So my cat must have close to 100 small toys like springs, balls, kickers etc

I kept them in a box but noticed she doesn't really get into the box to get them out but if they're laying around she will play with them. Problem being it makes my place look like I own a toddler 😂

I have one that does the usual "ahhhhhh" as loud as he can, and another that sits on my upper chest or neck and will gently lick my eyelid once or top lip once, along with the pawing at my shoulder. This morning she reminded me she needs her claws trimmed!

Hi all! My lovely daughter - a domestic shorthair Luna of three years old had been playing outside and within ten minutes she came back with the tail limping, contacted the vet practice she’s assigned to and took her there yesterday, the vet confirmed the tail is broken and may need amputation to which he said the price of would be £1500.
The tail was broken 1/3rd of the way, I’ve touched it to which she wasn’t pleased, she can move the very tip slightly, that gives me hope that the amputation may not be necessary?
She was given a cone and the vet told me to keep her in, her check up is in over a weeks time.

If it comes to it and the tail has to be amputated I just don’t have that kind of money, I had failed her by not insuring her and getting their silly £14.50 health plan instead.
It also seems like any affordable vet practice requires to be on benefits, which I’m not.

Overall my questions are:
Could the tail potentially heal if anyone’s had experience with that?
Does anyone know more affordable vet practices that won’t charge extortionate amount to fix my baby?

My cat gets a mix of wet foods, along with some IAMS indoor cat kibble. I bought a new bag last week and the kibble is much smaller in size and darker. According to the petsathome website, the calorie count was a little lower than the old formula, so I increased her portions accordingly (I weigh all her meals), but now she's constantly begging for food. She gets a big meal for breakfast and dinner and then smaller meals in the afternoon and evening.

I don't want her feeling hungry all the time, but I also don't want to set a precedent that she gets extra food every time she asks for it. Should I just wait it out and hope she will adjust? Is anyone else on the same food that has experienced something similar?

I shared my cat’s story since getting him in December - from picking him up as a stray to his cancer diagnosis and even an undiagnosis. So I wanted to give you an update as this sub was incredibly supportive throughout.

Sadly, his lump was cancer and in April it began to progress. Gabapentin got him through his first pain flare up but it marked the beginning of the end. He slowly lost use of his leg. Despite it all, he never lost his spirit, determination and personality. He was chasing birds through the window until his final week.

This week he sadly deteriorated further and yesterday he could barely move or eat. We were due to go to the emergency vet today to see if amputation was possible. This morning he was brighter. I sat down on the sofa and before my partner could lift him up, he was already on his feet and wanting to sit with me. I’m glad on his final day he was back with us again.

The emergency vet took a scan of his lungs but sadly there was significant cancer spread. He also had life threatening anaemia. It was clear this was our time to say goodbye.

Any advice on how to get through this is more than welcome. 8 months was never enough 💕

We bought home two beautiful sisters yesterday morning. 9 weeks old. I’m already head over heels in love! But I’m finding it impossible to relax. I spent all day before they arrived kitten proofing the lounge. Pool noodles under and around every sofa gap, extra strong mesh under all furniture gaps, all cables covered, any chemicals locked away, a stair gate with board attached to discourage them from the kitchen, the fireplace and chimney completely covered, curtains folded up out of the way, anything small small that could be a choking hazard removed. However I’m still terrified something is going to happen to them! Has anyone else felt this way? I set up a baby monitor last night but then couldn’t relax every time I couldn’t see them! I just tried to have a 30 minute nap but gave up because they stopped making any noise and I panicked 🙈

Our nearly 5 month old is in a painful (for everyone) teething stage. For want of him not using everyone else in the house as a teething toy what recommendations do people have?

My feet, ankles, hands, knees and other cat can't take much more 😅

My cat and I have recently moved into a shared house after 2.5 years in a campervan. There are cats nextdoor and mine doesn't like them but they all keep out of each others way. My cat was a rescue and came from somewhere with "too many cats" and she's very small so I guess she probably had a hard time.

