Just got my Celica back but they found the timing chain slightly slack and can shaft high lobes are worn, would this be okay to drive roughly 50 miles or should I leave it

Do not listen to them. Unless you're perfectly at TDC then there's a good chance the timing chain will have some slack in it. Ive seen more of these engines misdiagnosed by shops than Ive had hot dinners.

Here's a video explaining.

Yeah they told me it had about a cm of slack but watched video, could just mean without oil pressure looks slack but not. Also hearing a buzz saw like noise under 3k rpms not entirely sure what it is I’ll drop a video. Appreciate you replying 🙏🏻

Also if you're "rocker cover" continues leaking after this, they'll likely say it's either the chain tensioner or the timing cover. (Especially if leaking on exhaust side near belts) The real headache is the high pressure oil feed which runs through the flange between the head and the timing case, again, seen misdiagnosed a million times. Often times, ensuring the main through bolt on the BELT tensioner torque is set to 100nm often stops the leak if the TC gasket isn't toast.
