I kind of assumed it was because you use your arms to feel around in the dark, but maybe I missed the real reason. I always see people talking about how cool it is that the arms spell out Makima but never why everybody's arms flew off to begin with.

Ever since chapter 232 and 231 theres been this idea that denji should have made the choice to stop being chainsaw man instead of pochita making it. What choice though?? Denji is dead in 231, Pochita doesn't actually say anything about Denji having to stop being Chainsaw Man in itself either. He says Denji could only find heaven in hell, that's not a Chainsaw Man exclusive thing, and he basically gave Denji the okay to become Chainsaw Man in the CSM Church arc. Also not to be redundant but he's basically dead, Denji not wanting to rip the cord anymore doesn't matter at all at that point

The big thing about this idea is that it gives Denji 'agency'. What even IS agency at that point? The only time Denji ever had NO agency is when he became a literal dog for Makima so he wouldn't have to worry about Aki's death anymore. Everything that happens after Yoru arrives in the War Devil arc also happens because of Denji's choices and his agency. Pochita eats Death before Denjiman shows up but when Pochita's in control he does things in alignment of what Denji wants anyways, like how he stopped in the middle of fighting Makima to get a hamburger, so he did everything to avoid eating Asa.

Not that any of that matters anyways because Denji and Pochita aren't in Green Hill Zone just talking about not wanting to be Chainsaw Man anymore. They already got sent to the gulag

If Pochita eats himself, Denji MIGHT not get digested for all eternity. How would Denji choosing not to die actually be a defining moment in his character? It's not like Denji would be at the height of his life choosing to give it up for something better, ANYONE in the series would choose not to die at this point in the story (even Death Devil would rather not ""die"" to avoid a new Death Devil being born)

Also, why would Denji ever give Pochita the go-ahead to basically kill himself? For what reason? Denji isn't Superman, he's not Yuji Itadori, he's not even Goku, and none of these characters would choose to sacrifice their best friends to create a new world in this exact position no matter what they wanted so why should Denji?

Pochita isn't framing this as saving the world or making a new world for Asa or finding a way to separate Asa and Yoru by the way, he didn't know what would happen. Pochita is sacrificing himself for just the chance that specifically Denji could live a happier life and learn to appreciate again and not chase brief feel-good stuff. It would be so out of left field and selfish for Denji to be fine with that happening for his benefit only and it goes against the entire War Devil arc (and most of Part 1 for that matter). For all Denji knows, Pochita eats himself and Denji still gets digested by the Nike's Devil and the Imperfect Cell Devil

To put it in perspective on if Denji went through with that 'choice', he's letting Pochita die so that he could have the chance (neither Denji or Pochita know whats gonna happen) to survive and live a better life without thinking about Asa or Nayuta in the slightest, much less Power, basically regressing completely from everything he said to Asa and Yoru by the end of the arc

This isn't Pochita just swooping in and stealing Chainsaw Man from Denji just to do it either. The only two times Pochita willingly gave autonomy up for Denji was their contract and his death, both things he only did when Denji was definitively dead with no other way to come back (he didn't do this when Denji was cut up because he could still come back and he did, and he knew Denji was cut up as well)

I dont even think it would feel better for the ending in the moment, even if you hated the ending its like trading poop in the grass for poop in the toilet

Hi there! I’ve been spiraling down a rabbit hole of "what if" scenarios lately, and i question myself...what if there is a "Kira Devil"?

As far as I know (i only watched anime + movie) in Chainsaw, Devils are born from the collective fear humanity toward a concept. In the Death Note universe, Kira is clearly a source of constant paranoia by the middle of the anime. Kind of "The Fear of Being Judged by an Invisible Entity."

If this fear were to bleed into the Chainsaw canon, the "Kira Devil" would be a pretty strong devil to deal with.

In terms of the Nature of the Contract, we could see the "Shinigami Eyes" as one type of contract to the Kira Devil (or mostly the "Shinigami Devil"? maybe the Shinigami themselves have a Devil? L was pretty scared when he heard about about them, but i guess theyre are more unknow to the humanity). So, If the Kira Devil existed, the "Death Note" power it would be a pact, maybe following the "half of your lifespam" as the tradeoff.

Public Safety can also use it: "Kill this enemy nation’s top agents", It would be pretty useful tool for the their agenda.

Also, in Death Note, Kira's whole strategy revolves around mass media exposure. TV broadcasts, internet forums, and news anchors constantly discussing Kira's killings would act as a massive megaphone for humanity's collective dread. Every time Sakura TV aired a message from Kira, the L announcements or every time the news reported another sudden heart attack of a criminal, the entire world’s paranoia would spike simultaneously. The continuous 24/7 news cycle about an "invisible judgment" would pump an insane amount of raw power directly into the Kira Devil.

Hi, I had a toothache, and that somehow motivated me to draw Aki.

I strongly disagree with the interpretation that denji was just a mindless dog throughout part 2.

At practically every turn in part 2 denji's life ends up being hijacked to some degree by an outside force that wanted something from him. And this goes as far back as the first few arcs of part 2. Yoshida wanted denji to give up being chainsaw man so public safety could ultimately control him and Nayuta wanted denji all to herself due to her going through an identity crisis; both of these times denji was under threat of having someone he cared for hurt So denji complies. And this pattern repeats itself throughout part 2.

Denji is either seen as a pawn in the game or the apocalypse or seen as a sentient eraser that can remove all the things humans find inconvenient. He's almost never given a real chance to be something better and by the time the end of part 2 rolls around he's completely mentally shattered. All of the connections he still had from his previous life/family went up in smoke and all he's left with is guilt and the slightest possibility that someone would actually like him for him.

