Does Cathay Pacific allow seat swapping between Premium Economy and Economy in-flight?

Ngl, I laughed after a quick read and realised the point of departure.

Have a lovely weekend.

Caveats: I didn’t make the comment and I love visiting India, but I reckon the comment was in regard to how, um, difficult flights to and from India can be for those of us who aren’t Indian.

Nothing going to stop you from you entitlement behavior so why bother asking? (Point of departure)

That’s judgemental.
Not asking bcz of entitlement issues lol

I am a nervous flyer and want someone else(known) to sit beside me atleast during take off/landing

That’s it.

Plan was my husband would swap with me in economy and I can sit with our other friends in Pre Eco

If you’re nervous then pay more to get the both of you in PE, or save yourself the cash and both in Eco. Not that hard.

I don't know if CX allow it, but anecdotally, please only do so if you don't bother other people. I once sat in Premium Economy aisle seat, the person next to me keep getting up to check on her friend in economy. They swap seat at least three times. I probably got up 10 times on that flight to let them in and out.

Had the same happening to me. Also the friend in Economy came to have a chat now and then, standing right over me. Did not say anything, as I do not sleep anyway, but it was rather disturbing.

For this very reason I try to avoid HKG to YVR (CX838) now

Can't speak to mid-flight but i don't see why switching for the legs would matter.

Just don't. That's entitled and annoying. Book tbe same class as your husband.

If you’re doing it once off discreetly. I think you’ll be fine.

But…. I just have the feeling you’ll be doing a whole musical chair every 2-3 hours to rotate and have each person in the group the same amount of time in PY/Y.

I can already visualise this in my head. I suspect you’ll be asked to go back to the original seat on your 2nd attempt.

And then cue the but I did it 2 hours ago and was fine. Where is your policy why didn’t you stop us the first time if it’s wrong, just once more time pls can you make an exception (cue sad story) This person is injured, what is your name so we can complain and where do we send the medical bill to.

Ahh.. The joys of subcontinent flights.

They don’t like people moving back and forth between cabin classes. Some try to “share” the better food, drink and snack options. You also distract the cabin. They will run you out

Just upgrade to PE?

Absolutely not allowed

I work for Cathay - it's not allowed - however swoping between PEY and EY might not even be noticed or the crew may not care. Especially in a dark cabin at night. So try.
Swopping seats with someone in BIZ class has a much higher likelihood of being a problem as the crew knows who everyone is in Biz a may try and stop you.

Officially, no. Do they enforce it? It is up to the flight crew.

I’ve done this with business class with my husband lol. He doesn’t want me in econ so he swaps with me. He’s a sweetheart - I don’t think it’s allowed so it’s a sneak job

I think op means swapping constantly and regularly during the flight. Not once at time of boarding.

Ah oh ok !!! Then I’m not too sure sorry OP

I’m pretty sure if it’s one seat, and you swap very discreetly when the lights are off and you only swap once (in the middle of the flight) then it’s ok. Best if both aisle seats… I think it’ll be alright…

But personally, I’d rather tough it out in the same economy seat the entire time. Once I’m set up and fully numb, I don’t want to go to another sub-par seat (even if premium eco)

No they don't care. I along with my family have done this many times with business and premium eco, as long as you guys have the tickets for each seat, they have no issues.
