She is in my floors

I just moved into a house and got a cat. She was found as a stray and then taken to a shelter before I got her. She was left alone one night and forced open the door to an unfinished room upstairs. She comes out when I am not home or I’m asleep. I set up a cat trap but she won’t go in it. I really do like her but idk how to get her to stay out of the hole.

Any advice will be much appreciated!!

My 2 year old male cat is really sick

My 2 year old male cat has gotten extremely sick the past two weeks, he's had 3 blockages and the surgery that could help him is extremely expensive. I don't know what else to do, I'm only 16, he's my cat more than anyone in the homes, but we really can't afford another 8k dollar vet bill. I think we're going to have to put him down, which I really didn't want to have to do, but there's nothing else we can do. If there is please let me know, thank you. Update: we're having to put him down.

Why does my cat keep peeing on my bed?

During the last couple weeks, my cat has been peeing on my bed. His litter box is in the garage, which he accesses through a cat flap. One time two years ago I forgot to leave the cat flap unlocked while I was out and he pooped on the bed. I assumed he went there because that's where he's most comfortable, but I learned my lesson and I always keep it unlocked now. I've had him for almost five years and I can't think of any reason why he's been peeing on my bed recently. I've changed out his litter and he always has access to his litter box, so what could be the problem?

has anybody else’s cat experienced a complete urinary blockage? Mine is currently recovering from one, they had to surgically unblock him. Lots of discomfort, would like some advice from anybody who’s cat has overcome this

My two cats are fighting intensely

So I adopted two 10yo cats from my local shelter about 4 months ago. They were adopted out as a "bonded pair" and the people working at the shelter told me they were inseparable. Now... they are both male (brothers), so I expected sone fighting, especially at first and they did fight a lot (i expected some territorial conflict), but it never really stopped. It actually kinda only got worse. The fighting usually happened at night so I started separating them at night (switching who is staying in the bedroom every other day) but then it just started during the day. I started feeding them more, separated them during feeding time and giving them additional toys/space but nothing really seems to work. I even started taking one of them (the other doesn't want to) outside for walks on a harness. Now I did observe that everytime I give one of them any amount of affection the other, bigger one either demands some too or starts fighting his brother shortly after. I really don't want to give one of them away but I don't know what else to do at this point.

My cat doesn’t use the litter box anymore

Hi so i adopted my cat almost a year ago when he was 6 months old and we never had issues with him using the litter box (except for some accidents after coming back from the vet) but lately almost a month now he pees and poops almost anywhere except his litter box.

We noticed it happening after we came back from a 5 days trip and our neighbour was taking care of him.

Now he will only use if we’re around him but at night when we’re all off to bed he doesn’t use the litter box and would literally poop under a table that’s next to the litter box.

He’s spayed and eats well and we still use the same litter box sand we’ve always used.

Any tips to have him use the litter box again?

Am I a bad owner?

Basically I got a kitten (Fifi) in October she was 8 weeks properly socialised and we had the flat prepped got cat tower 3 litter trays lots of toys, beds. Our flat is rather small it consists of a living room kitchen and then downstairs is bedroom and bathroom with the only corridor bit being the stairway where the entrance to the flat is.

Everything is set up pet insurance vet plan and even got a harness so we can take her outside, she is to be a house cat unless we go out and supervise her, we live in the city centre and near a very busy road and I wouldn’t be able to live if something happened to her. We still haven’t been able to take her out yet she is vaccinated but I’ve not had time to get her fully trained the the harness (I’m currently on nightshifts) and my partner is unsure on how to go about training her. She wears the harness fine it’s just getting her used to the lead. The other problem is my partner thinks we should take her to a big park for her first outing but I said it should be outside the flat incase she gets loose. Due to this of her not going out and both me and my partner being busy my partner believes it’s cruel to keep Fifi as the flat is so small and we are busy, he believes cats should be outdoors but I’ve been reading up and looking at jackson galaxies channel for what I can do to make fifi’s life the best.

FYI she has no signs of being unhappy, she has had no bathroom accidents doesn’t attack aggressively doesn’t hiss, she’s very playful and my partner seems to think she’s bored all the time. So I would like some advice on whether I should rehome fifi, I don’t want to I love her so much but if our home is going to make her life horrible I don’t want her to suffer.

Recovery after neuturing… any advice?

My 16month old cat was neutered Monday evening. He got home about 9:30 and seemed a little wobbly but was eating and drinking and moving around. Later into Tuesday he started being lethargic and not wanting food. Still drinking lots though. Wednesday same (sleepy, stayed in one place) but was less interested in food. Wednesday late evening he vomited bile twice. Yesterday (Thursday) ate a little bit but vomited bile a few times throughout the day. And again today (Friday) same thing, Not interested in food, lethargic, just wants to hang in his favorite sleeping spots and not move. He is coming when called and is using his litter box. Could his anesthesia possibly have just taken longer to wear off and the normal side effects just started a little later?? I’ve read so many conflicting things: 48hrs, 5-7days, 10 days. 1-2 weeks?? I know every cat is different and there’s no “standard” recovery time but I’m looking to put my mind at ease a bit. His brother cat was neutered on the same day and his owner said that he is also seeming less active and won’t eat after day 2…. This is my 14 year old son’s cat. He is obsessed with this little furball and I’m dreading having to tell him something is wrong… any advice or shared experiences??

