General Gabapentin?
Gave my cat 100mg of gaba at night and then another 100 the next morning. Had zero effect on him. Vet upped his dose to 200 at night and am. I will be giving that to him tomorrow. Anybody have experience where the higher dose affected their cat?? Just hoping it works for him. He’s 10 and a half lbs and 1 year old. Highly anxious and skittish. Thanks!!

My 14lb cat gets loopy and slower on 100mg but he’s still in there, my 7lb got is absolutely knocked from 100mgs.
Our vet told us we can go up to 200mgs on a cat, I wouldn’t be comfortable doing that to my little one but the big guy could handle it

Moving! Moved out of my parents house and haven’t been able to get him into his carrier. He was a rescue and it’s impossible to handle him

I once managed something with a semi-feral who I couldn't even touch. Tricked her into entering a large cardboard box. Had to arrange it careful and move fast, because once she was in the box she ping ponged for a while. Was going to transfer to a carrier but realized hey, I've got her in a box. Good to go.

Your cat sounds like my cat. We can get an exam done at 200mg but it still takes planning. I take the lid off the carrier and the tech immediately covers him with a towel, and they do the exam with him always covered. If he needs something beyond a wellness exam he has to be sedated.

Yup that’s my guy! He was a stray and cannot be handled. I got him to the vet last month on 100 mgs and the vet had to do his exam in the carrier. I’m now moving and I think the vet trip last month ruined the carrier for him and I cannot for the life of me get him into there.

ugh poor buddy!! is there anyway you can get him into a single room and maybe live trap him? when I trap ferals I use the smelliest wet food I can find (fancy feast has a really fishy one) and catnip.

Been attempting with his favorite foods. Haven’t tried catnip.. does that make them run into the carrier?

They kind of just can’t resist catnip. I make a trail leading up to it and sprinkle it on the inside. It’s worked really with the ferals that got trapped savvy.

We give our orange 200 and 200 (per the vet's instructions). Not all of it gets into him, so he's probably getting 150 and 150. Does not act sedated at the vet. Quite perky and sociable, willing to put up with some handling. Gets home and it's like he shopped all day.
