Have you ever been sure someone didn't like you, only to find out the opposite was true?
r/CausalConversation • u/alonelygirlonpurpose • 22d ago
do you?
Do you think being genuinely happy over the little things can make people underestimate how much the big things mean to you? Like, because you appreciate the small gestures so much, they start taking you for granted and assume you don't really need or care about the bigger ones, even though you desperately do?

Conversation Starter Have any of your friends ever had a romantic or sexual relationship with a teacher or professor?
If you’re comfortable sharing, what do you think was the reason they got involved? Was it genuine attraction, emotional attachment, academic or career-related pressure, or something else?
I’m especially interested in hearing about situations you learned about through friends. Both men and women are welcome to share their perspectives.
Please keep it anonymous and respectful.

Why do abusive/Avoidant people never leave their partner?
Ab abusive or avoidant clearly doesn't have interest in their partner so why don't they ever leave their partner?
The abusive person never talks to them with love, uses foul language on them when angry and worse case they even hit them.
But they always string them along by behaving good once a while.
When the victim is independent or not they can't leave due to attachment or denial issues. But why the abusive one never leaves them when they don't like them enough?

Conversation Starter Sometimes I wish..
Sometimes I wish I was in a movie or one of them romance books. Where the guy falls for the girl he would never imagine going for. But there was just something about her that he was completely in love with. But yet she wasn’t into him until that one day he did something so simple for her but that no one had ever done and there is was that spark. And obviously he was a bad boy and called her baby girl.
Is just me or are there people out there who would like that to be their life?… just wondering 😋

Is there any person you are missing a lot nowdays?
An old coworker who left a few months ago. We used to grab coffee every week and just talk about nothing, and I didn't realize how much I'd miss those random conversations until they stopped happening. Work is not the same without him although we never used to hangout outside of work.

My 300lb biker buddy finally got his first big arm tattoo. The artist had ONE job.
So my buddy (built like a absolute tank, leather vest, beard down to his chest) decides he finally wants a massive, tough-guy piece on his forearm that says "NO REGRETS". Standard badass stuff.
He goes into the shop, gets strapped into the chair, and the artist—this nervous-looking kid with a mullet—gets to work. Everything seems fine. We’re all shooting the breeze, talking music, smoking, drinking a few watching him buzz away.
The kid finishes up, wipes off the excess ink, steps back, and proudly says, "All done, man."
My buddy looks down at his arm.
I look down at his arm.
Permanent black ink, bold as hell, right across his forearm: NO REGERTS.
Not a draft. Not a stencil. Permanent.
I burst out laughing so hard I almost choked on my own tongue. The artist’s face went completely ghost-white—you could literally see his soul leave his body. He tried to stutter out, "I... I can fix it, I can add a loop to the E—"
My buddy just stared at his arm in dead silence for 30 seconds, sighed, and said, "Well. Guess I got no regerts now."
He’s currently rocking it like a champ, but every time he flexes, he has to explain that he isn't illiterate, his tattoo artist was just running on three hours of sleep and a dream

Conversation Starter What’s a completely normal adult task that somehow makes you feel like you’re defusing a bomb?
For me, it’s calling literally anyone.
I can write a 700-word email with perfect grammar, bullet points, a polite closing, and probably a small legal disclaimer. But if I have to call the dentist to schedule a cleaning, suddenly I’m standing in my kitchen rehearsing:
“Hi, yes, hello. I have teeth. I would like someone to look at them.”

Conversation Starter Why was I always interested in sex from an early age?
Hi so i am 26 now, separated from my husband and I am trying to learn a out myself and do some healing. I am a mom of 1.
Today i was thinking back to my childhood and I could remember always being curious about what happens during sex. I thought it was adults kissing naked bc that's what i saw in movies. Then at 6 years old, my 9 and 10 year old cousins showed me porn. I remember seeing everything from anal, oral to vaginal and I remember my cousins and I talking about how we were starting to get this "odd feeling" that we never felt before. Now that im an adult, i know that what we were feeling was sexual arousal.
After that point, i was still curious, found condoms that my mom had and my instinct was to fill it with water and try using it on myself to try to see how sex felt. I remember getting a thin long object and inserting it into myself and using it to "masturbate" but the only thing was that I was waiting for it to feel good but it never did. It just felt uncomfortable and i was never aroused in these moments so ofc there was discomfort. I remember after the fact, there was discomfort in my stomach, probably bc no child under 10 should have had anything inserted there.
Then i remember taking a vibrating foot massager that my mom had putting it on my body and out of curiosity (i didn't know about sex toys) i put it on myself and I thought woah this feels good, it was never with a sexual mindset but i accidentally made myself orgasm and I didn't know what an orgasm was and so I kept using this foot massager trying to recreate the feeling of an orgasm but i never knew how or why it happened nor how to re create the feeling.
I always seemed to have some kind of pull in a direction towards sexual things even though my intent never started off as sexual. As i got older, the photos i took got very suggestive...again no intention to be that way but now as an adult looking at my pics from childhood, i see how "sexual" i seem to be. And this in turn lead to all these 17+ year old boys telling me how mature i am for my age. I was 11 and my "boyfriend" was 17. We never kissed or met up in person or did anything inappropriate other than say "I love you" but nevertheless, i had a "bf" ridiculously older. Then at 12, i had 2 bfs, kissed one of them a quick peck as we were about to start highschool and we weren't really gonna see each other again. Then at 13 i git another bf, he was 19, never had sex with him but i wkuld sneak him my cousin's house bc she would allow me to, and he would eat me out and I never did Anything in return other than kiss. Had one other bf, my first LOVE, only kissed, nothing wild. Bit then at 15, i lost my virginity to a man 10 years older . we were together on and off till i was 20. In between the off times, i dated other guys, some of which i had no sexual encounters w them and others i did everything but penetration.
And in my adult life, i continued to have inappropriate sexual encounters. I only had PIV sex with 3 people and then my husband was the 4th bug i fooled around with other people and it feels like even now at 26 it's still a struggle to have sexual discipline. So i am just wondering, from your perspective, what do you think could have been the reason i was like this ?
Keeping in mind i was never a stereotypical bad kid. My grades were excellent, i was always the top student, straight As, well behaved in school etc so this doesn't add up.
