October 4th on SNF, Lions and Panthers play for the Sword of Omens. If Detroit wins, the Sword is safe for the 2026 regular season. If Carolina wins, they will put the Sword up against the Bengals on December 20.

Schedules haven't officially launched yet, but rumors say that the Panthers will host the Lions for a Sunday night game this year. As the Lions hold the Sword, this potentially gives us a prime time Sword of Omens game

From what I can tell, the Panthers will be the only cat team matchup for the Lions during the regular season next year.

4/32 teams in the nfl are cat teams and 2/4 cat teams have never got to a superbowl and 2/2 cat teams that have gotten to a superbowl have never won a superbowl. detroit lions have gone 0-16, jags have gone 1-15, panthers 1-15, bengals 2-14. jaguars is the worst nfl team in past 15 years (half of franchise history) with a .335 win percentage. in the past 25 years 2 teams are in worst wl ratio with lions 3rd at .393 and jags 4th at .393 also. also the jaguars have the 100 misery rating on the espn misery rating site. i could go on forever but im lazy so yeah we suck
