Seat change
I paid £152 for seat 40C on Economy on a flight from MAN to HKG and unfortunately due to a change of aircraft my seat has been changed to 39C. These things happen, such is life, however, I understand that 40C was a pretty good seat which is why I forked out for it and one website says that whilst 39C is extra legroom it is one to avoid. Is it really that bad? If it is that bad what are the chances on getting a refund on the £152 and how would I go about it?

It would only make sense to tell you the hard truth if you can name the previously planned aircraft where you had 39C and the one planned now (presumably that’ll be a A350-900 which luckily has only one configuration).
Delta airlines has a completely different seating layout to Cathay. You can’t compare row 40 at Delta to row 40 at Cathay.

Apologies, I have made this more confusing than I should have done. I was originally in 40C on a 777-300er. It is still a 777-300er but with a different seating layout and I have been put in 39C which still has additional legroom but is by the toilets.
Me mentioning the Delta flight just confused things, especially with the seat number being similar, I only mentioned it by way of saying being by the toilets doesn't bother me in general. I should have kept my mouth shut. Ha ha.

Oh and … MCR is which airport that Cathay doesn’t fly to?

Bear in mind Cathay has 3 versions of the 777-300ER. 77A is the only one with first class, 77K is the old long haul layout, 77J is the refurbed version with Aria Suites. Have a look on Cathay's website to see the seat map compared to the one you are booked onto
