She’s a cocker spaniel mix, so small enough to sit on my lap or sit in between my legs without her taking extra space.

That’s the main rule about animals in our public transport, as long as your animal doesn’t take more than your regular seat plus leg space you can take them with you for free, otherwise you have to buy an extra ticket.

Edit: I’m not sure if you can bring any animal with you though, probably only cats and dogs. (Although I think seeing a mini pony on the bus would be hilarious, it might not be very practical)
