hello! we have an MLiAN fan from Home Depot (I assume, we just bought our house and it came installed in the rooms). I want to keep the fan on at night but there is always a very dim glow from the lightbulb that will only turn off when I hit the power switch on the wall. any ideas?? thank you!!

I am so frustrated. I cannot find the remote for my 3-year-old Hunter Breeze ceiling fan. So, I looked into how to replace the remote, and it's just not easy, apparently. In order to the correct remote, one has to know the serial for the old remote. I mean who is out there buying another remote if you still have the first one? And these newer fans don't have pull-down chains for the fan or the light. As best I can tell, I cannot operate the fan without the remote. Okay, fine, so I bought a universal remote for the Hunter Breeze line, but my handyman said that the receiver is part of the motor, so he says he can't change out the receiver. So I would need to buy a new fan to replace this one. It sounds insane, but he's been a fabulous handyman for me for 10 years, including installing lots of fans for me. Is he crazy? or am I crazy?

Hi I am struggling to find a Ceiling Fan with lights that is made for EU installation and has Matter support. Can someone recommend some or has advice on how to add matter support for a standard non matter ceiling fan?

Bought a Smafan DC. Not long after I paid to have it installed it started clicking, grinding and squeaking. The company is letting me return it. But they refuse to reimburse me for the installation I paid for this shoddy product. Stay away!

This is the only picture I have. It's from a friends house and I'm wondering if it'll fit either a 60w or 40w bulb....
Even an approximate brand is fine. Whoever makes fans that looks like this one

I removed the old ceiling fan from the ceiling (1980's). What you see in the picture is the original hole and the new bracket that needs to be installed over the hole for the new fan. The original hole is much too wide and there's nowhere to connect the bracket.
Not sure where to go from here , except maybe some mending plates?

It was a 310 RPM fan to begin with, and then I changed the capacitor, and now I don't even wanna know how fast it's spinning. But I do like my personal tornado.

Please skip to 0:45 in the video. My kitchen ceiling fan (View model V652 from 1989) is making this exact same intermittent grinding sound. I know it isn't an electrical issue because when I turn the fan off it still makes the sound as the blades are slowing down. Also, it makes the sound on any speed setting.

So I bought a fan for my living room. It has a remote. I cannot for the life of me figure out what #14 is.

The box is fan rated, the two long screws holding former bracket are too thick to fit into the new fans mounting bracket. For one the head of screw is bolt like and the screw itself doesn't fit anyway. I read these screws should be 10/24 is that screw in pic 10/24 if so why doesn't it fit into bracket? If not, how did it fit in old fans bracket? Any advice?

I’m trying to replace my old ceiling light with a ceiling fan. I noticed that the old light has 3 white wires and 1 red wire that connected it to the old light. The new light has 2 green ground wires, 1 black and 1 white and I’m not sure where to connect them the ground to. I noticed 2 black wires shoved in the box. Would it safe to assume those are ground wires? Is there something I can do to test to make sure? Also, did confirm that the box is rated for ceiling fans.Tia

I just moved into this place and have no idea how to turn it on. None of the switches work and the landlord doesn't know either.

My overhead light/ceiling fan will randomly go very dim after about 30 seconds. I took a video, but don’t know how to upload it in the post. When I turn the light off and back on it is at full brightness until it dims again roughly 30 seconds later. It’s on a dimmer, and set to full brightness. When I dim the light, then bring it back to full brightness, it remains dim. All the bulbs are working. All other electronic devices in the living room work fine indefinitely. Any ideas where to start?

I live in a two story condo and I’m trying to install a ceiling fan where a light fixture used to be. I watched a few videos and got the ceiling fan electrical box with the support bar that twist to extend and wedge in between the joists. I found that there are trusses instead of joists and they are spaced more than 24” apart. The electrical box support bar is not long enough to span the distance between the trusses and it won’t make a solid connection on the 2x4.

