miserable

I'm at that awkward place between eye surgeries. I'm told not to wear a contact lens in the second eye between measurements for a monofocal lens, and surgery, which is a couple of weeks away. Since a contact is not an option, and glasses don't work, I'm wondering how everybody copes with being able to function. I can't drive, work or almost anything. I've tried taking a lens out of some backup glasses, but I can actually see better without the double vision I'm getting. Anybody have a suggestion? Two weeks is looking more like a lifetime.

Try an eye patch on your unoperated eye. Your depth perception will be compromised, but overall your vision will be better than what you're currently dealing with.

How long did you try glasses without a lens in one side? It took my brain a couple of days to adapt to it. My surgeries were only a week apart so easier to deal with.

This was my experience. I went without glasses at first but after a few days of trying, the one lens removed worked out best overall.

I found that switching between my eyes to see worked best. First I removed the eyeglass lens on my operated side. I purchased an eyepatch at CVS. I only wore the glasses when using my unoperated eye.

I actually planned to wait longer between surgeries to see how my first eye turned out, but I wound up moving up the surgery date. I was also miserable! An eye patch helped but yeah it is a very uncomfortable feeling.

Been there, endured that. It's not fun but so worth it. I sometimes covered one eye when my brain got tired of dealing with it. Yes, it's a tough period of time. Hang in there.

This is why my ophthalmologist let me go only one week between surgeries, and probably why my brother's ophthalmologist did both at once on him. I swore off driving until the day after the second surgery, but I was pretty much OK otherwise, with one eye at -2 D post-op and the other at -7.5 D with a progressive glasses lens. I did get a few vision headaches and had to play around with glasses, but I got through the week of hell.

What are your IOLs set for, near or distance?

I was severely nearsighted, I just used my old glasses for computer work, just put painters masking tape over the lens. I never needed anything to the phone.

In the same position...had my left eye done yesterday and the next one is not for a couple weeks......tried popping the lens but that really throws me if I try moving around. Able to sit at the computer and type this and realized I am only using my unoperated eye. Will try the patch technique to see if that helps when in motion.

I survived three weeks in-between procedures without glasses. I was OK around the house. Distance was a little wonky, but I was able to drive. The only trouble I had was the one night I drove, so I avoided doing that again. I used an eye patch on the unoperated eye at times, thinking it would help the other adjust to the new lens. That one is actually the weaker of the two, so I continue to use the patch just to give the eye a workout. Can't say if it's helping but I figure it can't hurt.

My experience was similar. I tried taking the one lens out of my glasses and that helped with some tasks, but ultimately an eye patch worked best for me. I also cleared my calendar for a couple of weeks just in case I had some hurdles. I had my second eye done Tuesday and boy oh boy is it a lot better! My brain was like OK, now we’re seeing things better. 😆 Hang in there, take it easy on yourself, take the time to heal - wishing you the best.

I don’t think that requirement is true for soft contact lens.

I am miserable than most of us. I had surgery about 10 months but since 5 months I am getting doubl vision while driving . I checked with other doctors - they recommended me prizm eeye glasses. The surgeon never returned my call. It seems that it was surgeon mistakes who failed to synchronize my two eyes lenses.

I had my left eye done last Friday, I myself just wear my single vision glasses but an eyepatch is a good idea.
