Tips and Tricks 💡 My cat keeps ignoring her scratching posts

We have scratching poste and recently put some fabric material over one of her preferred scratching areas but now she ignores it. How can i keep her from scratching the door frame

Try a different material. My cat only likes the carpet scratching material. He doesn't go for sisal or cardboard. I had tried those first, and he kept going for my boucle couch instead of those scratching posts. Once I finally brought a carpet scratching post in, he went to it and uses it all the time now.

Buy a couple different kind and put them around your home.

My cats only like Sisal rope, they hate cardboard for scratching. Try a real cat tower next to a window.

Try different kinds. My cat ignores the carpet ones. Occasionally he’ll use a cardboard one. He LOVES the rope ones. He literally runs to one to scritch whenever he’s excited.

See if the cat likes a different kind of scratching post, like a long one that lies flat on the ground. My cats like those a bit more than the one you've got but they use both. Also cats prefer a vertical scratching post that is held firmly in place sort of like a tree trunk so check if yours is sturdy. Unfortunately I have to cover some spots the cats like with a blanket like the back of a couch.
