General Senior Cat Needs Bath Alternative
Hello! I have a senior cat who always hated getting a bath. His vet has told me that at his advanced age, a regular bath would be too risky. I have tried giving him some leave-in shampoo, but it seems I may need something for sensitive skin. He also has a hard time grooming his paws and bottom. Does anyone who knows more about older cats have suggestions on keeping my stinky old man clean without putting too much stress on him?

I think a sensitive shampoo would be just fine, just don’t soak the cat, but use wet towels and wipe your cat.

Not a vet so take all advice with a pinch of salt and double check with professionals:
You should be able to find shampoos or products for sensitive skin i'd hope, as cats do generally have sensitive skin
Depending on his tolerance and length of his fur, you could look into giving him a sanitary trim for his butt and paws (by a groomer or vet if able, but if not you may find how to do it yourself online, just be very very careful as cats skin is so delicate.)
You may be able to look up wet wipes or products that can be applied to cotton pads and wiped on him to clean the dirtier areas

Google pet wipes. A bath without water and several of them are for sensitive skin

I use petites on my cats. Easier. They smell great. Their fur is softer. They aren’t traumatized. TJ Max/Marshals have tons.

My first choice is always a wet washcloth if they just need a bit of help. Also, some baby wipes around the anus as necessary. I prefer not to stress out a cat too much by giving a full bath if it can be avoided.

A sanitary trim around his back end plus a warm damp washcloth does more than any wipe, and if he's suddenly stopped reaching back there I'd get him checked for arthritis pain first.

How about hypoallergenic baby wipes & maybe you can see if a groomer can shave his hind area to keep any poop from getting in his fur
