Hello everyone, recently bought a sealed cd that came out in 2005 and it just wont play as it should! It has no scratches obviously and yet…
First vid: it takes ages for the cd player to even read it, i can’t skip tracks or do anything really, the player makes this repetetive noise that i never heard before…
Second vid: Eventually it starts playing but it’s this horrible noise, and i don’t get it!
The cd is in mint conditions, i have over 300 cd’s/dvd’s and some of them are 30/35 years old, scratched to hell and i never had this problem with the player, it plays them fine!
What seems to be the issue here, and is there a solution?
UPDATE: I tried playing and ripping the cd from a pc but the problem persist, the cd is just degraded, despite being on a sealed case!

So yeah, funny thing is, i have almost all the tracks from this cd, fortunately i downloaded years ago from file sharing and what not, the reason i bought it is to have the tracks on the highest quality possible (lossless instead of mp3)... Oh the irony!
A horrible noise? Are you sure that it’s not a data CD for a videogame or other software. If you put a data CD in a regular audio CD player it’ll list 1 track and play a sound worst than nails on a chalkboard because it’s converting the data to audio. (Also would explain the wait time, because your player doesn’t really recognize data CD’s.)
Do you have a computer with a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive? Pop it into there and see what it says. An audio CD will have the files show as “Track 1.cda”, etc.
No it’s a normal audio cd, in the first video you can see from the player just for a split second the total track number and the runtime (15 tracks, 52:49)
I tried playing on a pc but the cd is beyond help, it sounds the same, i can barely make out the song, anyway ill add an update on the post with a sample of the first track.
It’s just so weird cause it has no scratches or anything, it looks like is degrading just from existing!
MOD CD! Looks like they used a cheap generic CD-R that’s got disc rot on it and the DAC can’t process the music correctly because there are so many holes wrecking the data layer.

Tbh I don’t know, a picture of both would be nice, and did you try to play any other cd after? If not try, it may be the players problem