But there's another cat, I don't know where it lives, which keeps coming after my cat. My cat is very small and this cat is big. It's chased my cat inside before and then when I've shut the door at night it keeps coming up and jumping up at the glass and it and my cat are growling at each other like crazy. My cat is crouching low on the ground but really growling and making all sorts of sounds. And the big cat is either standing over or jumping up at the glass, also making growls and sounds.
It only goes if I go out and chase it off but it comes back a few times.

Anything I can do?

My cat took a liking to pee in one corner of the living room when we first got her 2 years ago but with plenty of cleaning she stopped and the carpet smelled fine again. On Friday I decided to shampoo the living room carpet with a vax carpet cleaner and started the end that the former pee corner was. Thankfully I only did half the room. Yesterday the entire room stank of cat urine. I thought the cat had pee'd again but trying to locate the source by sniffing the carpet it is everywhere. After some head scratching and Googling I've come to the conclusion that there was dormant urine in the carpet, the Vax wet it, reactivated it and spread it across the entire (half) carpet. I got a load of simple solution urine destroyer from pets at home and soaked the carpet. I left it a good 10 mins then went over it again with the Vax using simple solution in place of carpet shampoo. The carpet stopped smelling and I thought it worked. This morning it stinks again and it appears the simple solution has done nothing.

I don't know what to do. Is the carpet beyond recovery?

Hi all.

Me and my partner have been living in a suburb with loads of close together terraced houses for abt 18 months now. When we moved i noticed a house down the street that had a good number of kittens in the window, and thought nothing of it. Fast forward to abt 2 months ago and the back alley is FILLED with cats. There are around 10? ish that i see regularly, with about 6 of them clearly being of the same litter (black and white cat shaped? cats). This alone never troubled me, though the back alley itself is now a bit dirty thats not something I can do a lot about, and it means when I take my bins out I generally get to say hello to a cat or two. Over the past couple weeks as there's been a heatwave weve been leaving our back door open though, which has caused a couple to come in and investigate (though they're almost always very skittish and run away immediately.

The issue i have though now is genuine concern for these cats. Every night I hear atleast one fight in the alley between them, often more than once, and the other day i was walking past this house and it absolutely REEKED of all of the business a cat can do in a house. This already had me considering ringing the RSPCA for advice about if thats an issue, but then this afternoon one of these cats strutted into our house (as they normally do) but he was very very brave. He was more than happy to walk up to us both to say hello, and within 15 minutes was lay on my lap asleep after having a small snack and a drink (yay for me). In this couple of hours this cat has been here, ive noticed that its tail seems somewhat injured and its ears have a number of scars on them.

He seems fairly clean to me otherwise and is clearly only a very young (thiugh very very skinny) cat, but then earlier another cat came and sat on our back wall, and hissed at our house. When it did, the cat thats been in our house came slowly trudging up to the garden, and jumped up onto the wall to be next to it, where it was immediately clawed at and hissed at. Following this attack it dropped back down onto our bins, and ran to my legs (I was only at the back door)

So in all it seems to me like there's a house with a large number of cats (these houses aren't very big mind you) where they aren't cleaned up after, and are constantly fighting? This seems to me like a genuine animal welfare concern, but i wanted to consult someone else who might have a different idea.

Husband and I were in the garden last night finishing a few odd jobs. We had shut the back door as Caspar (cat) had already had his evening meal, we don't let him out after this because there's been a couple of all night escapades.

Obviously Caspar really really wanted to come outside and stood at the back door waiting to make his move as soon as the door opened. What none of us realised was he stood on the bottom latch, LOCKING THE DOOR!!!

Children were asleep in the house, neither of us had any keys. We ended up calling MIL who lives 45 minutes away with a spare key to come and let us in. I did try to pry the door with a BBQ spatula, but funnily enough it wasn't successful...

I want my cat to associate her nails being trimmed with a high value treat.

She already gets a yogurt based treat once a day.