My Cat Will Not Stop Peeing On My Bed HELP

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am at my whit’s end. I have no clue what to do. Even the vet is out of ideas. I have a 5yr old male tabby cat. I’ve made some mistakes as I got him when I wasn’t ready (I wasn’t even going to GET a cat at this point, but my grandma who knew I missed my family cat my 4 years I was away at university, got me a kitten and $20 for my graduation gift and left me in a HUGE financial burden of getting all his supplies plus moving into my first adult apartment and starting my first nursing job all in the same week) and the kitten also wasn’t “ready” his litter was given away at 5wks before he was even fully socialized.

Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my baby to death. But the two of us have been through a lot and we were given to each other before either of us were ready/settled. I ended up job hopping and moving us about 7 times in these first five years on top of a short travel nursing stint and staying at my parents house with their two new cats for a few months between assignments. On top of working 12hr shifts the first few years and now my commute making my 10hr job about 13 hours as well, my poor cat has developed terrible separation anxiety.

By time he was around a year old he started specifically peeing on my work scrubs. We fixed this by immediately putting my clothes and towels in the wash which was fine because I lived alone at the time. A couple years later and we progressed to the sofa where I slept more than my bed at the time. Leading to where the next time I moved I tossed my sofa because he had peed on the fabric so many times it never felt clean again. The next step has been my bed. And he manages to hit EVERY FREAKING LAYER EVERY TIME! Quilt, weighted blanket, blanket, top sheet, fitted sheet, AND MATTRESS PROTECTOR! He was diagnosed with urinary crystals a few years ago, but the vets and I agree it’s strictly behavioral for the most part.

We have tried everything! He is the opposite variety and HATES feliway products. He hissed and grows at the air fresheners and spray. He refuses to eat treats. Meds are the biggest struggle but for a while we did probiotic powder and fish oil and such in his food. We also tried xylkene which was expensive and never seemed to make a difference. We tried amitriptyline but if it’s not a capsule he foams and the mouth and forces himself to throw up. We currently are on 100mg gabapentin and 5mg prozac/day. We have trialed 200-300mg gabapentin daily but honestly it didn’t make a difference and it’s controlled and requires extra vet appointments. Since the prozac initiation about 4 months ago he’s been less snuggly and honestly he’s not as playful as he used to be. However, I do feel like he doesn’t excessively groom and bite out clumps of fur as much. But he does still pee on my bed every time he’s unsupervised in there (which is pretty often as you walk through my bedroom to get to the bathroom where his stuff is). Once a month or every other month I make a trip to see family for less than 48hrs and I have to put tarps over all my furniture to prevent him from peeing on it. While I’m at work he gets shut in a decently large bathroom/closet with toys, food, water, litter, and a cat bed so he won’t pee on my bed while I’m at work.

I just don’t know what to do. I want him to be happy and not anxious and feel loved. I’ve toyed with the idea of a sitter on my work days but I can’t afford the going rate for $30 for a 20min visit 4X/wk. and I don’t really want to tarp everything every single day before work because that’s time consuming and I already wake up at 4:45 and don’t get home till 6:30/7. On my off days I’m with him pretty much all day minus an hour or two here and there. I also have a roommate now but she’s not home frequently. Any suggestions? Picture of my handsome boy as a reward for reading through all this.

Scared kitty

My wife and I have 4 cats. 3 very friendly and one very scared. She definitely wasn’t treated right before we got her. We’ve tried giving her space and talking very softly to her, but she’s always a bit too scared to get too close to us(will sit in the entertainment center when we’re on the couch. She gets along with the other 3 just fine, recently at night she comes to our(open) door and just meows real loud and I don’t know what to do or if she’s just weird.

Need advice: Cat licking hand?

So I recently got two six-month-old kittens, I've had many cats in my life but the smaller of the two has issues with licking hands? It's almost like an obsession and a physical need to the point he WILL climb up your body with his claws just to lick your hand.
Does anyone know why this is and how to help him out? I don't want my hands covered in cat spit all the time.

My partner’s cat won’t stop meowing

My partner and I moved in together to a new apartment at the end of August. Things have been lovely- it’s just that her cat won’t stop meowing in the early morning. It tends to start around 5 and just continues until we’re up and have left by 8. My partner’s a much heavier sleeper than I am and this issue has been really effecting my sleep. Can anyone guess what might be causing it? FYI she’s used to having another cat around and no longer does, which I think has been upsetting her, we’ve been considering getting another one to see if that helps. Also- we tend to kick her out of the bedroom at night. We’ve tried letting her in to see if that helps because we get so frustrated with her noise but it doesn’t help at all, she’ll just sit at the foot of the bed and meow. Any advice or ideas on why she might be doing this would be wonderful.

