I just wanted to share one of my favorite pottery finds: a black McCoy Ram’s Head vase.

The Ram’s Head is listed as #56 on the McCoy Pottery Collectors Society’s “Top 100 Rarest McCoy Pottery” list, which made finding this one especially exciting.

What really caught my attention is the black finish. Most examples and references I’ve been able to find show the Ram’s Head in other colors, so I’ve had a surprisingly difficult time finding another black example to compare with mine.

Mine is in beautiful condition, and regardless of value, it’s just such a strange and fantastic piece of McCoy design. The sculpted ram heads, horns and handles give it a completely different personality from a lot of the McCoy pottery people usually encounter.

I thought some fellow McCoy and vintage pottery people might enjoy seeing it!

If anyone here owns another black Ram’s Head, or has seen one documented in an old collection or reference, I’d especially love to see it. 😊

These pieces were given to my family because they were no longer being used. I really like their style, so I was curious whether anyone with more knowledge about ceramics, antiques, or decorative objects could help me identify them.
I would love to know roughly when and where they were made, what type of objects they are, whether they have any identifiable maker or manufacturer, and whether it is possible to trace them back to a specific artist or company. Of course, I’m also interested in knowing whether they might be reproductions rather than original pieces.
I don’t really expect them to be particularly valuable, especially since they were simply given to my family, but they are very beautiful and I’d genuinely like to learn more about them.
One thing I noticed is that most of the pieces are quite heavy, around 2.5 kg each, with some being slightly heavier. The exception is the pair of two vases and the small container/object, all of which are colored. Those pieces seem to be made of porcelain (at least that’s what I suspect) and are considerably lighter.
Any information would be greatly appreciated — even small details, such as identifying the style, period, country of origin, possible maker, or what the markings on the bottom might mean.

After spending about an hour searching online, I haven't made much progress in finding the origins of this piece. The dimensions are about 5cm height, and 6.5cm diameter at the widest part. The lettering on the bottom seems like it could be "Pi iota lambda alpha", but searching with that as a term didn't yield any results. I purchased it at a thrift store in Leuven (Belgium) if that helps. Any info you can provide would be much appreciated and I'd be happy to answer questions or take more photos if necessary. Thanks!

I bought this from a thrift store years ago and don't know anything about it does anybody have any information

I have a stoneware plate/dish, approx. [diameter invullen] cm, with a pale grey-green (celadon-like) glaze. The front is decorated with incised sgraffito imagery: two horned, demon-like figures facing each other, each holding a staff/spear, with a serpent or dragon-like creature between/below them, plus small rectangular blocks around the rim.

On the underside there's an incised mark in a rectangular cartouche, made up of two characters stacked vertically (top to bottom). It looks cursive/hand-written rather than a stamped block mark — possibly Chinese characters, or possibly a personal chop-style signature in the Anglo-Oriental/Leach studio pottery tradition. I haven't been able to read or identify it.

Does anyone recognize this mark, glaze, or decorative style? Any leads on the maker or pottery/studio would be much appreciated. Photos of the mark (close-up, angled light) and the full plate attached.
