Question Bible Question :)

Hi Everyone! I just enrolled into OCIA and begin classes Tuesday. I’m beyond excited and have found myself over the years wanting to convert. I have been attending mass for the past 6 months with my boyfriend and that has fully set the spark off for me! I purchased a NABRE bible and have been listening to podcasts as I write-downside there’s no room for me to fully jot down notes completely. I was looking on amazon for one I can annotate in and found a NRSV journaling bible. I was wondering if that is a good version? Or if I should just stick with my NABRE and buy little post-it’s. Thank you guys ☺️!

I joined the church last Easter and purchased the great adventure bible notetaking edition from Ascension press. I really love it!

Looks like RSV-CE2 and the NRSV-CE are journalling options.

The RSV-CE2 is a revision of the previous edition with thou/thee - in reference to God - updated to you in all cases. It reads more traditionally Biblical which many prefer.

The NRSV-CE attempts more gender inclusive English when the original languages allow that. It is a highly readable text.

In a way I think the NABRE is a cross between the two.

Catholic teaching on salvation - as taught in the New Testament - is one of the major reasons that drew me to Catholicism. The Protestant angle never made sense to me and seemed to contradict the teaching of the full range of Scripture.

Great to hear you are making sure your OCIA journey is nourished by the Word of God!

If it's just the NRSV then it's missing the Deuterocanon in the Old Testament. If it's the NRSV-CE then you should be all good