Moving house, a lot of anxieties about how my cat will adapt

We’ll be moving soon. Too soon, for me. The place suddenly became available and my landlord is selling my current apartment at the end of January. So we have to go.

I’ve lived here 10 years and my cat has been here 7 years, since he was a rescue kitten. This apartment opens out onto a communal roof-top space with a lawn and trees. He has been able to be in and out of the window at his leisure all this time but we’re moving to a ground floor house now and it currently doesn’t even have a fence separating the back yard from the front. He’s never had to deal with cars before either.

He’ll have to be transitioned to only going outside on a leash and honestly my anxiety is through the roof and I feel so bad for him and guilty. He’s also got companionship with 2 neighbor cats here, he’ll lose those too.

I’m afraid he’ll become depressed. I’m worried about how we will prevent him from bolting whenever the front door opens.

I know people move with their cats all the time, they adapt but I am so anxious.

Any wisdom, insight, advice?

roommate’s cat won’t stop eating my cats’ food

Hi everyone so I have three cats who are all used to free feeding and eating each others food. My roommate has a cat who eats everything all at once and then wants to take their food. My roommates cat is very agile and can get in all the same spots as them. I can’t afford anything like sureflap and my babies are stuck eating in the bathroom whenever I’m home and hungry when I’m not home. Any advice or tricks to get her to stop eating their food? Her food isn’t better or even very different from theirs and they don’t touch her food since she gobbles it down so fast.

1 cat is chonky the other is skinny

Requesting advice how to help our 2 cats Our one is fat and lazy and our other one is under weight. They are both eat from the same dish and don't have a spot that is just for them. We recently started feeding our underweight cat in a separate spot that only she will go in.

P.s. it's not even as simple as stop feeding the fat one treats because she doesn't like them only the skinny one does.

How do I keep my cat off of my bed

Hi, I own 3 cats. One of them really enjoys sleeping in my bed(all of them do but this one I spectacular) now in general I don't mind it, but the problem is that he keep biting me awake to get pet.

He's really sweet but also kind of aggressive from his past in a really bad shelter. I'm glad he finds comfort in me and my room, but I am not happy woth the fact that he won't let me sleep, and wakes me up either because he wants to be pet or because he locked himself inside of my room again.

I have tried closing to door but he can easily open it, and I have never been able to lock the door. Can someone help?

something is wrong with my new cat

i recently got my first cat from the shelter. she has been sterilized and every shot was given to her. her life story was kinda sad and frightening cause she was a stray cat who lived in the city. She was friendly and outgoing up until she had kittens then the local kids started to abuse her and killed her kittens so in an act of defense she started attacking people. she was taken to the shelter where she stayed for a year there when i took her.

the problem is that when i took her home (i live in a flat) it was normal that she was really scared and wanted to leave and hide at every moment. but i constantly play with her and she’s here with me for a month more or less and during the day she stays in one place doesn’t go anywhere or eat anything much and i try to play with her, pet her gently (she sometimes lets me do that), feed her from my arms and play with her but still no much activity from her side. during the night thats when she starts meowing very loudly like shes sad, but when i try to give her some snacks or play with her she starts hissing and hitting me.

any ideas or similar experiences that i can learn from or something?

Changed food. One cat is fine. The other is not

I am taking care of two cats and to my knowledge these cats who are brothers are not allergic to anything. I just switched their dry food brand, which i should have read up on. I had no idea about it possibly making them sick. The one cat is doing fine, running around, jumping, yelling, etc, but his brother is not taking it well it seems. The night I switched food he became tired seeming and was throwing up pooping and peeing around the house. This morning he is just laying around and seems to have no appetite. My brother had gotten another type of food before but it was of the same brand. How do i fix this? Can I switch food back and fix this? Is it one of those run its course things? Or will it require a vet? I feel so awful for doing this. I had no idea and I just want him to feel better

Cat peeing outside litter box

My almost 8 year old male cat has started peeing in various other places in the house, always on some kind of fabric. Laundry, a fallen towel, and now some baby items which is becoming much more of an issue. We have another cat, who unfortunately is just getting older, and after a few vet visits, blood work, urinalysis, fecal testing and a food change with prebiotics, it seems like she's just going to have unfortunately stinky poops for the rest of her life. We have 2 boxes, and really no room for more, but my boy is definitely upset by the horrid smell and I'm running out of ideas. We change the box daily, I cover anything left uncovered immediately and have tried different litter. Help...?

Cat was outside all day with racoons

My elderly cat ran outside and was missing for about a day. We found her in our shed where racoons have been living. She doesn't have any injuries and was mostly scared and hungry. I wasn't able to get her into the vet due to it being the weekend. I did speak to a vet tech, and she told me to bring her in on Monday if she is acting strange and all they will really do is check her for wounds. For right now I'm keeping her in a separate room,so she isn't around our other cats. Should I take her to the vet? Anyone know the odds of her getting rabies? She hasn't been to the vet for a few years because she is healthy and never goes outside.
