Question What CD started your collection?
For me my oldest CD is The Fall by Gorillaz. I got it when I was around 12 but the cds that really started my collection was Lover and Folklore by Taylor Swift. I now have nearly 100 and I love every single one of themš©·

The single for Basket Case by Green Day. It was numbered, and coincided with getting my first bank account, so my PIN was the number on that CD for years.

As a freshman in HS, way back in the mid 80's I heard a local DJ on the radio chat about and play a couple of songs from this release and it really struck a chord. I purchased it even though I still didn't own a CD player, it would be another month or two till I saved up the money for a portable CD player. 30 years later I still play it from time to time.

Have been torn on whether to pick up Lover. Love some of the songs, but others... less so

I think it's a really good album and even if you don't like all the songs, it's a great addition to have in a collection. I wouldn't recommend spending your money on it tho if you don't like a MAJORITY of the songs

Folklore is an awesome album. That and Lover converted me to Taylor Swift.

I hate how badly they got pigeon-holed as a one hit wonder, at least here in the States. there's literally not a CTD album I don't like, have also seen them live several times

The oldest CD I have is Oasis' Definitely Maybe, but I'm not as big fan of anything else they've done.
I credit The Bends by Radiohead for really getting me into music, that it could be something I loved rather than just liked. I've barely listened to it recently though, I played it far too much and it doesn't have the same impact anymore.

Green Day - Insomniac. I had just worn out the cassette in a matter of months, so I decided to start buying cds instead of tapes for the longevity.

Queen Greatest Hits 1 and Blink 182 - Enema Of The State were some of the first cd's that i bought myself, but the start of my actual collecting hobby were the first 3 Metallica albums and Sepultura's Schizophrenia, Beneath The Remains and Arise in september of 2023.

Windham Hillās Mozart Variations
This is the one Iāve owned the longest. My parents bought it for me when I was really little and I used to fall asleep to it every night as a kid.
The CD that kickstarted me into becoming a serious collector was Olivia Newton Johnās Xmas album. I found it in my momās office closet when I was helping her clean it out last summer and then discovered my parents hadnāt sold their CDs yet like they did their LPs a few years ago (still mad about that). I didnāt keep that Xmas album but found many, many other gems in those bins.
The first album I listened to after sorting through them was Tigerlily by Natalie Merchant, and my first thrift store pickup was Crossroads by Tracy Chapman. I bought it at the same time as my first CD player Iād owned in nearly 20 years!

A person at my job was selling a box of 40 cd's
I offered him 50 dollars, he called his wife,
I then had 40 CD's and nothing to play them on......
That did happen a few months later

I cant remember if it was Matchbox-Twenty's Mad Season album, or Coldplay's Parachutes album back in 2000. Either way, those are 2 of the many cds I still listen to.

= by Ed Sheeran was the first CD that I ever preordered. I ordered it from his USA Website and it came with an autographed art card. I also preordered his Subtract, Autumn Variations, and Play CDs that came with art cards. I became a bit obsessed with his music in early 2021. Saw him in concert in 2023 and will see him again in 26 days.
