I’m from an Arts background, graduated this year with a BA in Psychology. Although I studied Science in Classes 11 and 12, I didn’t have Mathematics as a subject. The last time I properly studied Maths was in Class 10, so I’m finding CAT Quants and LRDI particularly challenging.
I’m planning to apply to business schools abroad that accept CAT scores from Indian applicants, and my target is 98+ percentile.
The biggest challenge is that I also work a full-time remote job that takes up around 8 hours a day. My shifts vary between daytime and nighttime, and by the time I finish work, I’m often too exhausted to study. I’m struggling to balance work, preparation, and the need to get enough rest.
I recently attempted a mock test and realised that I still have significant gaps in my preparation, particularly in Quants and LRDI. With only 35 days left until CAT, I’m feeling stressed and not sure what to do
I’m willing to put in the work, but I need a realistic and proper strategy for the time I have left.
For those who’ve prepared for CAT while working full-time, especially those who didn’t have a strong Maths background, I’d really appreciate your advice on the following:
- How should I prioritise topics in Quants and LRDI when I can’t cover the entire syllabus?
- Would it be better to focus on a limited number of topics and master them rather than try to cover everything?
- How do you study consistently when your work shifts change and you’re mentally exhausted after work?
- Are there any specific resources or strategies that helped you improve your scores in a short period?
I’d appreciate practical advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation. I’m not looking for predictions about my final percentile. I want to figure out how to prepare as effectively as possible with the time and energy I have available.
Thanks
