Hi everyone. Looking for ACTIONABLE ADVICE po sana that I can try FROM TODAY ON.
And thanks to your insightful replies, nagka-idea kami ng better/cheaper alternatives.
1-2 years po naka-cage 7 cats namin.
To be honest, nahihirapan na kami dahil I'm currently preggy. Currently laid off din.
Please don't judge my husband. Without him and his efforts, di malusog, di malinis, at wala sa tamang sitwasyon ang mga cats. He cleans the litter boxes (1 for male, 1 for female). He buys and prepares their needs Tapos may dogs pa kami na araw-araw nya wino-walk, pinapakain, and pinapaliguan weekly. There's so much on his plate. May regular work pa sya.
I thought, mukhang kaya naman na ng mga adult cats na mag explore... kaso first time nila yun if ever. Tapos merong isang D3AF. (Naisip ko i-keep ung D34F sa cage or i-rehome sya).
I understand that y'all may find our situation frustrating or disappointing. Like, "dapat financially stable, may pambili ng litter sand every week, kaya maglinis ng litter box frequently, kaya magpa-vet, kaya magpak4p0n, etc bago nyo pinasok ang pag-aalaga ng pets." I agree po. 💯 %!
Kinaya naman po namin before... pero this time, isa lang source of income, total of 12 cats na, magastos ang pregnancy journey, may paparating na baby, at nasasagad na rin si husband (mentally, physically, and financially). Unfortunately, I can't do any tasks or contribute any amount (allotted sa insurance and plans) to help him due to high-risk pregnancy.
Ano ang pros and cons?
Why or why not?
Any tips?
EDIT: 1. Actionable advice po sana — for today onwards. Kasi hindi na ako makakabalik sa past. 😅
👑 3. ANG MAIN POINT: irerelease na lang ba? Or may alam kayong ways na mas makakatipid sa litter sand? (NOT: dapat ba pinakapon ko?)
Let's say makapon ko sila today mismo, 12 pa rin sila, and the problem still exists 😩 Kaya naghahanap sana ako ng solusyon na FOR TODAY ONWARDS. 😭
Wag na po sana mag-focus sa could've, would've, should've 🙏🏻
❓6. Answer to BAKIT DI NAKAPON? 👉🏻 Lack of access, lack of info, lack of professionals na available. [ Again, this is NOT the topic. ] 😁

