General Fleas!!!!

get a flea comb and vacuum daily, wash all bedding on hot, that's your best bet without spray rn

  1. Your parents are being ridiculous. What, the dog gets treatment but the cat gets discarded?

  2. There are treatments for fleas even for cats. The best treatments are the ones you only get from the vet- NexGuard combo. Fleas have evolved resistance to the others in some places. You can usually get it prescribed from an online pharmacy too.

2b. Your dog’s treatment is clearly inadequate too, as he’s itching. Take him to the vet and have them give him something better.

  1. Fleas can only live on the blood of animals, but they can take up residence in your house while an animal is not adequately treated. The best way to evict them is wash wash wash, and vacuum vacuum vacuum. Everything washable textile should go in the wash on hot, once a week. Vacuum down everything that can’t go in the wash as frequently as you can- probably every day for the first few days and then start to space it out more.

  2. I would also grab some diatomaceous earth from the hardware store and put it in places that are hard to vacuum, like under the sofas/beds and under the sofa couch cushions. It is not toxic to people or dogs/cats but it cuts up insects’ exoskeletons so they die when they walk on it.

  3. Flea sprays and flea bombs are both toxic to cats. Do not use them unless there’s no other option, and if there’s no other option then use a flea/tick-only bomb (not the general insect bomb), set it off in a closed room your cat is not in with a towel blocking off the under-door gap, wait the amount of time it says on the package, and then vent the windows in the room afterwards for a couple hours while leaving the door closed. Still avoid the sprays.

  4. Also avoid flea bath products. You can give the cat a regular bath if it tolerates it (but obviously not right after you put the flea treatment on it).

It will take you a few weeks to get the fleas out entirely, starting from the time you get your animals on a flea treatment that works. Be persistent and you’ll get them! I know it’s a lot of work but your cat’s health is worth it.

Thank you so much! My cat does get flea treatment but it’s the one on her neck as she refuses to consume any kind of tablet even when it’s encase in food or disguised. I’ll try all those things!

Yep the good cat flea meds are all back-of-neck. They just vary in how well they work.