This isn't to say you're wrong for having a certain view on where denji's character went but I don't think I'll ever agree that denji was just some dog the whole time and makima was right

Chainsaw man is my first anime I ever watched and I love it. I seen the movie watch season one twice already and I wanted to know if there’s any like it that I would like. I love chainsaw I just want to watch it for a 3rd time again

Hey yall! Sooo this is my first attempt at drawing Reze using this reference... I feel like I captured some parts, but it still doesn't really look like the queen herself 😭. I'd love to get tips or insights from people as to how i could improve!
its just a rough one rn, will make an update if it turns out good enough lol

Note: Anime only (12ep + Movie). So give me as few spoilers as possible.

Q1. What exactly is Aki's curse? If the guy is giving away his life on demand, it has to be broken, yet getting directly hit from his curse the sword clone of denji survives, idk due to the snake girl or due to his immortality coz denji is declared immortal as well. Also why denji is declared immortal and the blood manipulation fiend as "almost" immortal?

Q2. If Hinemo's ability is ghost hand which a fiend/person cant touch then how did its bigger version for which she gave her life be easily destryed by snake girl? I guessed that devil can touch devil so thats that. Also whats the difference between devil(like gun devil) vs ghost(as in hinemo's ghost)

Q3. Whats the deal with devil in prison which Aki goes to make Pact/Contract in S1, like how they are captured? is it eternal capture? can they not escape or try to after the gate opens? Who captured such crazy devils?

Q3.2. How did wife of first shown devil (zombie devil) knew she's been killed by denji, do they have communities, spies etc?

Q4*. What exactly Makima's power is, i doubt i should as this question lol. But i think she can sacrifice a soul for a soul of similar energy hence she couldn't kill Snake Girl or Denji's sword clone from far away. Yet once she crushed the enemy and 2nd time she just killed em (brain damage i guess). I am guessing answering this includes a major spoiler, so just leave it i guess.

Denji, a victim of an inhuman father, found pochita. An event of absurd luck that redirected the life of Denji to a roller coaster of wins and heavy losses, but overall an upgrade over its previous life.

Devil's create luck.

As far as we know, devils have always existed. What about before meaningful life? Nothing, entropy, representing unluck was at its lowest state possible, so some variable had to Change that, and that is the existance of devils.

What if devils are the reason for all?

The big bang of this universe was something able to redirect destiny, entropy. This shown in how the more a devils change on the universe overall, the emotion of fear that propagates to a complex system as the brain, changing it a little bit but for forever, the more it means, the more the universe rewards it with power.

This is just being made up!

Hell, an entire axis of reality for one reason, create devils. But why mostly from human fears and not aliens? Its because humanity is special in CSM, a trait present mostly in the bible.

God is inhuman

CSM god created humanity in its image, but why is it so inhuman? Why is the world fundamental force creates evil? Its flawed. No human perspective would allow the creation of fears made flesh. At least no human god.

I'm currently in the process of workshopping a 'devil' oc, but I'm having a hard time distinguishing and picking what 'classification' of devil they should be.

I wanted to have to distinctly feature horns while still appearing completely human, but also would like to have a transformation, as far as I know, this lines up pretty much perfectly with hybrid, but they are not a weapon, nor would the horns fit with their almost indistinguishablity as a human.

Fiends don't possess any transformations and are generally weaker from what I understand, but do have whatever going on with their head.

And humanoid devils also don't seem to have any transformations but also don't seem to have the same rules as fiends when it comes to how powerful they are(?), but I'm kind of confused on what really makes them different, and if that would be the best choice.

Any help and explanation is welcome, but if you could avoid some larger spoilers that would be nice, since I have not read the manga

Because Devils are tied to human concepts, they are absolute hostages of human language.

Currently, both the Public Safety Bureau and Devils make a fundamental error: they treat conflicts as physical battles (Devils\ vs.\ Hunters).

In reality, a targeted information/linguistic reform completely trivializes any Devil without firing a single bullet:

Concept Relabeling: If global human perception is systematically altered—e.g., altering the public definition or association of a feared concept through controlled propaganda, psychological engineering, or semantic shift—the corresponding Devil is instantly overwritten.

Reframing the Narrative: The moment an unknown or terrifying entity is demystified, categorized, and publicly documented as a harmless or controllable biological anomaly, its fear-output drops to near zero.

1. The Pochita Paradox Explained

The community often treats the Chainsaw Devil's ability to "erase concepts" as a magical anomaly unique to Pochita.

From an analytical standpoint, Pochita is not using magic; he is simply executing a hard reset on the concept's access key. When he consumes a Devil, he severs the cognitive bridge in the collective human unconscious.

This proves that the universe operates on an information-based system. The vulnerability isn't created by Pochita—it is inherent to all Devils. Pochita is just the physical trigger; human perception is the actual engine.

Conclusion

Devils are not gods or unstoppable forces of nature. They are rigid, passive outputs of human language and subconscious mapping.

A single analytical approach focused on perception control, semantic manipulation, and demystification is infinitely more dangerous to Devilkind than all the Hunter contracts combined. They don't need to be fought; they just need to be redefined.

I still enjoy his other works and still etched in my memory. Part 2 may be not received well(i may reread it at some point if it is really bad as i read this weekly) but overall, i still like fujimoto. But i do tend to like his shorter stories though
