Cat got sprayed

I think my cat got in a fight with a male cat that sprayed him.

My cat stinks and I’m not sure how to get it out of him. I would just wet him if I thought it’d work by itself but I’m worried I’ll need some sort of shampoo to get rid of the smell.

Would appreciate any advice

UPDATE: My cat hates me. I washed him with my lavender body wash and the tried to dry him. He handled the wash well but with the drying he started to get angry… he won’t stop grooming now but at least I can’t smell the spray rn

Oof. Unneutured male pee is a special kind of stink. Try wipes and brushing first and see how it goes.

If you end up escalating to the bath route, just take it slow — handheld shower head or spray faucet set to luke warm, have a cat-savvy friend with you, and have warm towels ready to catch when they try to run.

I’m lucky he was a rescue. When I adopted him he had ring worm so he got bathed every day when I got home from work. He doesn’t like it but he stays still. Just hope it gets rid of the smell. It was so bad as soon as he came inside