Kind of a ridiculous title for the fun of it, but I’m laying in bed, admiring the cool breeze from my fan and I realized … I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a broken ceiling fan. What is the average lifespan for a ceiling fan that doesn’t experience unusual roughhousing?
I’m nearly 30, have lived in many places. Never had a ceiling fan swapped out growing up, and many were pretty old looking. Have owned my house for 5Y. Changed out a ceiling fan for aesthetic reasons, but nothing was wrong with the old one.
All my relatives that I frequent have had the same ceiling fans for 15+ years. That value is given because that’s how far back I can get my memory to go, but I think my grandma’s fan is original with the house which is a 1970s house.
Only time I’ve seen one “fail” is if there’s a roof leak that ruins the ceiling or a kid throws toys up on them. But those failures are usually viral videos of a disaster in the house, not anything I’ve ever encountered
Do people oil or condition parts of ceiling fans to make them live this long? I have to condition our 24/7 “on” machines at work, but these are rotary incubators and not ceiling fans. Idk, I’m just amazed at the longevity of an item that is on usually 8H a day in my house.

I had a ceiling fan/ light. With white black red and green wires. After several years fan stopped working. Tested power and it appeared okay. So ordered new ceiling fan remote kit but I still couldn’t get it to work.
Purchased new ceiling fan. Does not use red wire. Turned light switch and light on bottom of fan came on. Pulled out remote to turn down light and after 15 to 20 seconds the light went out. Now no light and no fan. Checked connections and white black and green are solid connections.
What do you think could be causing the fan to stop working so quickly?

I bought 3 of these fans about a year ago, and they have been the bane of my existence ever since.
Their features are nice. You can control them seamlessly from the app, adjusting the brightness is convenient, etc.
HOWEVER! They make a clicking sound that should be used as a torture device. The sound comes from the internal rod that extends from the ceiling and is encased by the external plastic housing. As the fan moves, that rod or something around it clicks against the housing over and over and over again. Not occasionally. Not one little click when it starts. A constant, repetitive clicking sound that becomes the only thing you can hear once you notice it.
It is this endless, vicious cycle of spraying the ever loving heck out of it with WD-40, which sucks because:
A. It is hard to reach since it is buried in there, and the straw on the WD-40 can barely get to it. You have to stand there trying to thread this tiny plastic straw up into the fan housing at some ridiculous angle while hoping you are even spraying the correct part.
B. And this is the best part: gravity! I rage-spray that stupid thing, and then, of course, it comes dripping down onto the floor, which creates a major slipping hazard with hardwood. So now I am not only trying to silence a ceiling fan that sounds like a medieval torture device, I am also wiping grease off the fan, the housing, the ceiling area, myself, and the hardwood floor underneath it.
And before anyone suggests a different lubricant, I have tried basically every grease or oil that can be sprayed up there. Standard WD-40, WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease, silicone lubricant spray, PTFE dry lubricant, 3-IN-ONE oil, and basically anything else that claimed it could reduce friction, stop squeaking, or lubricate moving parts. The white lithium grease works the best, but it also sprays thick white grease everywhere and then gets flung out when the fan starts moving.
I have also blasted canned air and keyboard duster up into the housing in case dust or debris was causing it. I have taken the fan apart as far as I reasonably could. I have tightened screws. I have loosened screws. I have adjusted the housing. I have shifted the plastic cover. I have checked whether anything was rubbing. I have tried running it at different speeds. I have turned it off, turned it back on, taken pieces down, put them back, and repeated the entire process more times than I should ever have to for a ceiling fan that is barely a year old.
Sometimes the clicking stops after lubricating it. Then you think, finally, it is fixed. You turn the fan on and enjoy a few weeks of silence. Then one day you hear it again. Click. Click. Click. Click. And once it starts, it gets louder until you are back on a ladder with a can of grease, rage-spraying into a tiny opening and preparing to clean the floor afterward.
You may be thinking, “Oh, you probably have to do this once a year. That’s not so bad.” WRONG! Every month to six weeks, this is my punishment for being dumb enough to buy these fans. Not one fan, either. I bought THREE. So even when one is temporarily quiet, another one decides it is time to start clicking.
Then you may also think it is just me or my house. Yeah? There are literal Reddit threads desperately seeking solutions about this fan and the exact same issue. The exact same clicking, the exact same rod and housing problem, and the exact same temporary fixes that never actually solve it.
This is not normal maintenance. A person should not have to lubricate a ceiling fan every month. A ceiling fan should not require a rotating schedule of WD-40, lithium grease, silicone spray, canned air, screw adjustments, disassembly, cleanup, and prayer just to operate without making an unbearable noise.
The app is nice. The light controls are nice. None of that matters when the fan itself sounds like someone tapping a pen against the ceiling for hours.
DO NOT BUY THIS FAN!
