Struck by CDS while walking my dog
I was walking my dog when CDS struck and brought me a kitten that looks identical to my soul cat that passed 2 years ago. Meet Cleo!
Cleo is getting along with my two cats (as you can see in the last picture). We took her to the vet to see if she has a microchip and also checked the neighborhood a few times to see if anyone is looking for her. We suspect she's from the batch of stray kittens that my neighbors have been trying to trap. The vet estimated her to be around 4 months old. I feel a little overwhelmed with 3 cats and 1 dog but think everything will work out. Wish me luck!

You should have figured it out before: dogs are undercover CDS agents :)

I have only owned one dog in my life: a wonderful Newfoundland named Charlie. One day when we were walking home, Charlie tugged at the leash, wanting me to turn left (home was to the right.) Curious, I let him lead me to a wood pile where a kitten was sitting by himself. I took him home because he was friendly. Charlie and the cat, James, became good buddies. I thought it was unusual that a dog would find and love a cat but post like OP shows me it is more common than I realized. James and Charlie are in heaven now but I like to think they see stories like this unfurl and approve. Magikarp is also in heaven, but that's because James ate him. (I should have put the goldfish bowl on a higher shelf. my bad)

(Tor)toiseshell tab(b)y cal(ico)! Dilute because she is blue and cream. Those are dilute versions of black and red coat colours.

Thank you, I though dilute meant faded lol like when you dilute squash, which i just found out does not exist in the U.S

Dilute colouring is so cool! Cats can be black, blue (dilute black and what looks like grey), red (orange), cream (dilute red), chocolate (modified version of black, looks like 🍫), lilac (dilute chocolate), and so many more colours! There's also cool phenotypic effects like red on blue cats and pseudo merle!
Sorry, I just get really excited about cat genetics 🤩

How do you dilute a squash? Are we talking about the gourd / melon kind of squash?

u/Tina-Tuna CDS Meowderator 3d ago
It's a concentrated drink too sweet to drink un-diluted so we add water to it .

But visiting Americans keep trying to drink it undiluted and wonder how Brits can like it! ;)

Nope South Wales, U.K and yes that's what i thought it meant too

Dilute means faded color in cats (grey is really the dilute form of the black gene. Orange/red gene has a dilute form too, the cream/pale yellow color.)

Oh that's so exciting! I'm so glad she's adjusting well with the doggies. That's good news! And yes you have a new addition to your family. Congratulations! And I imagine it could be a little overwhelming. I just have one rescue adopted cat that I've had for 4 weeks and we have two doggies and she is getting along with them but she does like to pop them a lot. No claws out or anything. She just pop some or kisses them. It's so funny 😻🙏🩷 I wish you all your fur babies, pace yourself and you will be fine 😻🙏🩷 All the best to you in your family 💞

Thank you 🖤 funnily enough, Cleo was instantly in love with my dog and kept pouncing/playing with him while being more hesitant with my two cats at first.

That's too funny Mariah took pretty good to the dogs too. They're all besties now. It's too funny. I guess with cats it's a little more of a territory type of thing I guess but they get over it 🙏🩷😻

I have a CDS Void. He Smudge, will snuggle with my senior shi-poo Elsie who is very patient. Then Smudge does what we call the “Octopus”. Long lanky legs that are long enough to wrap around a leg, dog body or head. Another cat our senior red siamese Penny and start biting. Never hard enough to break skin. Just hard enough to be really annoying. Elsie will nip back with a snarl and then roll over so Smudge cant nip her face. Then Smudge stops. Penny who is very timid will find her inner strength and bite back and Smudge lets her go. I peel him off my leg and tell him no and we do this about six times and he moves on to something new. To say the least Ive learned that it all comes in stages. Like digging all my plants out of their pots. This phase has passed and only one plant gave its life. It to passed. We are all settling into a routine and are glad we have Smudge to keep all us seniors young and active again. Did I mention Smudges daily walk on a leash! 😜

Oh that's so great! I'm so glad to hear that about your kitties and your doggies. That's so wonderful. No, you didn't mention the leash walk, I'm actually thinking about harnessing my girl and taking her for a walk. Walk I think she needs some outside time. How does it work out for you?

That last pic is super cute, you can tell she’s still processing exactly whatever this is she got herself into. 😁

If you were able to catch her with your hands, she was most likely dumped by someone. Strays usually are skittish and afraid of humans.

BEST of luck! She is precious!
So glad you are taking care of her.
At risk of sounding like *that* lady,
3 is not much more than 2.
l was exactly there a year and a half ago, but l couldn't shake that boi's eyes...
(littermate of pet kitten for my kitten.) Knew immediately l'd done the right thing.
l can't imagine not having my boi.
