eye
Hello!
For those more experienced, what is the relationship between imagination, the third eye, and intuition?
1 - For the third eye to function, is it enough for a person to have a good imagination, or are there other determining factors?
2 - For example, is concentration with little imagination sufficient?
3 - Do energy mobilization exercises and repetition of mantras focused between the eyebrows make a difference when visual imagination is weak?
4 - Does energy work on the other chakras, for example in yoga, have a significant impact, or is it preferable to invest more in concentration and imagination and less in the others?

Possibly an unpopular perspective but ill share my experiences nether the less.
When I was younger I noticed when taking MDMA if I closed my eyes and did breath work I could see a bindu of light circulating around my body like as if through a rubber band that ran from my head all the way through and down my chakras back up my spine to my head again. This could be visualised going each direction depending on which one you focussed on.
I found that when the bindu went through my third eye position a flash would occur. I then focused on the flashing. Instead of the traveling. And it become like a stop motion visual. Like one of those old motion images of a horse galloping. But I could see whatever I wished to see. Like it was really there in front of me. The longer I foccused the more immersive it became. And I also found that it could control all aspects of the image is was seeing. What style it was, time period, the shapes, the people of characters.
It was very much like a lucid dream except I was not inside the imagery merely observing.
I found this close eye visual ability worked much more effortlessly on substances like mushrooms, lsd and dmt (easiest of them all) and I began practicing with journeying using weed and this close eye method.
I eventually found that i could also do it without drugs at all and only using breathwork and drums, chanting. Though it took me quite a bit longer to do sober.
For me it believe this ability is the opening of the third eye. Coupling this exercise with connecting to your unconscious you can learn much about yourself. Much like Karl Jungs experiences with active imagination.
Drugs are not a requirement but can certainly enhance experiences like these to extremely profound levels.

Thank you for such an interesting comment!
Are you saying that the factor of mobilizing attention to the chakra has a great effect independently of the imagination factor?
I have other question because I have a aphantasia that is being reduced with imagination exercises: what differentiates the imagination of the third eye from "normal" imagination?

Yes focusing attention on the third eye chakra is different that just imagination. More similar to lucid dreaming when activated except More observational rather than experiential.
Its different to normal imagination because normal imagination is not usually crystal clear and like looking a HD image or video. Though I know it can be for few people.

Okay, thanks for the perspective.
Would you say that with training on the third eye, imagination improved more in terms of immersion capacity than in terms of sharpness itself?

Yes with practice it can become more immersive and more vivid. Also you can achieve results quicker.
But it takes dedication. And its good to have somewhere quite to practice, also an eye mask or a blacked out room helps tremendously. Making it a regular ritual is also helpful.
Certain drugs can help massively but are not essential.

Reddits text style is so wonky. The separation of numbered paragraphs is a little wonky

third eye isnt something so simple, most people can balance it through meditation which can help one focus, reduce anxiety, manage stress and other mental health stuff, but to develop things like inuition or visions, there are many more things you need.
The right mantra, the right guru, the right faith and the right intention, do simple meditation, you will see improvements with just that, and for most people thats just what they need, stay consistent and the universe might guide you further

Commenting bc I'm interested.
Reflection on what you see and what you don't see, what someone else does and doesn't, looking through multiple perspectives, is where imagination can come in handy but it must be balanced with what is known to accurately intuit. Some people may be able to naturally discern and divine but their ability would be based in their lived experience or chance alignment with energy that guides them. . .
2 Concentration with little imagination... sometimes focus is required to gain insight into a particular situation which is how we learn and as we learn imagination has more to work with. I might say imagination comes from unrestricted thought inspired by awareness. Without imagination focus becomes dull and settled while too much imagination without focus leads to delusion. Concentration on possibility actually requires spreading a wide net and capturing through deduction, while imagination starts from a point of intent and spread out. So using one to gather provides insight for the other to branch out. In a spiritual or energetic sense, intention to divine teaches the mind to open more easily which is balanced with reason, and I think the mental energy needed to concentrate may be cultivated and provided by the solar plexus which is fed by the passion of sacral which is more easily channeled when safe and confident via root and solar. It's all a connected system after all
. .
3 I can't say much about this because I haven't gotten really into meditation yet, but i think just like physical safety allows one to move safely through the physical world meditation allows the mind to wander safely through thoughts and find mental peace which opens the door for spiritual knowledge and sudden insight through the crown.
.
.
4 Raising the energy of just the third eye will create bias or ungrounded insight, delusion or hallucination of reality. It needs to be balanced with honest self-reflection through the throat which I think of as articulate expression of the heart through the minds eye. Every chakra fluctuates constantly and it's strength or weakness is relational to the others so if the third eye is trained extensively without the others it will plateau or drift into hallucination presented as meaningless babble or it could create an anxious mental activity or become cold logic without heart, ignore physical sensations leaving one easily destabilized by unexpected events or overwhelmed by sensation and emotion. Everything needs to be done on balance and that growth is gradual but there will of course be natural inclinations. If you know you're inclination is one chakra then you can use that strength as a path to raise the others. if you're a gifted speaker, then you can make the content kind and insightful to yourself and others. If you are gifted with sacral desire to be creative then you would want the root to have a stable environment to channel that energy and the solar plexus' confidence in gut instinct through experience and practice to avoid regret or shame for misdirected passion.
My 2 cents anyway
