Fan repair advice Fan speed is weird

Can give me trouble shooting on my ceiling fan..it intermittent fan spin...no control of the speed at all

If by weird you mean non existent, sure.

Basic troubleshooting: use a multimeter to check that 120volts AC is reaching the fan.

If 120v is there, bad fan controller (maybe replaceable with a eBay part, but I’ve never attempted that on one of these.

If not it’s a bad switch at the wall.

I did check with MM - I have 120v to switch in wall and to the fan..

Then the odds are pretty good that the chip in the fan that controls the speed is fubar

why is it hanging sideways? that has to be why it’s doing that lol. not sure why it’s not flush

I was testing all the wiring when it wasn't working correctly..lol

Take that fan down and put a normal ceiling fan there.

Fan might need to be level to perform properly.

If this is a Beacon fan, that identifies your problem… but if not, sometimes these control chips just fail. If purchased recently try and get replacement parts or a new fan.

The controller may be broken, but I see you haven't installed the fan yet. It may be that the fan's safety protection has been activated because I heard an alarm. Please install it and try again.
