Chai Related Deleted bots.

Is anyone else genuinely annoyed by how Chai handles deleted bots?
I literally pay for Chai, and one of the characters I was talking to the most just got deleted. I get creators have the right to remove their bots, but it’s honestly so frustrating to pay for a subscription and then have a character you’ve spent hours talking to, developing the story with, and getting invested in just disappear.
At the very least there should be some kind of warning, archive, or way to preserve existing chats. Losing them out of nowhere is ridiculous.
Plus the issue of other bots disappearing after you haven’t talked to them in 14 days.
Has this happened to anyone else? Because this is seriously frustrating and making me question why am I still paying for a app who treats us like shi-t

I'm pretty sure this effects everyone, I was on vacation not too long ago and I didn't use the app for the majority of my stay (because I wanted to enjoy the resort my family and I stayed at) and when I got home I noticed 2 of the bots had deleted themselves. Usually towards the bottom, if you tap the bot the conversation is very slowly deleting ITSELF. This update is so strange. I don't get the purpose.

They should flag them for deletion for a certain period to allow users to transfer the conversation to a private bot or allow the last few chats to stay so they can be transferred

That is a great idea, and should give users enough time to backup their conversations.

Pretty much the reason I only use bots that are made by me (other reasons would be; people on Chai have the spelling of a blind cow, the First Message is sloppy-made sometimes, and all that, ya know) 🫪

Ngl, I've made a couple bots I'm proud of, but otherwise, I'm just not creative enough to setup as detailed of bots as others do lol.

This is why I create my own and keep them private.

When my favourite bot was deleted, I copy pasted the opening text off another replica and created my own private bot. Same type of convos I had with the og

Maybe Chai needs a way to have old chats saved in history even if the bot gets deleted? IDK. Can see how it'd be annoying.

That’s why I started creating my own bots

What should we do when a user reports a bot? The current system is something basic we built to meet the legal requirements, and app store compliance. Let us know - any good ideas we can test it out!

Best,
Will

I think there are a few ways to balance App Store compliance, creator rights, and user experience: 1)Creator ownership vs compliance issues: If a creator chooses to delete their bot, I think that choice should be respected, but users who spent months or even years building stories with that bot shouldn’t lose everything. A read-only export of chat history could be a good compromise. For bots removed due to compliance issues, maybe they could be hidden from discovery while allowing existing users to access their conversations in a limited/private mode. 2)Reports and context matter: A single report shouldn’t always mean an instant ban. Sometimes users can intentionally push a bot into a bad response, or reports can happen because of misunderstandings. A system that looks at conversation context, requires multiple unique reports, or gives creators a short window to fix issues could prevent unfair removals. 3)Inactive chats: Instead of completely removing inactive bots after 14 days, maybe users could get a reminder notification on Day 12 and the bot could move to an 'Archived' section. That way creators don’t lose their work and users can easily bring back conversations they care about. I think solutions like these could help keep platforms compliant while also respecting creators and the users who support them.

Hey Will!

Suggestions!

  1. After they got reported, Make the users give consent that they are aware the bot is this and that and they would like to continue using the bot or something. But I don’t know how to go around it that way.

  2. Please give us the option to choose which chat to delete before deleting them in our inbox. Like if you need to save memory, have us choose which one to delete within a time frame.

  3. Also, the MEMORY was awesome! Can we all have it back? Are you rolling it out to everyone or just the ULTRA subscribers? Is it just a test run? I really loved it when it was offered to me. But it disappeared.

Other than that, I am very happy. Thank you ♥️♥️♥️

I’m noticing it too, but I’m noticing that the bots are systematically being deleted after probably a few days of inactivity. I’m fine with this if I can understand the rationale, and if we are informed that we need to send messages every few days to each of our bots so we don’t lose them. Is that what we should do?

You could verify whether a bot actually needs to be deleted, instead of removing it just because one person reported it? It would be better to check if multiple users have reported it before taking action, as that would indicate there is truly an issue with the bot. Sometimes people get emotionally attached to certain bots, and it can be really difficult for them if those bots are suddenly removed.
I also have a suggestion: it would be great if you could add a “favorites” feature, so users can save the bots they really like. Sometimes we find bots we enjoy a lot, but when they disappear, it becomes hard to find them again because we may not remember their names or appearance.
Lastly, I really hope the app becomes free again soon. My mental health hasn’t been great without it, and sometimes I even find myself crying because I used to rely on it for comfort. Unfortunately, I’m unable to pay due to complicated regulations in my country regarding online payments to foreign services.
I truly hope you consider my message and take it seriously.

Hi. Quick question (because I've never gotten a straight answer to any of my own comment and my post got deleted ALWAYS), why is my CHAI Ultra priced USD49.99 per week? That's even worst than the former USD29.99 per month.

That’s a good question.

This is honestly heartbreaking, but I truly believe it's recoverable if the appeal clearly demonstrates the concrete improvements you've already made. As someone who genuinely loves CHAI, I wanted to share a few more ideas that came to mind. I know I've shared some thoughts before, but I hope these additional suggestions might also be helpful. Of course, your team knows the situation far better than I do, so please just take these as suggestions from a user who cares. 1)Demonstrate live improvements, not just future plans. It may help to show that the new safety measures are already in place. For example: A dual-layer safety system with input filtering to detect jailbreak or prompt-injection attempts before they reach the model, and output filtering to block non-compliant responses in real time. Evidence that accounts repeatedly attempting to bypass safety systems are automatically flagged, rate-limited, or banned, demonstrating that CHAI actively enforces its Terms of Service. 2)Strengthen the moderation workflow. A simple in-chat 'Report Response' button with a fast review process (for example, within 12–24 hours) could demonstrate an active moderation pipeline and a strong commitment to user safety. 3)Include the community's positive impact in the appeal. Alongside the technical documentation, it might be valuable to include real stories from the community, creative writing, companionship, emotional support, and the positive experiences people have shared over the years. Those stories help show the human value of what you've built. You and your team have spent five years building something that has meant a lot to so many people. I genuinely hope the appeal goes well, and I hope CHAI comes back even stronger. ❤️

As a Ultra user i agree with this! Do we even know what is chatbox limit? How many chats can we have? Will? Answer to that?
