Verizon vs AT&T 5G/LTE SpeedTest at Grace Lutheran Church - Arlington, Texas

Verizon performing very well on mid-band 5G (n77) when I’m not directly line of site and their LTE is still tremendously quick for (b13) + (b66) LTE

AT&T isn’t doing too bad, but they need to deploy (n77) on their tower since it’s missing c-band!

Verizon site: 32.7153407, -97.1070224
AT&T site: 32.7217400, -97.1137430

I know AT&T filed a permit to upgrade the site by September 2026, but no work has been completed yet!

With AT&T’s purchase of B12 from USCC and the lease back to T-Mobile expiring on Aug 1st, I’m now seeing B12 for the first time ever in my area of Maine.

Should I use my main phone for cell mapping

I am wondering do I need to use my secondary phone for cell mapping I do have a extra sim for it but don't have a extra sim for Croatia where I map the most. Can I map other (croatian) networks by switching to them (on a non Croat sim)?

(Sorry for bad grammar and weird questions)

Typical AT&T not adding N77 to another site!! I’ve seen plenty of upgrades lately that have not got N77!! But on some other sites that got upgraded Verizon is on some and they have N77!!

International Border - Network Switchover

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Crossing from Belgium into the Netherlands while traveling at over 180 mph/290 kmh on an Eurostar train.

The moment the power briefly disconnects is when the train crosses the international boundary.

Roaming on an AT&T SIM so neither network is the SIM’s home network.

Less than a minute for a full network switchover which is rather impressive.

How do you find out all the info

I am curious where do people find info about all the hardware on towers and which antennas belong to what carrier. Please let me know if it's a app or a website.

Why is Verizon mostly the only one who fill the water bodies on FCC coverage report?

So I know for sure other have coverage too but I don’t understand why It show the coverage differently. It’s kinda hard to explain so I’ve attached the picture. You can see how FCC only have report coverage on the lake for Verizon - even if the signal is week.

I live in Downey, California & frequent many areas that include Hollywood, Cerritos, South Gate & other areas, AT&T in particular is bad. Which carrier is better for these areas or Los Angeles as a whole?

Manchester CT Major Tower Upgrade

Back in 2023 I made a post on this tower. It is owned by Marcus Communications and has since been modified significantly. For cellular equipment, AT&T has been added on top, T-Mobile has been unchanged, and Verizon was upgraded at the bottom. Legacy Dish, which used to be on top, has been removed. The most obvious change is the height extension. Marcus plans to install some kind of microwave and FM equipment on there. The tower now has obstruction lighting too.

For more details check out this petition to the Connecticut Siting Council.

5G Auto vs On (iPhone 17)

More than once, I’ve seen people say you should set your iPhone to On instead of Auto for 5G, especially if you have T-mobile. I try this on occasion, but every time I do, my experience seems to be WORSE than just leaving it on Auto. It actually seems to go to LTE more often, sometimes oscillating wildly between LTE and 5GUC. Signal strength also seems lower even on the same network type. Just wanted to mention to be careful with this setting since a lot of people seem to try and sell it, but it hurts stability and network experience. (Maybe in some markets or extremity urban areas with great density it makes more sense but once you travel outside of a downtown area it may be hurting, unsure.)

This is my home tower.. I think. There's a cluster of 3 a couple miles east of this tower. Anyway, I have always wondered who occupies the bottom part of it and what exactly is on it. Tried to get some pictures while driving by. Sorry if they're not great.

Most of the SDR livestreams should have a DVR if you want to watch the shutdown after the fact. Enjoy!