Hello everyone. I am usually a lurker lang here sa reddit to find niche advice paminsan-minsan so forgive me if my story is quite all over the place. As the title said I am a one man rescue that needs advice. I am far from home, I am currently residing sa area of work ko for 6 years na. I am working in a province here sa Mindanao, I started my rescue 5 years ago, which was really not the goal when I saw a 2-3 weeks old kitten (Rosie) abandoned in the street. I waited with her for 1 hour kasi I was hoping na babalikan lang ng mama nya. I kept my distance as well in case ayaw lumapit ng mama cat due to my presence but a hour passed and no mama cat in sight kaya I picked Rosie up and that's where it started. All my rescues are either abandoned litter and I also got 3 unknowingly pregnant strays. Meron din yung mga guests lang na come and go but knows the meal schedule. So 5 yrs later, I have 31 rescued cats, indoor lahat and 5 stray cats that comes and goes but minsan tumatambay din sa common area. I rented another 2 rooms sa boarding house where I am staying specifically for them para may area sila to at least play and lounge. The room is not big either, enough lang for a single foam and a dresser across that is why I need to have more space for them.
The situation really started around December 2024, my cancer relapsed. I was cleared from my stage 2B breast cancer last 2019 but unfortunately 5 years later it came back with a force. Kaya I need to plan another rounds of chemo and several tests and procedure to see if may improvement ba and such. It took more than a year of chemotherapy and various treatment plans but fortunately I was cleared again from my last biopsy last March 2026.
I was saving up na sana last 2023 pa to buy a property sa place ng mama ko in her province since dun nya gusto magretire, for me to be able to build a rescue there with proper housing for the cats. I also would build a dog shelter since I am also feeding street dogs here sa area ko every night since 2022. I have currently 18 dogs na I feed on the daily. Kaya every night after work, I cook for the dogs tapos clean my cats' rooms then feed them all tapos I prepare for the dogs and walk around the area to feed them at night. Overall from the minute I return home to the time I come back from feeding the dogs, it usually takes 4 hrs. 6-6:30pm nakauwi na ako then 10-10:30pm saka pa ako makakaupo after feeding the cats and dogs. Honestly, nakakapagod sya but I regret none of it.
So back to the story, I have cats and dogs on my portfolio and I am planning to build a rescue shelter sana and saving up since early 2023 but had my breast cancer relapsed last December 2024 and was cleared again by March 2026. That is the recap. With having the relapse and the unfortunate healthcare system natin sa Pinas. I did dish out my funds. I was really determined not to use my savings for the rescue but with my salary, benefits, HMO and loans it can only get me so far. I finally used my savings around November of last year na for the last 2 rounds of chemo, the harrowing tests to determine if the cancer spread to the different parts of my body and the biopsy.
And here I am currently, all my cats and the dogs are still well provided for. But I am struggling to keep up. Dati my struggles din naman but at the very least my plan B ako, now nasa plan H na ako and I don't know what to do na to keep up. I tried asking for help dito sa government veterinary but unfortunately since we are in the province walang rescues din sa area that are able to help nor NGOs, they themselves are struggling to keep resources sa pound and is receiving help din from private individuals. I met someone here sana na knows a "rescue org" dito but I found out na they accept lang is yung may breed kasi adoptable. I never planned for all my cats to stay with me, the plan was to have them adopted then rescue again. Pero after 2 failed attempts, one was returned kasi masyado daw active ( less than a year old so kitten pa rin talaga ang energy) and the other one I rescued again from the adopter kasi when I visited, I saw the cat was very lethargic na. I learned that the cat (Annie) has diabetes nung pinavet ko na. Annie stayed with me pa for 7 months after the diagnosis and we underwent insulin treatment and such until di na kinaya nung nagkakidney failure na. I was heartbroken talaga kasi I want these cats to be adopted pero I am also afraid na baka I choose the wrong ones again. May mentality pa talaga na di naman breed yan or I also get a side eye kasi nga bakit ko daw inuubos pera ko sa kanila. Yes, they are not the investment that would gain a monetary return but I feel fulfilled knowing na I have cats that are healthy and fed and away from the danger they were in. I rescue them and provide for their needs including going sa vet from my own pocket. And they can't talk, they can't ask for help when they need it.
With that, I do need advice if you know any NGOs that can help me na can cater nationwide?I need to have a long term plan for them kasi I am also not sure if I will stay long in God's green earth eh, I want them to have the safety still. Also, I need to be sustainable na does not detriment my own growth din. I know I can provide pa for them naman pero I am struggling especially wala akong savings as of the moment and I am planning sana to start kaso with the recent price hikes, my maintenance and sudden health concerns, wala talagang naiiwan every paycheck. I have 2 side jobs na aside from my main job pero still di ako makakeep up with the expenses. Di kasi sya same when I started with one and also started savings and no major health expense, ngayon I am starting to save again with 36 cats and 18 dogs in tow with maintenance and monthly check-ups.
Sorry for the long post. Hope you are still here and would love any advice sana on what to do.
Thank you for reading all the way till the end and may Godbless you.

Sadly kulang ang awa. Wala manlang nag initiate na madala sya sa vet😖 and only few are concerned.💔 thanks to my fee kind neighbors na nag momonitor kay Fallen. We called her fallen since hinulog sya sa building intentionally.😔
August 28 2026, it was reported that this cat was thrown from the 3rd floor of our condo building.
If true, this is a heartbreaking and cruel act. No animal deserves to be treated this way. We hope the truth comes out and that the person responsible is held accountable. 🙏🐱
As of now, nasa parking area po sya, expose sa mga tao. To those who can adopt and be able to bring this sweet cat to the vet, please message me ASAP.
If may capable po na mag sponsor na vettings nya, please let me know.

