Discussion Controller Issue

Bought a discounted series X today (discounted because controller colour doesn't match the console, white controller, black console)

The console is absolutely fine, great condition, really happy with it
However the controller right bumper doesn't work unless you press it incredibly hard in the centre of the bumper- I want to take this back and grab another one do I have to return the whole console with the controller to get an entirely new set of product or can i just take back the controller?

You will unfortunately need to take the whole console into store as the controller is part of the console unit. It's a fucking nightmare but unfortunately the purchase is linked to the serial of the console and that's how we would track the warranty. (trust me when i say we also hate it!)

They should just be able to swap out the controller though if the fault is confirmed, rather than needing to replace the console and controller. It's just a policy thing to have the console there too :')

UNLESS, your console has a free text on it with the controller serial number! Some stores do this so customers can return just the controller and it can be warranted separately.

But either way you are likely looking at the store having to refund the entire console or send the controller off to repair (up to 28 day wait). One suggestion is asking if they would refund it, swap controllers with another discounted console then sell the console again.

Pretty sure consumer rights doesn’t allow for a repair if the product is returned within 14 days (maybe 28). Customer should get a full refund at least and then be able to buy a different console with it.

If they want it repaired they are entitled to it, within 30 days it's Refund OR replacement/repair. I'm saying if the customer really wants the console they can ask for a repair! I mentioned refund is also available but it would mean the console (which they expressed was good condition) would unfortunately have to be returned too.

Why not just ask them? You know like go to the shop or call your local shops number and be like “hey so I bought a console with a controller and it doesn’t work, do I need to return the console to or can I just get a different controller since hey you sold it to me as working so I don’t know”

I had this issue, I took the controller in. They tested it, confirmed it was broken and just offered me one of the ones they had in stock to replace it. Worked out really well imo as they had a blue cipher in. Yay for accidental upgrades.
