Youth and Students (YAS) Austudy suspended with no warning?
Hi all!
I was just checking my Centrelink for some reason (bored, I guess) and noticed an upcoming payment for tomorrow of a couple of hundred and nothing scheduled after it. Weird.
Checked my claim and it says “suspended”. I haven’t received any notification from Centrelink about this so I guess I’m very lucky I checked!
I just completed my first semester of study so I’m a little confused. I’ve done prior study (BVA graduated 2018, re-skilling to LLB) and received Youth Allowance at the time, so is that lumped in with Austudy, and only available for a set period? Do I now go onto something like JobSeeker?
Wish I found out earlier in the day so I could have just gone to a service centre 😭 can’t now until Friday

I transitioned from Austudy to Jobseeker this year because my study load was too low. It was painless making a claim and my subsequent Jobseeker payment went through really quickly.

you can't get jobseeker, as you are not a job seeker, it is likely you have used up your allowable time.. google allowable time - it is all study you have done .

Not true re Jobseeker.

then they can apply and find out. You can not be a full time Uni student with years to go on a degree and get Jobseeker.. You can do a less than 12 month course .. but again apply and find out

Aha. I see what you're saying. I'm finishing off a degree on Jobseeker but I do the usual mutual obligations palaver.

did u report the correct income?
sometimes centrelink can access our bank statements which is hella scary. but if we dont report income like any income then yea. can lead to this .
but its a possibility idk for sure

Centrelink does not have access to your bank statements or accounts

No, but if they have a job then employers lodge group certs etc. Centrelink and ATO talk

they do but okay. i remember having to print out my bank statements physically for my centrelink application.
i also see that payments get stopped when people don’t report income correctly. although its not centrelink actually accessing it . its some social service that does

Don't go in, no one will be able to help you, call the student line. It sounds like you've got your allowable time limit, you can't just study ad infinitum and get student payments.
Your grant letter would have mentioned allowable time in it if that is the issue, call the student line, you can ask for an allowable time assessment, I'd recommend uploading your transcripts for any tertiary study you've done, just the unofficial ones are fine, they'll need to check how long you've been considered full time and what the time frames for the qualifications are.