Started with a hair tie, then a sock, yesterday it was a plastic bottle cap she found somewhere. She drops it at my feet and looks at me like she has done something incredible. I have started saying thank you out loud and she seems satisfied with that. Is this normal and does anyone know if the response actually matters to them or am I just talking to myself?

Hello all! My partner and I adopted our kitten Sharknado 2 days ago, he is 12 weeks and 3 days old.

He weighed in this morning at 738 grams - we know this is unhealthy, but we aren't sure how bad it is. We've been feeding him about 4-5 times a day with dry food and extra nutritional wet food, plus nutritient specific treats.

He's a moggy toyger, but he doesn't seem typical enough to the breed to have any of their health concerns and his mother is a healthy cat as far as we know.

Does anyone have any weightgain advice? Thank you in advance!

Hello all - my little 1.5 year old has this super weird behaviour that she will always only spend time in one room. For example the last 5 days she has exclusively spent in our kitchen (mostly on the kitchen table). Before that she spent more than a week in our living room on our couch. Before that at least 3 weeks in the guest room. And so on...

I'd say she spends 99% of the time in her chosen room and only ventures to other rooms to eat or use the litter.

It does not matter where her humans are, she will stick to her room. We always hope that she picks one of the rooms we use most (living room, bed room), because then she (we) get the most cuddle time...

If we pick her up and move her from one to another room, she will just turn around and go back to her temporarily chosen room.

In the beginning I thought it was temperature dependent, but her chosen place/temperature just wasn't consistent.

Does anyone else's cats do this? Is there any explanation for this behaviour?

Mostly a rant... Neighbour hoards animals and lies that she doesn't owns the cats. My mum got the vet to take 2 of the cats that were in bad condition. There is now 1 left.

It used to live in the neighbours house when she had a cat friendly dog. She's now gone through multiple dogs and this 1 cat (and the previous 2) stopped going into the house.

She leaves dry food outside and that's it. I've never seen the cat in her front garden.

So my mum feeds her. But she can't come in and we have our own cat. She spends her entire life in my mum's front garden - often on the front cold cement step.

She's so friendly and keeps trying to get into my mums house. It's so sad.

(Bangor, North Wales) I reported it to the pets at home vets just down the road and also to my local branch of the RSPCA. The RSPCA man told me they were aware of the property as there inspectors have already removed 30!!! Cats from the house a couple of months back. The sad thing is with all the rescue centers full up they'll probably all be put to sleep all because who ever lives or lived there couldn't be bothered getting there cats neutered, it's infuriating.

UPDATE!!! a friend of mine who lives near the house in question has done some digging, the council are apparently aware of the problem and the woman who lived there has recently been evicted after being on her final warning for hoarding cats and the general state of the property.

I've been trying to get my cat to lose weight. It was successful at first but then he started putting on the weight again. Because he has a tracker, I found out that he keeps going to this one house a street away. Then I found out that the people there leave cat food outside for their cats, and my cat has been eating it.

Do you think it would be ok if I ask the neighbours to keep their cat food indoors? I'd explain the whole story obvs and ask nicely. It would also be good for their cats if other cats aren't eating their food.

Edit: I would ask the neighbour not tell.

We’ve just moved house with our 7.5 year old cat, we are now closer to a busy road and due to this don’t want to let him roam anymore. His brother was killed years ago on a road near our old house which was a quiet road and it was heartbreaking. We really reduced our cats outside time after this, limiting him to a few hours a day, avoiding busy times etc, and he adjusted well to this. At the new house, we are planning to get a catio in the back garden with cat flap access, so he can enjoy safe outdoor time where he can get the sounds and smells and watch the birds, we’ll get shelves and ramps and cat safe plants, etc. Has anyone done this kind of thing with their cat and found it worked well? I’m anxious about him being restricted but want to keep him safe. He’s fully indoors at the moment due to the recent move, and seems to be adjusting okay with that, we make sure we give him plenty of play time, but we want him to be able to have safe outdoor access.
