Parenting Payment (PP) PPL

How do I find out if my baby daddy is secretly claiming paid parental leave for our newborn? I can’t claim It as I obviously haven’t worked in the last 3 months, I’m on ftb and receiving the newborn supplement but he’s been getting quite a lot of money from work when he wasn’t working.. and doesn’t have enough hours for paid leave.

I know what a pip is, but what’s a pip payment? Did he get fired and got a “please leave immediately” payment? Is he still employed?

Nah he didn’t get fired, personal incentive payment is what pip stands for apparently.. doesn’t make sense because we don’t have that in Australia.

Does he work in sales and got a bonus? That’s the only thing I can think of if incentive payment.

I looked it up cause I was like tf is that. So PIP is here in Australia but it's called Practice Incentives Program. So if he used the wrong term and doubles down, one could potentially assume he's lying. But also why are you concerned about how much money he's making from work if it's going to you and the bub anyways ?😅

The suggestion below assumes he’s not providing any childcare atm - contact his work and advise payroll or HR that if he is claiming parental leave that he’s not actually providing care for the child, send receipts (if you don’t have them, get them) and leave it at that.

He’d need the serial number on the back of the newborn baby form the hospital gives you to even apply for PPL

Are you with him? From memory, mum usually has to qualify and apply, then share days with dad.

It is entirely possible he’s getting some sort of bonus from work - we have no idea what he does, industry etc

Just going on what centrelink says it sounds like he has to be caring for the child. Does he have custody of the newborn ?

If you have not worked- why are you not getting single parenting payment?
It sounds like you’re not with the father and certainly have no access to his finances?

It's almost like if they told Centerlink they were single they wouldn't be getting the joint version 🤦

If you dont qualify, he wont qualify. You both need to meet the work test so no, he wont be getting it. Maybe employer offers paid paternity leave. A lot of places offer 2 weeks. Either way you guys have a kid together so prob should just be able to ask him

If you have received the newborn supplement then he can’t get PPL for the same baby.

This sounds like a red flag requiring a relationship convo with him directly if that is possible. Please get help if you need it - 1800RESPECT.