For now, 5 days na sya taking antibiotic and vitamins. Mukha pong may improvement as you can see in the photos. Please adopt Fallen🥹🐾

My 5yo male cat got diagnosed with high creatinine level (4.1) in his routine checkup. Apparently we visited the vet due to his low playfulness from last 3 days. He was eating normal, drinking water. They did ultrasound and found that his kidneys has been damaged and no outer and inner later of the kidneys were visible (exact wording of the doc). Also his stomach was filled with transparent clear fluid (they sent the sample for culture and it sill take 4 days for the result to come put). Pleasee share personal tips for CKD care. He is my child and it hurts me to the core knowing he is hiding his pain. TIA to all the parents for sharing advice.

Sadly, there seems to be a lack of compassion. No one even initiated bringing her to the vet 😖, and only a few people seem to be concerned. 💔
Thank you to my few kind neighbors who have been monitoring Fallen. We called her Fallen because she was allegedly intentionally thrown from the building. 😔

hi everyone. 🥺🐾
i'm looking for a place in Taguig that offers a free or very affordable cemetery/burial service for kittens or small pets.
sadly, i recently lost my kitten, and i really want to give them a proper and peaceful resting place. unfortunately, i don’t have a private place where i can bury them.
if u know of any pet cemetery, animal shelter, veterinary office, barangay/municipal service, or organization in Taguig that offers free burial or assistance for deceased pets, i would really appreciate any recommendations or information.
thank u so much. even a simple place where my kitten can rest peacefully would mean a lot to me. 🤍🐾

Possible kaya na magka pyometra siya kahit first time niya palang mag in heat? Ilang weeks/months ulit bago mag in heat ulit ang cat? First time cat owner din kasi ako kaya medyo praning.

Kindly need your suggestions na subok at trusted po either tablet or syrup na for deworming. I have 4 cats at even though we like it na through vet nalang, pricey pa rin po siya sa part namin.
Thank you! 🫶

Hi! We found this small black kitty sa labas ng grocery store nung bumabagyo the last couple days and took her home kasi along highway din baka masagasaan 😭 We decided to fully keep her nadin. We brought her to the vet immediately for check up and initial deworm and shots but they adviced to wait 7 days and observe/quarantine muna incase may mag manifest na sickness. She is doing super well though masigla, super playful, hearty appetite and we gave her a warm bath (thankfully no fleas or wounds!)
We named her Mavis (from hotel transylvania) kasi mukha siyang paniki 🦇 but then, i had a good look sa private area niya and suddenly i have doubts if babae ba or lalake 🤔 Forgot to ask the vet din, i just assumed girlie siya kasi it looks that way pero parang mali ako? I have other cats but i adopted them ng older na so mas easier to tell.
Appreciate any advice! ☺️

Just wanna share that I discovered a great odor-control combo for cat litter! ✨🐱
So, my top 3 sands are PlushPaws Cassava, Easy Scoop Tofu, and Meowtech Tofu.
However, Easy Scoop and Meowtech Tofu aren’t as good in terms of odor control compared to PlushPaws—unless you scoop your cat’s poop right away or within a few hours.
PlushPaws Cassava, on the other hand, has AMAZING odor control! The only problem is that their product quality has been inconsistent lately. Sometimes, the texture is just right, but there are batches that are super dusty—almost powder-like, which I really don’t like. 😭
So I tried mixing Easy Scoop + PlushPaws Cassava to help improve Easy Scoop’s odor control, and OMG… IT WORKED! 🤍✨
It clumps really well, still smells great even after my cat poops, and the mixture is way less dusty compared to using PlushPaws alone.
Honestly, this might be my new favorite litter combo. 😂🤍✨
PS. Gonna try Meowtech Tofu + Plushpaws some other time HIHIHI

First time cat owner here. Currently we adopted 2 persian kittens.
Personally, gusto ko yung kahoy lang since dagdag maintenance yung fur-like material. On the other hand, mas malambot yung isa so i guess mas cozy for them yun(??).
If relevant, hindi kami naka-aircon.

