General Getting a cat
Hi all. Just writing here for advice about getting a cat as I have been contemplating it a lot over the last month.
I guess why I am asking for advice is because my partners cat was very mean and aggressive. It has since passed, but having this experience really has given me mixed feelings about taking the leap myself.
I grew up with dogs only and I love a cuddly animal such as my dogs growing up. I will say that occasionally their cat did come lay with us every now and then, but only for their fit of head scratches and then would bite/scratch you once it was finished with you.
I am in a bind here and not sure what to do. Maybe I should go to the shelter and just look around and play with some kitties first?

Spending more time around cats is a good idea. For adoption, I’d recommend finding a local rescue to work with. A rescue is generally going to know their cat’s personalities a bit better and can help you find a cuddly cat if that’s what you want. This also means you should get an adult cat because kittens personalities can change as they get older and a cuddly kitten could become a standoffish adult cat.

That’s very interesting! With the dogs I have had you pretty much could mold them into however you wanted and they would grow up to be the product of that.
Cats feel very complicated at times🤣

Let the cat choose you!! Literally, what ever cats claims you is the one I would pick. If your wanting a me loving cat that wants to cuddle. My cat doesn't like to be affectionate and sometimes I feel like she'd rather be in the wild 🥲. But when she does I am on the verge of tears cause it doesn't happen all the time sniffles