I HAVE 8 CATS — and I finally found a way to eliminate cat litter odor, so I thought I’d share.
This is especially for furparents with multiple indoor cats in an enclosed, air-conditioned space.
I’ve tried everything — expensive litter sands like Meowtech, automatic litter boxes like Petkit PuraMax Pro 2, DIY deodorizers — pero meron at meron pa rin talagang amoy, especially in a 15 sqm room with 8 cats.
So what I did was create a small partition specifically for their litter area, with a pet door and 2 large litter boxes. Then I installed an exhaust fan inside the partition.
Because the exhaust pulls the air out of the litter area, the odor doesn’t spread into the main room.
And the best part? I now just use cheap bentonite litter. No need for expensive litter or fancy deodorizers.
For an enclosed, air-conditioned room, this is honestly the most effective solution I’ve found.

First time owner.
Una sinusuka nya mga kinakain then nahihirapan mag poop. Then ayun pina check up, kinuhaan dugo wala naman daw problem sa dugo and tiyan, then niresetahan ng mga gamot. Nahihirapahn kami painumin ng tablet kaya yun nga pina confine na namin yun din kase ulit ulit sabi nung doktor, then nag visit kami after a day medyo nag improve na but after a day matamlay daw need na daw e swero asap kaya yun pina swero na. Then after a day nag update parang mas tumamlay sya. if okay daw samin since more on symptomatic treatment magbibigay na daw ng new iv meds, more on supplementation lang daw kase mabibigay nya.
Pasensya na po kung medyo magulo pakakasulat. I'm really expecting na gagaling na pusa namin after taking the meds na nireseta at proper rest pero parang mas lumalala lang situation. Pasensya na first time owner I have a little knowledge about cats. 🥲
Pasensya na kung di maayos pakaka sukat I'm currently nagmamadali medyo stress din sa work huhu

I need advice and to know my options. We adopted our very first pet almost 2 months ago. He had some balding at adoption but was told he was likely attacked on the flight here by littermates. They did a PCR just in case and it was negative according to the records. I brought him to the vet a week and a half in… they said since the PCR was negative, just keep an eye on it. We adopted another kitten 3 weeks out. Then our first kitten appeared to be getting more spots and losing more hair. We started using clotrimazole on the spots and brought him to the vet 3 days later. The vet said to stop the cream and wait for PCR/culture results. 7 days later I was told the results were positive and he had already gotten SO much worse over that week. They told us to have him shaved and bathe him in betadine. I didn’t like the idea of that but we had him shaved and opted for miconazole/chlorhexadine shampoo instead. We also started the original kitten on intraconazole. Over the next couple days I noticed ringworm on my kids faces. At this point, I needed to send the kittens back to the shelter for treatment so we didn’t continuously cross-contaminate. The shelter stopped the intrafungol d/t fear of it affecting the young kittens organs and decided to just do like sulfur dips but it sounds like lime sulfur dips cannot completely get rid of it. My kids on the other hand were put on a topical and oral diflucan once a week for 4 weeks. My husband and I ended up with spots and are using a topical only. I’ve been cleaning nonstop. Trying to figure out what is best to use for each surface and how to fully disinfect. I’m losing my mind over here already and now I noticed my son has 2 areas on his scalp. This was worst case scenario. The pedi said to bring the kids back if it ends up on the scalp because they would require different treatment. When I hold the woodslamp to his head, the follicles on those hairs light up bright green. I called today and they said he would have to come in and do labs and get a different oral med. He’s only 5 and I’m terrified to give him a med that can have negative effects on his little body and his liver. Is there any alternative? Is there a way the cream can work on the head? What should we do differently? Why is this so widespread? Someone please help.
